Pioneers of Logan County

Reuben/Rubin LOWDER was born 17 Feb 1834 Martinsburg Pike County Illinois to his parents Joseph and Ruth (Sare) Lowder. He married Sarah TURNBAUGH 14 April 1959 and served in the Union forces in the Civil War as a Private, Company "D" 99th Illinois Inf. .

After the war Reuben and Sarah moved to MacDonald County Missouri where he made settlement on land 11 February 1870 and received a homestead 3 April 1875.  He sold this property and moved to Omnia Cowley County Kansas.

Reuben and his son, Joseph Howard Lowder were in the April 1889 land run and received a homestead certificate #930 application #2508, Section 23, Town 16, Range 4 for 120 acres west of Guthrie.

Reuben died 24 Sep 1891 and is buried in the Harmony Cemetery, west of Guthrie. Sarah died 8 Mar 1925 in Atlanta Cowley Kansas at the home of her daughter, but was brought back for burial in Harmony Cemetery.
