JOE WYATT MORRIS SERVICE HELD

Antlers resident, Joe Wyatt Morris, was born on July 14, 1983 in Ada, Oklahoma and passed from this life on February 19, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 17 years.

Wyatt has been a resident of Antlers for the past 5 years. He was a junior at Antlers High School and a member of the Upward Bound through ECU in Ada. He attended the Church of Christ in Paris, Texas. His hobbies were computers, collecting dragons, spending time with his dog 'Ace', and music. Wyatt was loved by many and will be missed by all.

He leaves behind his parents: Butch and Denise Morris of Antlers, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Angela Marie Morris of Mannford, Oklahoma; grandparents: George and Velda Hill of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Harold and Jenny Morris of Wayne, Oklahoma; 1 great-grandmother: Jency Marie Hill of Ada, Oklahoma; 2 aunts: Treva Bailey of Ada, Oklahoma and Janey Featherly of Houston, Texas; 1 uncle: Joe Morris of Noble, Oklahoma; 5 cousins: Wayne Bailey of Ada, Oklahoma, Megan Hill and Eryn Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nick and Jenny Morris of Noble, Oklahoma.

Wyatt was preceded in death by his uncle: James Hill.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in the Antlers High School Auditorium with Brother William St. John officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were: Paul Nabors, Rick Blankenship, Toby Winningham, Curtis Eastman, David Smith, Harold Bruce, Carter Cogburn, and Sonny Jacks.

He was laid to his final resting place at Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers, Oklahoma.

Antlers resident Sylva M. Braden was born May 17, 1913 in Avery, Texas and passed away on February 19, 2001 in Denison, Texas at the age of 87 years.

Silva has been a resident of Antlers for the past 30 years. She attended Souls Harbor Church from 1975 to 1997 and Victory Life Assembly of God Church in Rattan from 1997 to present. She was a housewife and enjoyed fishing, poem writing, vacationing and most of all Bible reading.

She is survived by 1 son: Donnie Lloyd Braden of Denison, Texas; 1 daughter: Marcelle Straub of Antlers, Oklahoma; her brother: John L. Morgan of Cleburnne, Texas; 2 sisters: Gussie Medows of Alvarado, Texas and Ruth Allen of Joshua, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Terrill Coggins of Tacoma, Washington, Twala Coggins of Seattle, Washington, Jack Kirk of Sherman, Texas, Melissa Horner of Sherman, Texas, and Chad Kirk of Sherman, Texas; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Willis and Ethel Morgan; her husband: Lloyd Braden; and 2 sisters: Elaine Pitts and Neville Morgan.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mills & Coffey Chapel with Pastor Kent Jensen officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were: Gary Wiebers, Gene Holloway, Sid Couch, Jerry Hill, Robert Horner, and Chad Kirk.
Honorary pallbearers included: Terrill Coggins and Jack Kirk.

Burial was held at the Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Okahoma.

Lifetime Antlers resident, Zula Mae Smallwood was born August 23, 1931 in Corrine, Oklahoma and passed away on February 22, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years.

Zula was Senior Interviewer for Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband: Roy Smallwood of the home; son: Roy (Mike) Smallwood and wife Jane of Rattan, Oklahoma; daughter: Peggy Lawless and husband Larry; brothers-in-law: Leo Smallwood and wife Jane of Rattan, Oklahoma; Gilbert Smallwood and wife Anna Florance of Rattan, Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Ann Smallwood; aunt: Gracie Borba of Haywood, California; 2 grandchildren: Christopher Lawless of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Adam Lawless of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; nephews: Steve, Eddie, Mark, Dusty, Gary, and Billy Smallwood: nieces: Liz Joslin, Deborah, Steffie O'Dell, Leah Beth Edwards, Nancy Rose and Gayle Johnson.

Mrs. Smallwood was preceded in death by her parents: John Henry Halley and Mildred "Mittie" (Anderson-Halley) Matthews and 1 sister: Mildred Celest Goff.

Funeral services were held: Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rattan with Reverend Sam Pace and Reverend J. W. Ray officiating.

Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Maynard was born November 30, 1908 in Pine Ridge, Kansas and passed away on February 21, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years.

Sallie was a longtime resident of this area. She was a housewife and member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, gardening and quilting.

She is survived by her son: Billy Joe Maynard of Long Island, New York and daughter, Mickie A. Blair of Lancaster, California; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents: Ashley & Sarah (Clayton) Williams; husband: Clyde Maynard; daughter: Bobbie Jean Hooker and sister: Ivy Brown.

