The Pawnee Chief

   MARION LEONARD CREEPINGBEAR, passed away in Lawton, Oklahoma, and funeral services were held here Friday.
He was born on February 12, 1951, in Pawnee to Ed. B. Wichita and Lenita Creepingbear.
He was married to Vivian “Ann” Attocknie and she preceded him in death on March 2, 1986. He was also known as Prince Marquette Parris and his friends
referred to him as “Many horses.”
He was affiliated with the Native American Church. He was an enrolled member of the Pawnee tribe and the Kit-Ke-Hah-Ke band and lived in the Lawton,
Okla. Area. He served in the U.S. Army from April 10, 1969 to March 12, 1972.
Surviving are 2 sons: Nasharo Creepingbear and Marion Creepingbear, both of Lawton, plus a stepson and 2 stepdaughters: Patrick Shields, Valerie Shields
and LaCota Attocknie, also of Lawton, plus 8 grandchildren and a brother, George Haskell of Farmington, New Mexico and a number of other relatives.
Besides his wife, Ann, he was preceded in death by his mother, Lenita Creepingbear and Aunt Elaine Spottedbear.
Funeral service were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2003 at the Pawnee Multi-Purpose Complex with the Rev. Lynn Eaves officiating. Interment was
in the Pawnee South Indian Cemetery under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.
