Graveside services for Paul Edward JAMES, 42, of Cameron, are being held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fairhill (Knothole) Cemetery in Cameron with Rev. Kevin Fitzgerald officiating, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. He was born April 6, 1960, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Robert and Eva (COLLEY) JAMES. He died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, in Fort Smith. He married Glenda SWEETEN on April 3, 1981, in Cameron. Survivors include his wife, Glenda JAMES of the home; one daughter, Shelby; three brothers, Robert, David and Willard; three sisters, Dorathy, Bessie and Mollie; and many beloved friends and family. He was preceded in death by her (his) parents and two brothers, George JAMES and Ernest JAMES.

Funeral services for Jessie C. JOHNSON, 92, of Bunch, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Mallory Chapel in Sallisaw, with burial in the Flute Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Arkansas, to James and Bertha (MILLER) JOHNSON. He died Thursday, Jan.30, 2003, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Edith Marie (GLASS) JOHNSON, of the home; three daughters, Sue, Karen, and May; five sons, Wayne, Ervin, Bob, Jim and Lindal; one sister, Marie; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son; one sister, Opal; two brothers, J.B. and Ray and his parents.

Funeral services for Gordon PERRY, 77, of Warner, are being held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Agent Chapel in Gore, with Minister Bob Burris officiating. Burial is in South Bethel Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gore. He was born on Jan. 28, 1926, in Braggs to Lizzie PERRY. He died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, in Warner. He married Clara E. GOAD on Oct. 18, 1952, in Modesto, Calif. Survivors include his wife, Clara PERRY of the home; one daughter, Rita; one son, Spencer; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by is mother.

Funeral services for Loretta Ruby 'Retti' RAY, 83, of Modesto, Calif., formerly of Vian, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Blackgum Harvestime Church in Blackgum with Rev. Chris Armer officiating. Burial was in Box Cemetery, north of Vian, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She was born June 21, 1919, in Taney County, Mo., to Willis and Alice (HENSON) RISLEY. She died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in Modesto. Survivors include one daughter, Lois; three sons, Doyle, Duwayne W., and Donald W.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jaunita, and Jewel; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin RAY on Oct 19, 1995, and one daughter, Lois V. STANLEY.

Funeral services for James C. SNOW, 72, of Rogers, Ark., are being held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren, Ark., with burial in Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. Survivors include his wife, Romona of the home; one daughter, Lynette; one son, Ray; three sisters, Maxine, Fay and Donnell; three brothers, L.C., and Bill and Kenneth.

Graveside services for Harold Charles ALLEN, 82, of Rosepine, La., formerly of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Blackjack Cemetery northwest of Muldrow with Monte Johnson and Doug Harvell officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. He was born May 12, 1920, in Blackjack community, to Charles Abb ALLEN and Ora Viola (WILSON) ALLEN. He died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in Rosepine. He married Hazel May SOUTHERLAND on July 11, 1941, in Moffett. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1999. Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Sue, Amy, Candy, and Lisa; one son Charles Dwight; and seven grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Wilson ALLEN.

Funeral services for Robert O. "Bob" CARTWRIGHT, 92, of Sallisaw, are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw, with Pastor Vanoy Fitch and Bro. Jim Henson officiating. Burial is in Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral home of Sallisaw. He was born Dec. 7, 1910, in Vernon, Texas, to Benjamin Spencer CARTWRIGHT and Mattie (CLICK) CARTWRIGHT. He died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Sallisaw. Survivors include one sister, Viola; one sister-in-law, Coleta; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Nora (MILLER) CARTWRIGHT on Jan. 20, 1980.

Funeral services for Elizabeth June CHAPLIN, 72, of Wister, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Southside Baptist Church in Poteau, with Rev. Dale Rogers officiating. Burial was in Maxey Cemetery in Wister, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. She was born on Sept. 15, 1930, in Halgen. She died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in Pocola. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Leon; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joy, Tim and Rene, and Mike and Janice; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Joe and Judy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom CHAPLIN.

He died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in Sallisaw. He married Bonnie MILLIGAN on Dec. 9, 1939, in Sequoyah County. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bonnie CRAGHEAD of the home; eight daughters, Lois, June, Ella, Linda, Lahoma, Sally, Lena and Jean; three sons, Doyle, Sam and Rick; 41 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mary; one brother, Calvin; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles CRAGHEAD; one grandson; and one granddaughter.

He died Sunday, Feb 2, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife Melba Louise (REDDEN) DODD of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ray; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Beverly, and Steve and Michelle; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Willard; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Survivors include one son, Jimmie; five daughters, Marie, Frances, Verna, Martha and Dortha; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Carl Jr., Hubert and  M.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; one son; one daughter; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dr. W. Joe HUMPHREY, 58, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw, with Dr. Jim Wells and Joe Henry Humphrey officiating. Burial was in Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was born April 24 1944, in Sallisaw, to Feliz Ivan "Bus" HUMPHREY and Mabel (FINE) HUMPHREY. He died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, in Tulsa. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Tommy; three sons, Shea, Jeff and Chase; two grandchildren; his mother, Mabel HUMPHREY; two sisters, Mary and Patti; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends including his fiance, Jeanine.

Burial was in Buffington Cemetery west of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She was born April 8, 1917, in Boyd, Texas, to Garland WALKER and Eva (RUSSELL) WALKER. She died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in Sallisaw. She married Roy LONG in 1935 at Anadarko. He preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include five daughters, Deloris, Mildred, Velma, Billie and Jane; six sons, Raymond, Don, Jack, Steve, Jimmy and Carl; 50 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth LONG; and two daughters, Francs DAY and Margie NEWPORT.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Inola Funeral Home of Inola. She was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Sallisaw, to John William and Mollie CORLEY GLASS. She died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, in the Inola Health Care Center. She married Howard Basil KIGHT, Feb. 24, 1940, in Sallisaw. Survivors include her husband, Louis EILERS of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and his wife Janet; one daughter and son-in-law Ruby Marie and her husband Paul; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one step-granddaughter; three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard of 58 years; one son, Charles Raymond KIGHT; two granddaughters, Jennifer KIGHT and Julie DAVENPORT; four brothers, Alfred, Earl, Walter and Orvill GLASS; and four sisters, Alice SEPHAS, Addie LOWE, Tilda KNIGHT and Beulah RUNYON.

