Kitty L. Mitchell

|Kitty L. Mitchell, 85, Passed away March 3, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born September 3, 1925 to Holland A. and Ruth (Walker) Davis, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.|
She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. Kitty worked for Douglas Aircraft Plant during WWII and was later employed at downtowns Katz Drug Store. In 1958, she bought Bill & Irene's Flowers. Kitty was owner and floral designer until 1999. In 1984 she joined with her son-in-law, Randy, to run the business. She was well respected by both staff and customers of the shop and she delighted in helping people with their flower needs. She was accepting of her employees and clients, but no one ever interperted her congeniality to mean she was a pushover. She had a strong work ethic, definate opinions and strived to make Bill & Irene's a well respected institution in the city.
Kitty loved man's best friend, and always had canine companions. She showed her dachshunds and basset hounds at dog shows throught the region, winning many ribbons and trophies. After years of raising full-breed dogs, she reached out to help lost puppies and mongrels of every shape and size.
She is survived by her daughter Kitty and son-in-law Randy Pittman, of Oklahoma City, OK.
Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel, with Steve Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