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 23, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mills & Coffey Chapel with D. Brent Franks officiating.

VERAL DEAN WALLS SERVICE HELD

Veral Dean Walls was born on April 2, 1912 in Gertie, Oklahoma and passed away on February 19, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years.

Veral was a longtime resident of Antlers. She was the owner and operator of Walls Fabric Shop and a member of the Antlers Church of Christ. She had taught children's Sunday School for several years.

She lived in Corrine and spent several years in California during WWII, then the family moved back to this area following the war. She has been to all the states except Hawaii after the age of 5. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Veral is survived by daughter-in-law: Laverne Walls of Antlers; brother: Ray Rymel of Antlers; sister: Thelma Dial of Antlers; 3 grandchildren: Tonya Barnett, Teah Pietrowicz and Tony Walls; 6 great-grandchildren: Eric Barnett, Summer Barnett, Zashley Pietrowicz, Cassie Weems and Charlie Walls.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Eugene and Lizzie Rymel; husband: Charlie R. Walls; son: Charles Haskell Walls; 2 brothers: Hal Rymel and Jerry Rymel; 2 sisters: Phala Wilmeth and Lois Mills.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Antlers Church of Christ with Brent Franks officiating.

Burial was held at the Walls Family Cemetery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma.

CLAUDE WINTERS SERVICE HELD

Claude Winters was born on July 9, 1910 in Bennington, Oklahoma and passed away on February 17, 2001 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years.

Claude worked at the Pushmataha County Clerk for 12 years and worked in Halley Drug for 25 years.

He completed high school at Antlers and went on to Tulsa Business College. He was Staff Sargent with the U. S. Army 36th Division during World War II. During his service he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, The E. A. M. E. Service Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, the American Defense Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. He also served with the Oklahoma National Guard Reserve. Claude was a member of the Antlers community for most of his life and enjoying working with the 4-H and FFA. He was a member of the Baptist faith and will be missed.

Claude is survived by his wife: Annabell of Tulsa; 2 sons: Gary Winters and wife Barbara of Tulsa, and Albert Brown and wife, Maxine of Antlers; 1 daughter: Lynn Childers and husband Gaylin of Coalgate, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Gladys Winters of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Barbara Hendricks of Fairfax, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Abe and Arvin Winters, brothers, Willie Winters and Paul Winters and sister, Virgie Muns.

Funeral services were held February 20, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Antlers with Reverend Sam Dyer officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were: Steve Burrage, Harrison Stewart, Roy Earl Jackson, Stanley Rains, Curtis Belcher, and Mitch Brown.

Honorary pallbearers included: Wick Smith, James Morrison, Roy Smallwood, and Bill Henry.

Burial was held at the Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.

EUNICE EVELYN SWIFT SERVICE HELD

Eunice Evelyn Swift was born April 30, 1937 in Belzoni, Oklahoma and passed away on February 11, 2001 at the Push. Hospital in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years.

Eunice was a lifelong resident of Antlers and a member of the Glory Hill Assembly of God Church at Finley, Oklahoma. She was a restaurant manager and enjoyed spending time watching boys sports and music, playing her mandalon and singing. She also enjoyed being with her children, especially at Christmas time. She loved flower gardening and hummingbirds.

Eunice is survived by her ex-husband: James Moon of Antlers; 3 sons: Ricky G. Swift and wife Joyce of McKinney, Tx.; Rodney A. Swift of McKinney, Tx. and David L. Swift of Antlers. 1 daughter, Debbie E. Swift of Antlers; 2 brothers: Bill Allen of Oklahoma City and Ralph Allen of Antlers; 3 grandchildren: Yancy Swift and Carissa Swift of Cloudcroft, New Mexico , and Andrew Swift of McAlester; 2 step-grandchildren: Leslie Evans and Cody Hutchens, both of McKinney, Tx.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Staley and Dovie (Carter) Allen.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 15, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glory Hill Assembly of God Church with Pastor Larry Womack officiating.

ALVIN J. MORRIS SERVICES HELD

Alvin J. Morris passed away on Friday, April 13, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years.
Alvin was born on November 2, 1911 in Pickens, Oklahoma to Calvin and Alma Morris. Mr. Morris lived in this area all of his life. He was a well-known businessman and owner of Morris Hardward and Wholesale. Mr. Morris has also owned Morris Lumber and ran a grocery and post office in Oleta for many years. Other businesses included saw mills, sale barns, area motels, and the Antlers Democrat Newspaper. Being active in the community, Mr. Morris served on the school board, hospital board, city councils and the Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Grace E. Morris of the home, 2 sons: Don Morris and Terry Morris and wife, Carol all of Antlers.

