James Martin Hembree born 1880 and died 1965 born in Huntsville, Scott Co. Tennessee. James married Mary Magdalene Lowe July 14, 1901 in Huntville, she was born 1883 and died 1964. Both James and Mary are buried in the Farris Cemetery in Atoka Co.

James Martin and Mary (Lowe) Hembree had 13 children:

Mike 1902 - 1986 buried in Arlington Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Ezella Houchin and Florida Howell.

Garfield "Gar" 1904 - 1976. Married Janie Garman, 1905 - 1982, they are both buried in Snyder, Texas.

Marion "Yank" 1905 - 1968. Married Ella Mae Houchin 1909 - 1982, both are buried in the Farris Cemetery in Atoka Co. Oklahoma.

Lovis 1908 - 1995. Married Fred Cullens 1903 - 1984, both are buried in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Matilda "Tildie" 1909 - 1936 (Christmas Day). Married 1. Clarence Wallace, 2. Marvin Miller. Buried in Atoka Cemetery, Atoka, Oklahoma.

Helen 1910 - 1919, death due to burns caused by children playing with fire. Buried in Atoka.

Mary Jane 1913, 88 years old, the last of this family, married Roland A Standifer May 15, 1932 in Atoka. He was born in 1915 in Wilburton, Latimer Co., Oklahoma and died in Bakersfield, Kern Co., CA. on May 3, 1979 and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bakersfield, Kern Co., CA.

Elaine 1915 - 1917, buried in Tushka

Frank "sonny" 1918 - 1969. Married 1. Beulah Draper 2. Beverly Fondren 3. Janell Johnson. He is buried in Farris Cemetery.

Harmon 1919 - 2000. Maried Hazel Shatswell 1920 - 2000, They are both buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Oklahoma City.

Fannie Lou "Jimmie" 1921 - 2002. Married 1. Hollis McDaniel and 2. Tom Bowman. Hollis and Tom are buried in Arlington Cemetery, Oklahoma City. 
Aunt Sissy just died the 25th of Jan. and was cremated and her ashes are to be buried in Arlington with Hollis and their son Leonard.

Bertha 1924 - 1982. Married Rufus Bryant they are both buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Oklahoma City.

Statement by Dale Standifer: My Grandfather Robert Whitten Standifer was born in 1881 in Collin Co. Texas and died in 1938 in Farris and is buried in the Farris Cemetery, His first wife, my Grandmother Mary Estella Farmer 1882 - 1920 is buried in Cupco Church Cemetery near Yaunish, Oklahoma. My Grandfather's 2nd wife was Fannie Cames, who later married a Blackwell and is also buried in the Farris Cemetery.

James Martin Hembree

Reverend James Martin Hembree was born May 7, 1880 in Huntsville, Scott County, Tennessee and passed away January 15, 1965 at Atoka, Oklahoma.

He was called into the ministry in 1930 and is well known throughout Atoka County as "Uncle Jim", where he enjoyed thirty-five years of his ministry for the Lord. He pastored several churches in Eastern Oklahoma, and built the church at Farris, Oklahoma. His last pastorate was at Crystal, Oklahoma, and his last sermon was preached at the Antlers Assembly of God Church a short time before his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene Lowe Hembree, on March 21, 1964 and is survived by five sons, four daughters, twenty-seven grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren. The last services for Brother Hembree were held at the Farris Assembly of God Church on January 19, 1965 and burial was in the Farris Cemetery.

Mary Hembree

Mary Hembree, wife of J. M. Hembree, passed away March 21, 1964 in Antlers Hospital. She was buried March 24, 1964 in Farris Cemetery. Services were at Assembly of God Church in Farris, Rev. Martin officiating, where she was a faithful member.

Born 1883 in Huntsville, Scotts County, Tennessee her parents were Mike and Judy Lowe. She married her school day sweetheart J. M. Hembree July 14, 1901 in Huntsville, Scott Co., TN. They had known each other and lived a short distance apart. They had been married 64 happy years.

She had 14 children, 9 children still living. Five boys and 4 girls, Mike, Gar, Yank, Frank, Harmon, Lovis, Jane, Fannie (Jimmy) and Bertha.

Rev. J. M. Hembree would like to express my thanks to the many friends, relatives, churches, pastors, doctors and hospital staff for all and every thing, prayers and kindness.
