Funeral services for John Jonas ELBON, 87, of Blackgum are being held at 10:30 a.m. Satruday at the First Baptist Chruch in Blackgum, with the Revs. Dale Ritter and Randy Proctor officiating.  Burial is in Box Cemetery, north of Vian, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. ELBON was born April 30, 1912, in Sago, W.V., to Grover Cleveland ELBON and Elizabeth (SIMMONS) ELBON. He died Wendesday, March 29, 2000, in Vian.  He married Wilma M. ELBON March 6, 1943, in Vian.  Survivors include his wife, Wilma M. ELBON of the home; five daughters, Betty, Wanda, Freda, Shirley and Nellie; two sons, Edward John "Chief" and Scott; two sisters, Jean and Carda; one brother, Frank; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one special nephew.

Funeral services for Ernest E. "Sonny" NIMMO Jr., 71, of Sallisaw were held at 2 p.m. Thurday at Agent Chapel in Sallisaw, with the Rev. Jerry Green and Monroe Lowrimore officiating. Burial was in Sallisw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.Mr. NIMMO was born July 15, 1928, in Sequoyah County, to Ernest Eddie NIMMO Sr. and Dora Melissa (HOOD) NIMMO. He died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Sallisaw. He married Freda Dean COOK Nov. 20, 1953, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Freda NIMMO of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Cheryl and Barry and Lisa; three grandchildren; five brothers, George, Joe, Jack, Tom and Max; and two sisters, Ann and Kay. Mr. NIMMO was preceded in death by one son, Freddie Gene NIMMO; one sister, Virginia "Jiggs" ROUSEY; and one brothers, Jess NIMMO.

Funeral services for Ida Beatrice "Bea" TURNER, 83, of Fort Smith, Ark., are being held at 1 p.m Satruday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Fort Smith. Burial is in Long Cemetery, north of Muldrow, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.  Survivors include one daughter, Louise; three sons, Leonard "Bud", Phillip, and Don; one brother, James; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ella Kathryn (BLACKMON) AVERY died Monday, April 3, 2000, in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital. Funeral services ar ebeing held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Spiro, with the Rev. John Flanagan officiating. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery in Panama, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Spiro. Mrs. AVERY was born June 7, 1921, in Scullyville, to George Washington "G.W." and Catherine Ella Caroline (JONES)  BLACKMON. Survivors include three nieces, Sue and husband, Larry, Carolyn and husband, Vernon and Alyce Jayne and husband Garland; and brother-in-law, Mack and his wife, Beverly. Mrs. AVERY was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon and Burl BLACKMON; two sisters, Beullah McCLAIN and Eunice BLACKMON; and her husband, James AVERY.

Donald Ray BELL, 59, of Fort Smith, Ark. died Saturday, April 1, 2000, in Muskogee. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; one daughter, Pam BELL of Fort Smith; one stepdaughter, Vicky; one son, Don Paul; three stepsons, Eugene, Jim and Jerry; four sisters, Donna Kay, Vera, Brenda and Rita; one brother, Wallace; and two grandchilden. Mr. BELL was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nettie BELL.

Edgar Ray BUTLER, 61, of Sallisaw died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in the VA hospital in Muskogee. Private services were held.  Mr. BUTLER was born Nov. 11, 1938, in Sallisaw, to Charles and Golda (McCLURE) BUTLER. He married Betty LOFTON Aug. 29, 1960. Survivors include his wife, Betty BUTLER of the home; his children, Kim and Steve, and Debbie and D.J. and  Wilda, Cindy and Paul, and Cheryl; and one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Gayland; and nine grandchildren. Mr. BUTLER was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

Patricia Ann DRIGGERS, 50, of Arkoma died Monday, April 3, 2000, in a local hospital. Funeral services are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren, Ark. Burial is in Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Frank DRIGGERS of Arkoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Dwayne and Jennifer; her mother, Anna Mae; two sisters, Ferrell and Wanda; three brothers, Carl , Charles and Gary; one grandson; four nephews; and six nieces. Mrs. DRIGGERS was preceded in death by her father, Jesse PARNELL; and one granddaughter, Marissa DRIGGERS.