Grandchildren: Alesia Ricketta, Angelia and Todd Theis, Chris and Lisa Morris, and Tajah and David Liddy.
Great-grandchildren: Amy Dawn Walls, Colt Morris, Kayden Morris, Tanner Morris, and Conner Liddy.
Nephew: Dane Morris and wife, June; Nieces: Marcia Fittzgibbon and husband Dale, and Maritta Helm and husband, Don.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Elvin Morris and sister: Francis Elizabeth Morris.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Antlers First Baptist Church with Reverend Sam Dyer and Reverend Sam Pace officiating.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Cooksey, wife of W. A. Cooksey, Soper, were held at the First Baptist Church at Soper at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Rev. Fred A. Tucker and M. R. Archer of Antlers conducted the service.

Burial was at Soper Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home, Hugo, directing.

Mrs. Cooksey, 64 yrs. old, died at the Medical Arts Hospital in Hugo at 2:45 p.m., Monday, from a paralytic stroke suffer while on she visit with her daughter, Mrs. E. E. Woodruff in Antlers 2 weeks ago.

Mrs. Dora Casey was born in Roxton, Texas, and was married to W. A. Cooksey at Paris, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma, Choctaw County, soon after statehood and to this union eight children were born.

Surviving besides her husband, are three daughters, Mrs. George White, of Houston, TX; Mrs. E. E. Woodruff of Antlers, Mrs. Perry Collum, of Soper; 3 sons, Rufus Cooksey of Soper, Jack Cooksey of Port Arthur, TX, Earnest Cooksey of Antlers. Also 6 grandchildren: Charlie Cooksey of Port Arthur, TX, Arleene, Bernice, and J. W. Collum, Martha Golden Cooksey of Soper, and Billy Woodruff, of Antlers.
She have 2 sisters: Mrs. Mrs. Florence White of Borgen, TX, and Mrs. Clara Singleton of Soper. 2 nieces, Mrs. Thulena Cooper of Seminole and Mrs. Willis Marshall of Soper, and 1 nephew, Son Singleton of Soper.

Dora Cooksey is member of Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were: A. Reagan, L. E. Ferguson, Eurl Hawkins of Soper, and Bob Baker, Roy Cole and Pete Stafford of Antlers.

Littie Irene born in Miller Community, died Thursday morning in the family residence.

Rites for Littlie Irene Phillips, 12 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Phillips of Miller community, were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 30, in the church at Miller. The Rev. Buddie Kimes officiating. Interment was in the Miller Cemetery under the direction of the Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers.

Survivors besides the parents are 5 brothers: John and Harold of home; Purvis of Kansas City; Woody of Dallas; Jesse of Dumas, TX; 4 sisters: Marjorie of home; Mrs. Lois Munger of Okla. City; Mrs. Evelyn Turner of McKinney, TX; Mrs. Frankie Jackson of Glenrose, TX.

William Henry Keller

Funeral services for William Henry Keller, 92, were at 2:30 p.m., Friday in the Assembly of God Church. Arrangement were of the Coffey Funeral Home, interment at the Darwin Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Kate; 2 sons, H. M. Keller of Antlers; G. W. Keller of Ponco City; daughter, Mrs. Daisy Slate of Purcell; 17 grandchildren.

Mr. Keller, born in Indiana, June 17, 1858. He died in the family residence at 9:30 p.m., December 27. Mr. Keller, a member of Church of Christ and lived in Antlers the last 45 years.

Pallbearers were: Woody Pace, J. B. Burkhan, J. R. Hensley, J. A. Lindley, Lee Wilson and T. M. Hargrave.

Mrs. Nellie Runnels Fowlkes, who with her husband, Bud Fowlkes, came to Antlers in 1892, died Friday evening at her home here.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul Baptist Church, followed by interment in the Antlers Cemetery.

Rev. T. E. Walton, of Arthur City, Baptist Church pastor, conducted the rites, assisted by Rev. C. R. Horne and Rev. Lee D. Moore. The obituary was read by Mrs. L. B. Burnell.

Mrs. Fowlkes is survived by her husband, Bud Fowlkes, 2 daughters, Mrs. Hazel Frazier and Miss Ollye Elizabeth Fowlkes of Hugo; 2 sons, Thurl Tanner and Willie A. Fowlkes of Antlers; 2 grandsons, Leo Whitlow and Willie Fowlkes, Jr. of the U. S. Air Force.

