ERMA CATHERINE GILBERT

Funeral services were conducted June 27, 1940 at Caney Baptist Church with Rev. R. C. Miller of Atoka officiating.

Burial was in Caney Cemetery under the direction of Gus Poole Funeral Home of Durant.

A housewife, she died June 26, 1940, after a long illness.

Born in Tennessee, she was the daughter of Adolphus William Gilbert and Delilah Hensley Gilbert. She had lived most of her adult life in Caney and Atoka and was a member of Atoka First Baptist Church.

She was married to George Madison Adair in the Caney Baptist Church December 25, 1905.

She was preceded in death by an infant son an is survived by her husband George Maddison (Mat) Adair, and the following children; Mrs. Myrtle Byrum, Moe Adair and Royal Adair of Atoka, Mrs. Georgia Lou Childress and Mrs. Ruthylene Hall of Caney; Mrs. Ruby Ernert of Grand Junction, Colorado; Mrs. Bernice Huffhines of Dallas, Texas. One sister, Mrs. Bertha Crow of Arcata, California and one brother William Finley of Los Angeles, California, twelve grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
