Elmore City, Garvin County, Oklahoma
Complied by
Lorene (Lynn) Burleson & Marsha Miler & Bonadette Lynn Sweetman

This listing is dedicated to the memory of two wonderful, kind-hearted and loving
people, Robert Monroe (Bob) Lynn and  Alpha Autumn (Clear) Lynn, who came from
Evening Shade, Arkansas, in 1919 by way of covered wagon, seeking a better
life for themselves and their many children.  They found many years of happiness
surrounded by family and friends in this small town called Elmore City.  They lived long
and fulfilling lives, never asking of anyone but always giving.
May they rest in peace.

Elmore City Cemetery Map

This map is not to scale and is only meant to indicate sections to make it easier to locate specific graves
The gray areas indicate roads within the cemetery.

Elmore City is located at the intersection of State Highways 74 and 29, eleven miles west of I-35.
1 1/2 miles west of the Elmore City 4 way stop sign and 2/10 miles south, the cemetery lies on the
east side of the road.  There is a green cemetery marking the turn.  It is one of the best kept cemeteries
in Garvin County.  There are several Woodmen of the World markers and a Veterans Memorial located near
the flagpole. There are two entrances to the cemetery.

These records were compiled by section and not by row, but specific graves should be easy to find.

A listing of Elmore City Cemetery. Canvassed and transcribed by Jean Brand   (incomplete)
I live in Fresno CA but was born in Pauls Valley. My great grandfather arrived in what is now know as Garvin Co., 1891. I still have family living back there. I don't know how many times I have walked this cemetery taking
pictures. I have many family buried there. I first walked this cemetery over 22 yrs ago and the last time I was
there was Sept, 1999. My Aunt Cecil Davis Talley took me there the first time in 1972. She at that time pointed out the family members and how they were related. 1975 I was on my way to Germany and stopped off in Elmore City to visit family and we walked it again. 1983 I was back in Garvin Co. for another funeral and walked Elmore
City Cemetery again with cousins. 7-1990 I was there again walking all cemeteries where my family was
buried. 1993 there again. 1995 there again as I did a walk about of all my ancestors graves in VA, KY, AL, ARK, MS, and Garvin Co., OK. 10-1998 I took Laquatta Wyatt Rightsell pointed out her grandparents, Eli and Phoebe Barnett's grave who just happen to be my great aunt and uncle. 10-1999 was there again.
As I would learn more I would go back and walk cemeteries, and for the first time 9-28-1999 I was able to walk into
the cemetery where my great great grandmother, Elizabeth Johnson Barnett is buried on Wolf Creek Rd, Orlando, Rockcastle Co., KY (she was the mother of Eli Barnett and my g-gma Sarah Jane Barnett Malicoat who is buried at
Clabber Flats cemetery next to Fant Malicoat her husband.) We stopped off in OK for 5 days this last trip. Eli and Phoebe Barnett are buried with just a stone with only Barnett on the "R" is backwards. Phoebe was a sister to my
Fant Malicoat also....Jean