Survived by her husband, Oscar Sconyers of the home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Edna Kelly of Merced, Calif, and Mrs. Lois Long of Fresno; 5 sons, Henry Sconyers of Gustine, Calif, Horace Sconyers of Corinne; Haskell Sconyers of San Diego, Calif, Hollis Sconyers of Bakersfield, Calif, and Earl Sconyers of Merced, Calif.; 1 sister, Mrs. Lola Manary of Durando Beach, Calif.; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Sconyers, a member of the Baptist Mission Church, was born August 8, 1887 in Missouri.

Unknown Man Buried in Antlers Cemetery

James Burch, about 55 years old, died Friday morning shortly after one o'clock in the former Kelly Hotel. Mr. Burch came to Antlers about six weeks ago from the lower Mississippi Valley, he confided to acquaintances at the hotel. He was taken ill Thursday at the L.A. London blacksmith shop where he was employed.

Efforts were made by the proper authorities to locate the relatives of the deceased with no avail and he was buried in the Antlers Cemetery Tuesday.

Funeral services for Wesley Earnest, 69, of Antlers were held Monday, December 27, 1971 at 2:30 p.m. in the Finley Church of Christ with Charles Walls, Jr. officiating.

Mr. Earnest was born April 14, 1902 in Checotah, Texas and died December 22, 1971 in the Pushmataha Hospital at Antlers. He had lived in the Finley and Antlers communities for some 47 years.

He is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; one son, Charles Earnest of San Jose, Calif; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Younge of Antlers; four brothers, J.B. (FUNERAL SERVICES HELD HERE AND OKMULGEE FOR MRS. OLIVE ADAMS).

Mrs. Mable Shobert Adams, wife of Oliver Adams, and one of the most loved among the Antlers business ladies, passed to her rich reward Saturday afternoon at 6:45 o'clock, in the home of her mother, Mrs. Ida Shobert, in Okmulgee.

For many years, Mrs. Adams was an employee of the Jones Funeral Home. Her smile and pleasant word for all with whom she came in contact, has endeared her into the hearts and memories of all who knew her. She was truly the most agreeable and pleasant Christian.

It was about six months ago that Mrs. Adams became ill. Soon thereafter she resigned her position and entered a hospital for a major operation. Her doctorss could not offer any encouragement to the family, however, Mrs. Adams was not told of her grave condition. She was removed to the home of ther mother and relatives and close friends knew the end was not far off.

Her body was brought to Antlers and Monday funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fred A. Tucker, at the Methodist Church and he was assisted by other pastors of the town. Her body was returned to Okmulgee where the last rites were held Tuesday at the Davis Funeral Chapel and burial was made in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Rev. Tucker also conducted the services in Okmulgee, assisted by the ministers of Okmulgee.

Mrs. Adams was born April 20, 1893 in Corning, N. Y.; was married to Oliver Adams Jan. 12, 1914. She had been a member of the Methodist Church for 25 years. They came to Antlers 12 years ago. Besides her mother and husband, she is survived by a son, Shobert, and five brothers and one sister: Russell Shobert, Canton, Ohio; Loyd Shobert, Fairbanks, Texas; Rex Shobert, Wewoka, Okla.; Ned Shobert, Wawaii, and Marion Shobert, Okmulgee.

Pallbearers were Pete Stafford, L. T. Suttle, Clark Wasson, Fayette O'Neal, Harold Smith, and Stuart B. Halley, Jr.

NASHOBA RANCHER DIES FRIDAY IN HUGO HOSPITAL

Services for Peter Weiss, 52, Nashoba rancher, were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the community church at Nashoba, the Reverend Harold Dunson officiating.

Interment was in the Antlers City Cemetery. Arrangement were in charge of a funeral home in Hugo, assisted by the Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers.

Mr. Weiss died at 3 p.m. Friday of last week in a Hugo hospital. He was born April 23, 1898 in South Dakota. Before moving to Nashoba community during the past year, he lived at Alva in the northwestern part of Oklahoma. He bought out a ranch between Snow and Nashoba.

Survivors are his wife, Bessie; two children, Mrs. Marjorie Shillings, Dallas, Texas and Jack Weiss, Edmond; a brother and three sisters: John Weiss, Wheatland, Wyo.; Mrs. Ella Chambers, Lander, Wyo.; Mrs. Ellis Waleland, Scott City, Kan., and Mrs. Mary Steele, Puente, California.

