SULPHUR TIMES DEMOCRAT MAY 24, 1973 RITES CONDUCTED HERE WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. RUSSELL Mrs. Effie Juanita Russell, 77, 1024 West 18th died May 21 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Russell was the wife of Houston Russell, prominent County Rancher. The Russells moved to Murray County 24 years ago from Harmon County. Born Sept. 4, 1895, in Waxahatchie, Texas. Mrs. Russell had lived in Oklahoma since a small child. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Faris Weaver, Pastor, officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery with the Dunn Funeral Home in charge. During her residence in Sulphur, Mrs. Russell was an active member of the First Methodist Church, The Eastern Star and the Sulphur Flower Club. Surviving are her husband, Houston Russell, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. J.B. Best, Sulphur; a brother, Vandry Finley, Sulphur; a sister Mrs. C.C. BroOKman, Laverne, California; Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Roy Lee Russell. Pallbearers at the service were A.G. Rolen, Forrest McMurtry, Don Cowley, R.A. Jennings, Jack Hunt and John Sparks.

SULPHUR TIMES DEMOCRAT DECEMBER 27, 1979 SERVICES SET WEDNESDAY FOR HOUSTON RUSSELL, 87, RANCHER Houston Russell, 87, Sulphur area Rancher since 1948, died here Sunday, December 23, following a long period of failing health. Russell came to Sulphur from Hollis where he had engaged in ranching since before statehood. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 26, at 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bonner Teeter, Ardmore, officiating. Funeral services are under the direction of the McAffrey Funeral Home. Russell was born June 18, 1892, at Fox, Indian Territory, and lived there until 1902 when he moved to Vincent in Western Oklahoma with his family and engaged in farming and ranching there for many years. He was married to Effie Finley on December 20, 1914. After moving to Sulphur, Mr. Russell was active in the Sulphur Roundup Club for a number of years and carried the American Flag in local and area Parades for the Club. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 144 and the First United Methodist church. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. J.B. Best, Sulphur; Two grandsons, Eddie Best, Norman, and Roddie Russell, Port Huenene, Calif.; Three great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Pallbearers at the service will be S.L. West, A.G. Rolland, Forrest McMurtry, Paul Thompson, Don Cowley and Dick Jennings.

SULPHUR TIMES DEMOCRAT SEPTEMBER 5, 1968 RUSSELL SERVICE CONDUCTED HERE Roy L. Russell 51, son of Mr. and Mrs. Houston Russell, Sulphur, died at his home in Pomona, Calif., August 29 from a heart attack. Born May 19, 1917 at Vinson, OKla., Russell had lived in California for a number of years and was an employee of the Laud Aircraft Company there. Russell is survived by his wife Mrs. Juanita Russell, of the home in Pomona, Calif.; one son, Rodell Russell, Pomona, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Houston Russell, Sulphur; and a sister, Mrs. J.B. Best, Sulphur. Funeral services were scheduled from the First Methodist Church here in Sulphur Wednesday morning of this week at 10:30 o'clock with the Rev. Justus Edmonson, Pastor, officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery here with Banner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers at the services were Dr. G.T. Easley, Fred Hust, Leo Horseman, Dick Jennings, Emory Cowley and Millard Lowrance.
