I believe we are related. William Phelps was a brother to my Grandmother. I remember some of the names you lised as being cousins of my dad's. Alta Vaughan had grandkids that I grew up with. I have quite a bit of info on the Phelps & Baker's (William's parents were James & Mahola (Baker) Phelps. Please respond. You can also contact me by direct e-mail if you prefer.

Query posted by Workinranch on November 01, 2007 for SHEIRLS

So very happy to hear from you! Thank you for answering my query. I would be happy to have any information you have about EULA BURROW CUMIFORD SHEIRLS. She was my great aunt.
Would you happen to have any photo's of her or children or grandchildren?? Also does anyone know anything about Mr. Sheirls??
I have 2 pictures of PLEASANT CUMIFORD, EULA'S grave, her death certificate, census records with children I think?? But maybe not all of them, marriage notice for her and PLEASANT, and a birth ertificate for thier 1st son born in Ark. Would be more than happy to share anything, and pay for copies, etc.
Also would be interested in anything about where they lived, etc. Guess I am greedy-sorry. So happy to meet you!
I live in Idaho, and her sister was my grandmother. One of the seetest women that ever lived. I had heard of EULA since I was a child, but never any stories.
Thank you again
Karen in Id.

Margaret Ann 'Wyley' Hannegan b 29 Jun1845-dJun1918   921

Query posted by Asabbott on November 06, 2007 for HANNEGAN

I am searching for Margaret Ann Hannegan, commonly called 'Maggie' who is known to have died while in residence of a State Mental Hospital in 1918. It was believed that she was in Griffen State Hospital, but when we applied for records, we were advised that they couldn't locate her records. It was suggested that perhaps her body had been donated to the attached Research Hospital since her body had not been claimed. I was horrifed, but resigned that Maggie was lost to her family. My grandfather, Daniel Hannegan, a devout Catholic Irishman, was so angry at the way his mother had been treated, he withdrew his entire family from the church and spent the rest of his days trying to locate his Mother's body.
Recently I found reference to Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, OK. telling that in 1913 when the hospital opened 300 patients were transferred from Griffen State Hospital in Norman to Eastern State, with an additional 300 patients being transferred in the following year if 1914.

Hunts in Craig County   926

Query posted by Vegasgr on December 01, 2007 for HUNT

I'm looking for pretty much ANY info on George and Ella Hunt who were living in Vinta from 1890-at least 1920. Ella later remarried but stayed in the area. We believe that George died around 1912. I do have the 1910 and 1920 censuses as well as the marriage certificate for them. We know that they were Native American but are getting conflicting info as to whether it was George, or Ella or both. Any light that could be shed would be GREATLY appreciated.

Death records for Craig County?   932

Query posted by Carterd on December 18, 2007 for SHULER

I am looking for a relative who was a patient at Eastern Okla State Hospital. His name was Evan O. Shuler. He was there in April, 1930, when the census was taken. I don't know how long he had been there or even if he remained there. He was born in 1879 in Missouri, and was living in Broken Bow, Oklahoma in 1920. If he happened to die at that institution, would it be published anywhere? Thank you!

Thanks very much for your reply, Paul. Grant and Vera are distant cousins of mine and I am gathering this information for another cousin whose grandmother was a sister to Grant Lewis. Do you know the name of the local newspaper where I may get a copy of the obituaries if they exist? I have no marriage record or siblings for Vera.