Graveside services for Curtis HARTSFIELD, 71, of Hackett, Ark., were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Evans Cemetery in the Excelsior community. Mr. HARTSFIELD died Thursday, March 30, 2000, in a local hospital. Survivors include three sons, Junior, Richard, and John; one sister, Norma; two brothers, James and Paul; one half-brother, Bill; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark.

Funeral services for Edmee M. HIXON, 86, of Marble City were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blunt Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leroy Reid officiating. Burial was in Marble City Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. HIXON was born May 2, 1913, in Marble City, to William and Minnie (DOUGLAS) RAPE. She died Satruday, April 1, 2000, in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Judy; one sister Lynn; one sister-in-law, Ruth; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. HIXON was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olen HIXON on Nov. 28, 1979; infant daughter, Billie Olene; two sisters, Cora HAMPTON and Ruby HENDERSON; five brothers, Willie ROSS, Waitie, Sylvan, Bill and John RAPE.

Jerome Dale SHERMER, 62, of Muldrow died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Muldrow. He was born Jan. 18, 1938, in Muldrow, to William Dale SHERMER and Elsie Mae (FARMER) SHERMER. He married Mary SHERMER April 7, 1966, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Mary SHERMER of the home; two daughters, Tonya DeAnne and Amy Nichole; one grandson; one sister Virginia Kay; and one brother, Gary Joseph. Cremation is under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow.

Funeral services for Ethel Mae SHORE, 89, of Gore are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Round Mountain Church, west of Vian, with the Rev. Bill Buttram officiating. Burial is in Round Mountain Cemetery, west of Vian, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. SHORE was born  June 12, 1910, in Vian to Haywood and Lela (HEFTON) LISTON. She died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in Sallisaw. She married Eugene Francis SHORE May 22, 1972, in Sallisaw. He preceded her in death July 5, 1982. Survivors include one sister Mary; two brothers, W.H. "Woody" and Fred; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Myrtie Mae JONES, 87, of Muldrow were held at 10 a.m. Friday at  Eastside Free Will Baptist Church in Muldrow, with the Revs. Tommy Jordan and Ken Wolf officiating.  Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw.  Mrs. JONES was born April 16, 1912, in Redland, to John and Myrtle (HOWELL) READ. She died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Myrtie and Betty; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Carol; one sister Marie; one brother Jessie; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. JONES was preceded in death by her husband, James S. JONES; one daughter, Nancy COLLIER: one brother, Merle PATRICK; and one sister, Margie MIDDLETON.

William Ray JORDAN, 89, of Smithville died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in Mena, Ark. Funeral services are being held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Octavia Baptist Church, with Bro. Ed Rogers officiating. Burial is in Smithville Cemetery, under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena. Mr. JORDAN was born Sept. 1, 1910, in DeQueen, Ark., to Benjaman F. JORDAN and Alta Clary JORDAN. He married Louise SANDERS Dec. 18, 1935, in Idabel.  Survivors include three nephews, Ben, Jerry and Bill; two nieces, Donna Sue and Alice Irene; and many other nieces and nephews. Mr. JORDAN was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise SANDERS JORDAN; and two brothers, Buddy JORDAN and Ben JORDAN.

Funeral services for Lera Belle (HICKS) PATTON, 93, of Muldrow are being held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Frist United Methodist Church in Muldrow, with Dr. Andy Hicks officiating. Burial is in Memory Gardens Cemetry in Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow. Mrs. PATTON was born Nov. 22, 1906, in the Ole Remy community, Oklahoma Indian Territory, to Dr. Adolphus Andrew HICKS MD and Mary Katherine (SPEIR) HICKS. She died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in Broken Arrow. She married Roy Gideon PATTON Jan. 31, 1924, in Fort Smith, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1947.  Survivors include one granddaughter, Patrica Jeanne; two grandsons, Bill Gregory and Jeffrey Alan; two stepgranddaughters, Phyllis and Deborah; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.  Mrs. PATTON wa also preceded in death by two sisters, Prudie PATTON and Eva RUSSELL; and one brother A.A. HICKS Jr.

