BUTNER CEMETERY

Hughes County, Oklahoma

Location: From the intersection of Hwy 56 and Hwy 9, go north on 56 for 2 miles to the Butner corner. Turn east on blacktop road and go 1 mile, turn north on dirt road 369 (Location of the old Butner School) and go 2 tenths of a mile. You will turn in to the east into a pasture, crossing a cattle guard. Continue down the hill and follow the path until you come to an iron gate, turn left there (do not go through the gate) and you'll be able to see the cemetery.

The cemetery has been mowed fairly recently. Keep in mind that all of the rows in this cemetery are not straight, so you may have to hunt a little if you are using this to locate a particular grave.

There are many families buried in the cemetery that we knew so please feel free to email me.

There is also a Butner Cemetery in Seminole County, just a little over a mile away. It was predominately a black cemetery and is no linger in use. Click here to see the Seminole County Butner Cemetery.

This cemetery was canvassed on October 2, 2002 by Vickie Neill Taylor.

Starting from the southwest corner of the cemetery with Row 1.