He was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Marble City, to James Cleveland ROBERTSON and Elizabeth (WALLACE) ROBERTSON. He died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Florene Evelyn McNATT on March 1, 1969, in Silver City, Nev. Survivors include his wife, Florene ROBERTSON of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy and his wife Kim, and Cleve and his fiancee Kelly, and Rick and his wife Gina; six daughters and four (five) sons-in-law, Patty and her husband Mike, Debbie and her husband Pat, Amy and her husband David, Tina and her husband Dean, Loretta and her fiancee Phill, and Tammy and her husband Michael; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene and Ruby. He was born October 30, 1948, in Caraway, Ark., to James Jefferson HEDRICK and Lacie Lee (GARNER) HEDRICK. He died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Vian. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Bruce; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kristi, Marty, Bobby and Joe; one step-daughter, Shannon; two step-sons, James and Kenneth; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Judy; one brother, Eddie. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ben Matthew HEDRICK; and one brother, Johnny Lee HEDRICK.

Burial was in Caney Cemetery, under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah. He was born March 11, 1915, in Harrison, Ark., to Troy D. and Maude Ann (TAYLOR) HOLMES. He died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, in his home. He married Helen Marie JENNINGS on Dec. 5, 1934. She preceded him in death. Mr. HOLMES married Wilma RETHERFORD on Sept. 22, 1986, in Welling. Survivors include his wife, Wilma HOLMES of the home; three sons, Kenny and his wife Rita, and Dalton and his wife Karon, and Paul; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Wanda and her husband Dale, Dorothy, and Carolyn and her husband Martin, and Gail and her husband Edgar; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; four step-children, Carl and his wife Carol, Jody and his wife Sheryl, David and his wife Linda, and Larry and his wife Faye; 19 step-grandchildren; 30 step-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. Burial was in Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Fargo, N.D., to Lewis BESTUL and Valorie (JACOBSON) BESTUL. He married Hazel Marie BENSON on June 14, 1955, in Yuma, Ariz. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2000. Survivors include five daughters and four sons-in-law, Diane and Don, Elaine and Carl, Nora Jean and Gary, Gayle, Robyn Kay and Glenn; four sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Sadie, David, Steven, Duane and Chong; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara and Sally; four brothers, Larry, Bruce, Lawrence and Gregory. He was also preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Roger; and one nephew, Danny ANDERSON.

Funeral services for Plura L. BREASHEARS, 84, of Sallisaw, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Agent Chapel in Sallisaw, with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial was in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction Agents Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She was born  on July 6, 1918, in McKey community, to Maurice Everett RAY and Ada (MARSH) RAY. She died Sunday, Feb 9, 2003, in Sallisaw. She married Frank James BREASHEARS on Feb. 8, 1941, in Sallisaw. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1958. Survivors include one daughter, Norma Jean; two sons, Jim and Jerry; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Ina Mae, Christine and Sylvia; and two brothers, Wayne and Everett. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Junior, Otis and George and one sister, Eva.

Melodine BROOKS,79, of Upland, Calif., formerly of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the Bellevue Mausoleum West End Chapel, with entombment in Bellevue Mausoleum, under the direction of Stone Funeral Home of Upland. She was born on March 30, 1923, in Sallisaw. She died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in Kindred Hospital in Ontario, Calif. Survivors include her husband, D.S. "Peanut" BROOKS of Upland; one daughter, Doris; two sons, Jim D. and John A.; one grandson; one sister, Wanda; two brothers, Kenneth and Jerry; and 18 nieces and nephews.

BROWNFIELD, 75, of Fort Smith, Ark., are being held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston, Ark., with David Crawford officiating, Burial is in Morris Cemetery, in Bloomer, under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston. He was born on June 10, 1927, in Sallisaw, to Raymond BROWNFIELD and Ruth KING. He died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. Survivors include his wife Mattie Mae BROWNFIELD of Fort Smith; and one son, David.

Burial was in Monroe Cemetery, in Monroe, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. She  was born Sept 2, 1926, in Oden, Ark., to Waymon and Lula (SHACKELFORD) HILL. She died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 in St Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include three daughters, Jackie and her husband Michael, Faye and her husband Travis, and Annette and her husband J. C.; one son, Bill and his wife Darlene; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Truman Vinson; and numerous nieces and nephew, and other relatives and friends. Burial will be in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agents Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She was born Sept 10, 1914, in Cowlington, to Perry WEST and Maggie FOSTER. She died Saturday, Feb 8, 2003, in Sallisaw. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty, Maggie and her husband Richard, and Loretta and her husband Olen Jr., and Thelma and her husband James; four sons and three daughters-in-law, William I. and his wife Janet, Lonnie and his wife Judy, Artho and his wife Brenda, and David; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Woodrow and Perry. Burial was in Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was born Dec 20, 1918, in Sallisaw, to E.R. MOODY and Vicy E. (RAYBURN) MOODY. He died Thursday, Feb. 6,2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Lela Jean STEWART on June 4, 1950, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lela MOODY of the home; two sons, Bob and James; and one sister, Bertha.

She died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, in Sallisaw. She married Charles "Dobber" SPARKS on April 4, 1947, in Bakersfield, Calif. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2000.
