Census Transcription Form  1900  / 1910

Here are some things to keep in mind when reading one of these census transcriptions.

Do not depend too much on the ages given. I have seen them off as much as 20 years on the census when compared to the tombstone.

Every effort is made to accurately transcribe the information. Some of these enumerators could
not write or spell let alone the people giving the information. Some errors will occur there.

Remember that the question asked on the 1900 census was: "Who lived here and how old were they on June 1st".  Some family members didn't live in the home on June 1, and the ages, especially of the young children, are off a little.  The question in the 1910 census used the date of April 15th.

Please don't send me an email saying that I misspelled grandma's name. I have neither the time nor inclination to spell check these things for the rest of my life.

Literally thousands of hours have gone into transcribing these census and the task was trying at best. The people who transcribed and did the data entry did their best.
