Funeral services for Donald Albert Young 69, of Guthrie are schedueld for 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 13,1997 at Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Guthrie. The reverand Carroll (Gill) Gililand will officiate. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. |
Young was born August 19,1928 in Creek County on a farm near Mannford, Okla, to Richard Albert Young and Polly Ann (Ford) Young. He lost a long and courageous battle with cancer early Thursday morning at Mercy Health Center with his family at his side. |
Young was raised in the Cushing and Drumright areas. He moved to Guthrie in 1960 and worked in the oil field for many years. |
He also worked for several leasing companies as a diesel mechanic doing maintenance on Oklahoma Furniture Manufacturing trucks. After the furniture manufacturing company closed in the same shop doing maintenance on the county equipment until he retired in 1990. |
Young married Frances K. Gibson on Aug. 21, 1961, in Guthrie. |
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Richard Albert Young and Polly Ann (Ford) Young, grandparents, William A.Young and Hannah (Mains) Young and James Allison Ford and Sarah Jane (Scott) Ford six brothers, Robert Marion, Franklin, twin brothers Ray Dale and Rollie Gale, Richard Harold, and James William; three sisters Etta Ruth Pulliam, Viola Jaunita Sickler and Virga Mae Pulliam. |
Suvivors include his wife Frances of the home; two son's Gary Don and wife Dale of Cleveland, Robert Leon and wife Kay of Cleveland Okla., four daughters, Donna Marie Lann of Cushing, Okla, Rhonda Lea Watson of Kellyville, Okla, Linda Marie Biggs and husband Darrell of Guthrie, Okla, Karen Sue Ochs and husband Dennis of Guthrie. |
He also is survived by one sister Wanda Marie Camp of North Royalton, Ohio, 13 grandchildren, Kelly Michelle Clawson of Cushing,Tammy Lee Wilson and husband Joey of Cushing, Kerri Dawn Young of Covington, Okla, Julie Dawn Dickson and husband Eldon Jr.of Hennessey, Okla,Christopher Clawson of Stillwater, Crystal Lynn Lann of Cushing, Gary Don Young Jr.of Tahlequah, Okla, Jana Lynn Wanzer and husband Kelly of Guthrie, Lindsey Michelle Ochs of Guthrie, Dalton James Young of Olive, Okla, Jill Marie Ochs of Guthrie, Jessica Dawn Young of Olive, and Travis Dale Young of Olive. |
Young also is survived by one stepgrandaughter, Lindsey Michelle East of Cleveland, Okla; and five great-granchildren, Kayleigh Marie Biggs Dickson of Hennessey, Okla, Kelcy Wilson of Cushing, Okla, Dakota Steven Biggs of Guthrie, Kristyn Mikel Dickson of Hennessey, Okla, Kori Michelle Smith of Cushing. |