Robert SHORT Jr., 59, of Arkoma died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in a local hospital. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include one daughter, Marsha; two sisters, Annette and Clara; five brothers, Virgil Eugene, Leon, Orville, Charles, and Allen; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of the home; four daughters, Phyllis, Pamela, Vicki and Judy; one son, Jackie Bob; one brother, T.C. Funeral services for Martha Minervia BIBB, 84, of Sallisaw will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, with the Rev. George Gilland officiating. Burial will be in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. BIBB was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Sallisaw, to Cread H. ORENDORFF and Lena Rachel DAVIS ORENDORFF. She died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in Poteau. She married her first husband, Charles Madison CROSSNO Jr. April 16, 1939, in Tahlequah. She married her second husband, Herman Wilfred BIBB Oct. 5, 1979, in Russellville, Ark. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Anita Jo and Barton; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; one sister, Mayo; and one brother, Cread H.

Graveside services for Jean CHUCULATE FRANKLIN, 66, of Sallisaw were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buffington Cemetery, with Ken Macken officiating. Mrs. FRANKLIN was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Sallisaw, to Moses Buffington CHUCULATE and Nora (HARTLEY) CHUCULATE. She died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in a Vian nursing home. Survivos include two daughters, Kathy  and Nancy Gail; first husband, Norman; one sister, Marilyn Pat; one brother, David; and five grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mrs. FRANKLIN was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James R. FRANKLIN.

Graveside services for Dennis Joe FRYE, 65, of Marble City were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Flute Springs Cemetery, with Leroy Reid officiating. Mr. FRYE was born March 21, 1935, in Claremore, to Charlie and Lila (JUMPER) FRYE. He died Satruday, April 8, 2000, in a Fort Smith, Ark. hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Debra; two sons, Donnie Joe and Jerry Wayne; one sister, Linda; two brothers, John E. and David; and five grandchildren. Ray James HODGES, 93, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Lee Creek Assembly of God Church in Short. Burial will be at Seabolt Cemetery in Short, under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes Inc. in Oklahoma City. Mr. HODGES was born April 6, 1907, in Van Buren, Ark., to Henry and Iva HODGES.  Survivors include his children, William, Jennetta, Juanita, Sylvia, Margaret, Edward and Betty; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and four sisters, Mayme, Ruth, Thelma and Ellen. Mr. HODGES was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reba; one daughter, Clara STIMSON; two brothers, Arvil and Earl; and one sister, Mary McGEE.

Mrs. LESSLEY was born Jan. 7, 1943, in the Brushy community, to Theodore RICHARDSON and Jewell (LONG) RICHARDSON ROBERTS. She died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. She married Jimmy Lee LESSLEY Feb. 2, 1968, in Stilwell. Survivors include her husband, Jim LESSLEY of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lisa and Shey and Tommy; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Lea and Leigh Ann and David and Madeline; two grandsons; two brothers, Gary and Kevin; two aunts and one uncle, Bonnie and Charles and Ruby; four uncles, Carl and Tom; and Delbert and Logan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Graveside services for Mary Marriah McMURRAY, 89, of the Short community were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Seabolt Cemetery, northeast of Muldrow, with the Rev. Ted Eppler officiating. Mrs. McMURRAY was born July 14, 1910 in Van Buren, Ark., to Lewis and Hattie (OLIVER) McMASTER. She died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in Sallisaw. She married Charles Edgar McMURRAY November 1932 in Van Buren. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1977. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Thelma; two sons, Edgar and Robert; seveal grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and seveal great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. McMURRAY was also preceded in death by one daughter Mary Lou RIDDLE on Feb. 2, 1999, in Fort Smith, Ark.; and one son Alfred McMURRAY on Oct. 5, 1985.  Arrangements were under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow.

