The Pawnee Chief

BUDDY FRANKLIN COLVIN, 70, Skedee native, passed away at the Shawn Manor nursing home in Ponca City on Friday, August 15, 2003 and funeral services were held in Tonkawa, Monday, with the burial in Cleveland’s Woodland Cemetery. He was born in Skedee on Jun 8, 1933 to Ben F. and Anna (Garland) Colvin. He grew up in the Skedee area and graduated from high school in Cleveland, Okla.
He attended Oklahoma A&M for 2 years and joined the U.S. Navy at age 19 and served on the U.S.S. Boxer during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge in
1956, he returned to Cleveland and began working for Bethlehem Steel in Tulsa for 4 or 5 years.
He worked as lineman for S.W. Bell Telephone in Pawnee and then moved to Tonkawa 21 yers ago and retired after 30 yers of service.
Bud and Goldie Caldwell were married on August 17, 1982 in the Newkirk Baptist Church. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and playing cards with their
friends. He especially enjoyed going fishing. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Good Sam Club and Communication Workers of America.
Surviving is his wife, Goldie of the home and 3 daughters and 2 sons: Debbie Blocker, Stillwater; Deana Brian and husband, Roger of Ponca City; Connie
Osborn and husband, Ivan, Lamont; Dan Colvin, Ponca City and Jerry Colvin and wife Judy, Blackwell.
Also 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren plus his mother, Ann Colvin of Ponca City plus 2 sisters: Louise Lamb of Arkansas and Joyce Griffith of
Oklahoma City and a brother, Larry Colvin of Ralston.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant daughter.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Tonkawa with the Rev. Mike Marsters officiating.
Burial was in the Cleveland cemetery at 4 p.m. with military honors. Services were under direction of the Anderson Funeral Home of Tonkawa.
