In the spring of 1941, District 4, Bellview School dissolved. On August 30, 1941 part of the district transferred to District CI or Durham and the other part transferred to District C11 or Crawford.

Nina Bullard Krober attended this school and she remembers going to Sunday School at the age of two years old in this school. “I can remember hearing Mother sing, ‘When the Roll is Called Up Yonder’. “ Nina relates that the school house was a part of their lives. “I remember a teacher by the name of Lena Porterfield and the older kids very quickly nicknamed her “leaping Lena”. She was pretty and had curly hair and lasted the full school year. Wayne Fowler was the next teacher; he was strict but a very fair man. ” In all the one room schools, the County Superintendent would visit once a year and administer tests to the fourth through eighth grade students. This was a scary time for the students, but the teacher was also on trial. “The next teacher, Geraldine Bradshaw was only seventeen years old when she became our teacher. I don’t remember any problems with her. We all loved her. She taught us public speaking, and I entered a speech contest and won a blue ribbon. Next we had Dorothy Cole who changed her name to Mrs. Buford Thomas when she was my teacher. She taught us many useful everyday things like how to play ‘straight and draw pitch.’ Of all of my schooling, that is one lesson that has stayed with me.”

Earl Fox was a short man and a rough teacher. He was a sports fanatic as Nina “Jiggs” Krober recalls. “ Mr. Fox organized tournaments of marbles, jacks, Chinese Checkers, volleyball and softball. We couldn’t play basketball because there were not enough big kids.” Most schools had at least two big programs during the year: Box Supper and a Christmas or Thanksgiving program. “When I graduated from the eighth grade it was a big day. Mr. Fox had started us on some of the basics of some high school courses and we knew this would be a big step in our lives. It was! We bussed clear to Crawford and the rigors of a big school!. Bellview was disbanded just one year after I graduated.”
