D'Ette J. McGarry, passed away May 5, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska on May 21, 1931. D'Ette attended schools in Uvalde, Texas, Eugene, Oregon, and Reno, Nevada. She went to Norfolk Senior High School in Norfolk, Nebraska, where she was a cheerleader and active in many groups. In 1948, she was a Jobs Daughters' Queen. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1949 and 1950 and, in 1950 was voted Miss Stephens College. In 1951, she was Miss Lions Club of Nebraska.

D'Ette and her husband, Bill, started going together in high school and have been married since 1953. She was a loving wife and mother. She was without a doubt the nicest person you would ever meet.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Julie Kanaly and her two children, Steven and Kara; her son, Tom McGarry and his two children, Will and Chris; and son, Scott and his wife, Anne McGarry and their two children, Taylor and Mitchell; brother, Richard Remender and his wife, Lani of Sedona, Arizona. D'Etta was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all.

There will be a Wake Service on Sunday, May 7, 2000, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper Funeral Directors Chapel in Edmond, Oklahoma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 8, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Edmond.
