Thanks for your reply. I've since been told that in the 20's, it was called Mid Continent Oil Refinery, in the late 40's/early 50's it became D-X Oil Refinery, then became D-X-Sunray. You may be correct about it now being Sunoco, I'm not sure. My g-grandpa worked for them in the 20's so I was trying to find out there name back then. This was all in the Garden City/Red Fork area. PALMER, RINGSTAFF, WOOLSEY Posted by Heather Blair on 9May2001

Is there a kind soul in Tulsa who could look up my grandmother, great-grandmother and great-uncle in the City Directory? I believe they may have been in Tulsa from about 1932 to 1946.

My great-grandmother was Zena May Palmer by 1939, but she may have been using the name from her first marriage, Zena May Woolsey. Her second husband may have been Paul or Jack Palmer.

My grandmother was Mildred Virginia Ringstaff. She may have been using her maiden name, Woolsey, or the name of her second husband, Blair. Her third husband was M. C. Ringstaff, and she was using that name by 1942.
My great-uncle was Stanley Woolsey. Fortunately, he never changed his name!

By 1946 or 1947, the three have moved back to Springfield, Missouri. Both Zena and Mildred applied for Social Security Cards in Tulsa, so that is why I think they were living there.

POLLARD Posted by  Darlene Batty on 6Jul2001

I am trying to find out about my father's sister. She died in the 1970s in a car accident while coming to visit my father in Lake Tahoe, CA. She was in the car with her husband who had business with the Ford Car Company, I believe his name was Condale Pollard (very unsure of this spelling). My aunt (my dad's sister) was Betty Pollard and her maiden name was Walker. Would anyone who knows of Betty or her husband please email me and let me know the exact spelling of her husband's name. They lived in Bixby for many years and she was still a resident there until she died. Her husband later remarried and we have no knowledge of him after that, not that his remarriage was a bad thing - just that we lost touch. Any information would be appreciated very much. I believe Conrad may have died about 4 or 5 years ago, but we are unsure of that also.

BEASLEY, PALMER Posted by  Heather Blair on 23Jul2001

I am looking for information on my gg-uncle, Burton Beasley. All I know about him is that he was born after 1900, and appears on the 1910 Newton County census for the town of Richie.
Family members say that he lived in Tulsa, but not when. I imagine that he was there in the 1940s, and perhaps before and after that.
An obituary for my great-grandmother, Zena Mae Beasley Palmer, names three siblings, whom I presume to be survivors. This was in 1969.

GIBBS Posted by Connie on 29Jul2001

I have a photocopy of a story from the Sandsprings Leader Focus section printed in April 14, 1989. The story that I am interested in is titled "12 Horses Burn in Early Morning Fire" the original story is dated April 16, 1920. I have the story concerning the fire, what I am interested in is any follow up stories concerning the fire at Patton & Blanchard feed store. This feed store was run by my Great Grandfather, Frank Gibbs, I have a recorded interview of my great grandmother, Lizzie Gibbs, Frank's wife, were she talks about this fire, she states that it took days before they were able to put the fire out as it smoltered, the paper account says that houses 5 blocks away caught fire from embers in the air, from the newspaper account of the fire and the story from my great grandmother I imagine this was a pretty big story for the time. I am hoping that maybe in the days that followed there was more written about the fire, I greatly appreciate any help that is offered.

DURBIN Posted by  J on 29Sep2001
Perhaps someone on this board knows this man's family?
The Tulsa World newspaper (www.tulsaworld.com/) in Friday, September 28, 2001's edition on page A-13, reported:
FAMILY SOUGHT OF MAN BORN IN TULSA AREA
Officials in eastern Arkansas are looking for the family of Billie Ray Durbin, who died there last Saturday.
A 40-year old white male, Durbin had no known family members in West Memphis, where he apparently was merely passing through when he died of a heart attack.
Officials believe that he was born in the Tulsa area on December 26, 1960, and are looking for family members who might want to claim the body.
Anyone with information about Durbin can call Kent Hale, the Crittenden County coroner, at (870) 735-1000. Or contact the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office at (870) 702-2010.

FOWLER Posted by Rayne Hamby on 10Oct2001

I am trying to locate anyone with ANY info on William Virgil Haywood FOWLER or his wife, Mabel. He was shot and killed in Coffeyville, Montgomery Co., KS on June 11, 1919 at the age of 30 years and 3 months. He was supposedly killed by "revenuers" while "running whiskey" between Kansas and Oklahoma. He may have been with relatives (FOWLER uncles?) when it happened. His body was sent back to Tulsa, OK for burial.
He and his wife were living in Tulsa, OK in 1919 and he either owned or worked in a hotel. Mabel probably remarried as she is not buried with him, but I have also found an SSDI listing for a Mabel Fowler whose last known address was in Tulsa, OK......so not sure.