Funeral services for Pauline Odom SCOTT, 78, of Broken Arrow were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Poteau, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Henrietta Odom Luttmer gave the eulogy. Burial was in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau. Mrs. SCOTT was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Poteau. She died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in Broken Arrow. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Paula Scott and Tony; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jospeh C. and Pat, and Bryan K. and Christina; one sister, Mattie; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leslie and Bonnie, James and Edna and Rosa Lee; two sisters-in-law, Mildred and Berna; one nephew and caregiver, L. Mrs. DANIELS was born April 13, 1928, in Vian, to Sam and Mary Bark (SMITH) RIDBIRD. She died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Fort Worth, Texas. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Steve; one brother, Fields; three sisters, Lahoma, Juanita and Peachie; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services for Grover DREW Sr., 79, of Tulsa, formerly of Vian, are being held at 11 a.m Satruday at the Vian Baptist Church, with Thomas Drew officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery in Vian, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. DREW was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Vian, to Jessie and Helen (SMITH) DREW. He died Sunday, April 9, 2000, in  a Tulsa nursing home. Survivors include his wife, Almaree (WILLIAMS) DREW of the home; four daughters, and two sons-in-law, Helen and Leroy and Virgial Jean, Rosetta H. , and Neomi and Emmitt; one son, Grover Jr.; three sisters, Augrel, Thedonia and Rosie Lee; two brothers, Jessie and Carlie; 30 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two grat-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Mr. DREW was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, George and Anthony; and one brother, Willie "Bill" DREW.

Luther R. GREEN, 78, of Little Rock, Ark., died Tuesday, April 11, 2000. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth in Little Rock, with the Rev. Tony Jones officiating. Burial was in Rest Hills Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Bessie DAVIS GREEN; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Elbert Ray and Donna and Harold Wayne and Nancy; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thomas; one brother, William; four sisters, Faye, Helen, Lucille and Trula; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. LOVERN was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Muldrow, to Bonner Fred and Verba Ann (BRYANT) LOVERN. He died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Kaufman. He married Theresa W. KOHLER May 19, 1957, at the St. Ann Bonafice Catholic Church in Fort Smith in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include Theresa LOVERN of Kaufman; his children, Cheryl and husband, Earl; Douglas C. and his wife, Tammy, and Boner F. Burial was in Sallisaw City Cemetery, under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home in Sallisaw. She was born March 31, 1926, in Nicut, to Ben and Callie (POINDEXTER) COCHRUM. She died wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark.  Survivors include one son, Douglas; one brother, L.D.; Mrs. MASSENGALE was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" MASSENGALE on Nov. 9, 1997; her parent; one sister, Ida BARNES; and one brother, Bill COCHRUM.

She married Lloyd Junior MELTON  Jr. Feb. 27, 1997, in Van Buren, Ark. Mrs. MORROW was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Claremore, to Robert Allen SORY and Anna (FRIEND) SORY. She died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include her children, Harley, Oscar Earl Jr., Phyllis, Ralph Edward, Dian and Tara; one sister, Flora; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. MURRAY was born March 24, 1911, in Oklahoma, to Robert Lee MURRAY and Ida Mae (PREWETT) MURRAY. She died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Van Buren. Survivors include two brothers, James Alfred and Elbert Lee; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Frank SEVENSTAR, 75, of the Belfonte communtiy were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Belfonte Baptist Church, northeast of Muldrow, with the Rev. Martin Cochran officiating. Burial was in Belfonte Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. SEVENSTAR was born May 24, 1924, in sequoyah County, to Sawnie and Atsie (TABOCCAWILL) SEVENSTAR. He died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in Muldrow. Survivors include one brother, Sammie Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