SERVICES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. IVY GILES

Rites for Mrs. Ivy Giles, 39, were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Assembly of God church in Finley, the Reverend Will Kellett, of Antlers officiating.

Interment was made in the Finley Cemetery, the Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers directing.

Mrs. Giles was born January 1, 1912 in the Jumbo vicinity and lived all of her life in this county. She died at 3 a.m. January 9 in the family residence. Mrs. Giles was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Finley.

Survivors, besides her husband, Glifford Giles, are two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Kelly of Route 1, Antlers; Mrs. Dorothy Goforth of Alto, Texas; four brothers, Buck Savage, Sam Savage, Woody Savage and Tudor Savage.

Olen Vernon Balmain, 80, of Westville died Sunday, July 8, 1990, in Thalequah. He was a factory laborer and a long time resident of Finley, Pushmataha County, Oklahoma.

Funeral services for Ruby Lucille Young of Finley, were held Sunday, Feburary 18, 1990 at the Finley Assembly of God Church. Interment followed at the A. L. Stephen Cemetery in Clayton.

Ruby Lucille Young was born January 8, 1909 in Russellville, Arkansas; and died February 16, 1990 in the Pushmataha Hospital.

Surviving relatives include three daughters: Ann Williams and Iva Saunders both of Snow; and Inez Williams of Finley; four sons: Henry Young and Don Young of Finley; Jess Young of Sardis; and Bill Young of North Jackfork; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; three: half-sisters and one: half-brother.

Serving as pallbearers were Bill Bohanon, Bryon Bohanon, Don King, Buddy Wilson, Richard Prince, and Felbert James.

FUNERAL RITES CONDUCTED FOR GROVER YOUNG

Services for Grover Cleveland Young of Clayton, were held Monday, December 30 in the Sardis community building in Sardis. Reverend Alton Linder and Reverend Walter Perdue officiated.

Young, 69 years old, was born March 16, 1905, in Lequire. He had lived in this community since 1918 as a farmer and rancher. He died in the Pushmataha Hospital December 28.

Interment was held at the A. L. Stephens Cemetery in Clayton with Coffey Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby "Lucille" Young of the home, four sons, Henry Young, Jesse Young, and Bill Young of Sardis, and Donald Young of Choctaw; three daughters, Ann Williams of Finley, Iva Saunders of El Paso, Texas, and Inez Williams of Oklahoma City; one brother, Homer Young of Wister; one sister, Lona Cornelius of El Cajon, California; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Ammizon Bud Impson, a resident of Antlers, who died in the Antlers Nursing Home Sunday at the age of 89.

A retired law enforcement officer and resident of this area all his life, he was born April 16, 1888 in Impson Valley, Indian Territory and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving him are his son, Bob Impson, Antlers; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Reverend H.L. Morrison officiated at the services held in the Mills and Coffey Chapel.

Interment was in the Finley Cemetery under the direction of the Mills and Coffey Funeral Home.

Eva I. Blue, 61, of Divide, passed away August 25, 1995, in Antlers. She was born May 4, 1934, at Matoy, to Henry and Beulah Carter Alexander. She married Roy Blue, September 7, 1962 in Hugo. She was a lifelong resident of Pushmataha County. She was Library Assistant at Clayton Public Schools for a number of years and she attended the Christ Church at Nashoba.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Blue of the home; three daughters, Debbie Johnson of Finley, Sherry Frazier of Antlers; Rita Reed of Divide; one son, Rodney Blue of Clayton; four brothers, Jack Alexander, Russell Alexander, Charles Alexander, and Larry Alexander; three sisters, Florence Ben, Jewell Fry and Ruby Wheeler; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Clayton High School Auditorium, Monday, August 28, 1995, at 10:00 a.m., with Charles Talbott officiating. He was assisted by Harold Starbuck.

Interment was held in the Finley Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Troy Blue, Steve Stidham, Jimmy Allensworth, Bill Johnson, Randall Frazier and Tim Reed.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Moon, Roy E. Jackson and Allen Blue.

FUNERAL RITES CONDUCTED FOR H. R. ALEXANDER

Funeral service was held Saturday June 9, 1973 for Henry Russell Alexander, 77, of Snow. The service was held in the Clayton Christ Church with Paul Cook officiating assisted by Ted Loving.

Mr. Alexander was born September 29, 1895 at Fulsom, Oklahoma (Indian Territory) and died June 7, 1973 in the local hospital. Mr. Alexander lived in the Snow community for 37 years, and was a veteran of World War 1.

Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife Beulah; four sons, Jack Alexander of Snow, Russell Alexander of Snow, Charles Alexander of Clayton, and Larry Alexander of McAlester; four daughters, Florence Ben of Snow, Jewell Martin of Tulsa, Ina Blue of Snow, and Ruby Wheeler of Finley; 42 grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren. He had three sisters, Willie Sells of Durant, Mable Smith of Caddo, and Mary Nation of Caddo, Okla, two brothers, Jim Alexander of Norman, and Bee Alexander of Eldorado, Kansas.

Pallbearers were Mark McIntosh, Roy E. Jackson, James Elliott, Pete Robbins, Ed Jackson, and Ted Hill.

Interment was held at the A. L. Stephens cemetery at Clayton. Arrangements were handled through Coffey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the Clayton school auditorium with Reverend Bert Jones, Reverend Ron Foster and Reverend Paul Cook officiating.

Leona Lawless, 94, of Antlers, passed away on Monday, May 6, 1996, in the Pushmataha Hospital. She was born January 28, 1902, at Sims, Texas, to R. E. "Bob" and Naarah (Newsom) Clark. She was a lifelong resident of Pushmataha County, moving with her family to Sobol in 1909. She had lived in Antlers for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Antlers First Baptist Church, where she taught Ladies' Bible School and Adult Bible Study. She had worked for many years at Wood Brothers' Store in Antlers, as a sales clerk.

Mrs. Lawless was preceded in death by her husband, A. A. Lawless, Sr. ; her parents, R.E. "Bob" and Naarah Clark, and a daughter, Lois Duniho.

Survivors include: her four children, Doyle Lawless and his wife Mattie; Wayne Lawless and his wife Sirena of Antlers; Sybil Dummer and her husband Wilmer of Dallas, Texas; Almurn Lawless, Jr. and his wife, Patsy of Antlers. Other relatives include two sisters, Mildred Miller of Dallas, Texas; and Chrystine Chaney of Oxnard, California; 17 grand-children, 32 great-grandchildren; and 6 step-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at the Antlers First Baptist Church. Doyle Lawless and Ron Dummer will officiate the services. Burial will be held in the Antlers City Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Lawless was the son of A. L. and Ellen Lawless who preceded him in death. He enjoyed gardening, squirrel hunting, singing and had sung in a quartet for many years.

Bob Clark Is Buried Friday; Died Wednesday (d. 17 Dec 1952)

Services for R. E. (Bob) Clark, resident of Antlers (Pushmataha County) the last 33 years were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, December 19 in the First Methodist Church in Antlers. The Rev. O.L. Peek, pastor officiated, assisted by Mr. Clark's grandson, Doyle Lawless, of Fort Worth. The internment was made in the Antler's City Cemetery.

Surviving are the widow, Naarah Clark of the home; two sons, Elvis Clark of Dallas; Ivan Clark of Redbluff, Calif.: five daughters, Mrs. A.A. Lawless of Antlers; Mrs. O.D. Mason of Dallas; Mrs. A. R. Ogilvie of Hilsborough, Calif.; Mrs. B.M. Miller of Dallas; Mrs. C. F. Chaney of Los Angeles; one grandson of the home, Elbert Edwin, and 15 other grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edd Hodge of Cleveland, Texas.

Casket bearers were Ross Orr, Curtis Parker, Woody Pace, David L. Stephenson, Kenneth S. Lawson, Cecil Sharp. Honorary bearers were P.W. Hudson, C.E. Stephenson, C.E. Clark died at 4:20 a.m., December 17 in the Antlers Medical Center. He was born July 9, 1880, in Naples, Morris County, Texas. He was 72 years old. Mr. Clark was a Methodist by faith. He was serving as justice of the peace for the town of Antlers, an elective position which he filled for several years. He also served a number of years as City Marshal of Antlers, and at one time was deputy sheriff during Sam Stephens' administration.

Coffey Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Emma Belmain (Balmain) died at the family home near Finley on Christmas day of an attack of flu and pneumonia. She was born at Blossom, Texas, February 18, 1878. Surviving her are her husband and seven children, four boys and three girls, the youngest child being 11 years old. Beside her immediate family she leaves three brothers.

Nine years ago Mrs. Belmain (Balmain) became a member of the Christian Church. Her funeral services were conducted at the Union Church in Finley by Elder George Childers on December 26th. Burial was made in the Finley Cemetery.
