Adin resident, Joseph DILLARD, passed away January 14, 2003, at the age
of 85. Graveside services will be held at the Adin Community Cemetery, Adin,
CA. on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00.

Mr. Dillard was born January 12,1918 in Stringtown, Oklahoma. He served with the U.S. Army during World War ll from 1942 to 1945. He was retired after 27 years at the Naval Fuel Depot in Pt. Molate, CA.

Mr. Dillard and his wife Jane reared their family and lived in Martinez, CA for 24 years, where he was involved in many community organizations. He and Jane retired to Adin, CA where they enjoyed many happy years on their ranch.

Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane, now a resident of Concord (CA); a son Joe and daughter-in-law Sue of Susanville (CA); a son Bill and daughter-in-law Cathy of Fairfield (CA); and a daughter Mary Jane and son-in-law Mike Byrne of Burlingame (CA).

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Submitter Note: This caught my eye as I am trying to locate my DILLARD family in Oklahoma --- Caleb & Filicity Dillard, who had a son, Minton Edward, born in OK 1856, (1870 CA census). Caleb was the son of Joseph & Vermillion "Milly" Dillard who had moved from Arkansas.
