I am looking for information on the Amos H. & Laura Hurley ADCOCK family. They had four children all born in Prague, Lincoln County. Their first child was born in December of 1899, and the last child in October of 1916. Grandma Laura's parents also lived in Prague. They were William A. and Rowena HURLEY. Great grandpa William was a Methodist minister.

Seeking info on the John A. Arwood family. In 1920 Lincoln County census family was John A. (age 52), Malinda J (age 50< Burley (age 22), Samuel (age 24), Stella (age 15), and Roddy Berry (age 3 mo., grandson). The family was from Scott Co., VA moving to OK between 1905 - 1920. Burley married Bess B. Lindsey in Enid, OK in 1923. There was another daughter Mollie (1900 - 1919) who married Roddy L. Berry Sr. in Lincoln Co. in 1918. They had son Roddy Jr. (in census) and Mollie died shortly after his birth. Samuel Howard was living near Meeker in 1942. Any info about family would be appreciated.

Wife of only 4 years stated in a letter to my grandfather Ralph L STILL in Hasting, Mich dated 11-6-1926 from Carney OK. On a letter dated 12-7-1926 return address "after 5 day return to Mrs A.B. Still Carney Okla C/O Mrs Maud Carpenter." She also mentions her Children and there love for Albert and a brother in Carney. I don't know the wife's name or Children it may have some relative of Maud. Albert was in Lather Union and working in Kansas City when he got sick and died.

Phillip and his wife Mary Ann left KS. and went on the land run . they had four children Perry, Rosa, Maggie, and Lizzie. I am researching my family history (BLACKBURN). They were living in Lincoln county in 1910. Part of the family moved to Ellis county later but two of the girls remained in Lincoln county. I need to know what records are available for Lincoln county for marriages, deaths, and land records. Also, do you know of any source of old school records? I have been told that my Aunt taught school in Lincoln county, but I don't know which Aunt. One was named Alice, and one was Ellen. Alice later married a man named Ira Lewis, but she died somewhere around 1922. Oklahoma state vital records have no record of her death. Any assistance you could give me would be deeply appreciated.

I am needing some information on some relatives that settled in the Garden Grove community southeast of Prague. My great grandfather John W. Bland b.16 Apr 1857 d. 1 Mar 1930, his nickname was John the Baptist, and his wife Margrett Nancy Leach b. 21 Apr 1857 d. 10 may 1926, who went by Nancy, lived in the Garden Grove area. Did he own any land or a house or a business? Family history says he helped his brother George Washington Bland run a grocery/general store there. I do know they lived in Pittsburg Co. in 1910, but I am not sure when he went to Garden Grove. He and Nancy are buried at the Garden Grove Cemetery.

Looking for any information on the James D. Brown family. 2nd wife Sarah Jane Brewington Salyer. They lived in Meeker, Payson, and on 40 acres close to Sparks, Ok. Some of their childrens names were Florence, James, Theodore, Mable, Sherd and Ruth. James D. was a civil war veteran and died in 1934 and is buried in White Dove cemetary in Sparks, along side Sarah and Ruth. James's 1st wife was Mary Furguson. She died in April 1894. There were 9 or 10 children from that marriage. Sarah had 2 or 3 daughters from a previous marriage to Albert Salyer who died in Nov. 1888.

One of Esther's Sisters Lellus Meire married John Frost, from Elmore City, Ok, Another sister, Tela Meire married Tandy Hamilton.

Esther and Ramond along with Tela and Tandy moved to Baton Rouge, La. Raymond and Esther later moved and retired in Lafayette, La.

Daniel Boone COLLIER b. January 10, 1836 Ohio d. June 24, 1906 Chandler, Lincoln Co., OK , burried Forrest Cemetary out on Midlothian Road. Daniel is the son of Michael Collier and Hannah Lee.
Wife, Naoma Jane Marvin b. May 12, 1836 Adams Co., Ohio d/o Ira Marvin b. Canada and Rebecca Monroe. Naoma died June 24, 1924. Also burried n Forrest Cemetary.
Daniel and Naoma came to came to Oklahoma in 1895, made their home in Lincoln and Payne counties. Naomi taught school at Clematus School in 1915. Daniel enlisted in the Civil War in July 19, 1863 out of Co.E, 1 Ohio Heavy Art'y. He served until July 25, 1865.
A family story is that later in life Daniel had to be tied to a tree, the family thinking he had rabies, so they could work the farm without him wondering off. Now we know this as the desease Ronald Reagan has. (Sorry, couldn't spell it! :o) )

Daniel was a respected member of the town of Sparks. He was a one time owner of the Farmer's and Merchant's Bank (the building still stands today) along with his son Clarence. On February 24, 1903 he was elected onto the Board of Trustees in Sparks. Before owning the F and M Bank he was the Vice President of the Bank in 1902. He owned the Southland Cotton Seed Oil Company and the Farmers Union Gin. 7) Margaret Frances (my great grandmother) b. March 9, 1874 in Ohio d. February 22, 1956 m. July 21, 1897 to Ben Johnson b. Lars JOHNSON was born November 27, 1828 in Kvistofta Parish, Skane, Sweden. At the age of 16 (1844), Lars was sentenced to be beheaded for participating in robbery and manslaughter. But King Oscar I of Sweden pardened him to life inprison instead. Lars served 14 years in prison. King Oscar I released him in May of 1858 under th econdition that he work and live with his brother Bengt Lundgren, Council member of Helsingborg, Sweden. Lars came to America in 1859 and slowly made his way from Boston, to Illnois, to Kansas, then in 1893 to Kickapoo Country, Lincoln Co., Oklahoma. Lars married Mary O'CONNER of Ireland d/o Charles and Julia O'CONNERS in Boston on Feb. 18, 1859. Lars died on November 29, 1898, he is buried in Wright Cemetary in Chandler, OK. The editer of the Chandler News wrote his Obit and esteemed Lars for his many good qualities. 8) Thomas Ira b. October 10, 1878 d. December 2, 1918 9) Sarah Bell b. December 2, 1875 Married Edward Samuel OLIPHANT both Sara and Edward are buried in Forrest Cemetary. 10) Sophie Ann died as a child

DUGGAN, At noon on Tuesday, September 22, 1891, Isaac W. Duggan was one of some 20,000 in a crowd of people preparing to make the second Oklahoma land run. Ike mounted his horse and when the gun sounded he set out to stake a claim on 160 acres which is now located 3 miles north and 1 miles east of Prague, Lincoln County, Oklahoma. I have this family back to the original ancestor and will be most happy to help anyone who is related to this family to document their research into my research. The descendents of this family are still living on the original homestead today.

Seeking info re: Charles Frayer and Edith Wallen Frayer early settlers when Lincoln County was Indian Territory. Charles was an attorney and a school teacher. They had a farm outside Stroud. Their family included: Ruth Frayer Terry a lifelong resident of Stroud who was married to Bob Terry, a Stroud automobile dealer; Chloe Frayer Collum married John Newton Collum and Chloe's sister Bess married John's brother Joe; Darwin Frayer became an attorney and practiced in Oklahoma City until his death; Chloe had a twin, Pearl Frayer Foster who resided in Tulsa until her death, another sister Blanche went back to Ohio, Annie lived near Stroud, and another sister, Flora married Sid Stein, publisher of the Tulsa World and lives in Tulsa. Charles Frayer was in Michigan in 1859 and was an orphan who worked on a farm and got a law degree. He was a prosecuting attorney and justice of the peace. He was also in Ohio before coming to Indian Territory.
