Letter from A. J. Poe (3-22-1962) to "Mrs. Bert Vaut" (wife of Bert
Vaut Sr.):  "...I am a grandson of Bud Vaut's sister Nancy Elizabeth".

Andrew appears in the 1860 Dallas Co., TX census in the household of Louisa
Vaught, who appears in the 1850 census with her husband, Andrew.

"The Pauls Valley Enterprise", Nov. 25, 1926, p. 1, col. 3: "Alfred
VAUGHT age  73 years, passed away at the home of his son, B. A. Vaught on South
Willow,  Friday November 19 after an illness of nearly two years. Mr. Vaught was
a native  of Texas coming to Oklahoma from Red River county about twenty years
ago. Mrs. Vaught died about two years ago. There are four sons and two daughters
residing in Oklahoma and all present at the funeral. Service (sic) were conducted by
Rev. Walter Douglas of the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 3
o'clock at the residence (sic). Interment took place in Mount Olivet cemetery."

"The Pauls Valley Democrat", Nov. 25, 1926: "FUNERAL SERVICES FOR A.
VAUT" - "Funeral services were conducted Saturday by Rev. Walter Doublass of
the Methodist church for A. Vaut, who died Friday after a long illness.
Mr. Vaut  had suffered for two years from high blood pressure with occasional
attacks of paralysis and had never been able to be out of bed since that time.
Mr. Vaut left a large family, most of whom still reside in Pauls Valley. C. E.
Vaut, janitor at the court house, Mart Vaut, B. A. Vaut, Alph Vaut, Mrs.
Rollie Hart of Paoli and Mrs. Ross Wilson who resides near Pauls Valley. The court
house was closed for the funeral and practically all the court house
employees attended the funeral, a large crowd composed of the many friends who
knew and respected the deceased and his family were present."

Letter from A. J. Poe to Mrs. Bert Vaut (3-22-1962) - refers to Andrew

col. 4: "MRS CARRIE VAUT - Mrs. Carrie Vaut, wife of A. Vaut, died in this city May 20th after a
lingering illness at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 4 days. Deceased was a
native of Kentucky, but came with her parents when but 2 years old to Tarrant
County Texas where she lived until moving to the Indian Territory with her husband
in 1902. She is survived by her husband, A. Vaut, four sons and two daughters as
follows: C. E.; B. A.; W. M.; and Alf all of Pauls Valley. Mrs. Rollie Hart of
near Paoli and Mrs. R. M. Wilson living a few miles north of Pauls Valley.
Funeral services were held at the residence of a son, Bert A Vaut on South
Walnut Street Wednesday, services were conducted by Rev. B. M. Nelson. Internment
took place in Olivet Cemetery."

"The Pauls Valley Democrat", Thursday, May 22, 1924, p. 1: "MRS.
CARRIE VAUT - Mrs. Carrie Vaut, age 66, died at the home of her son here, Bert A.
Vaut, Tuesday after a long illness. Funeral services were held from the
residence Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Dr. B. M. Nelson,
Interment was made immediately following at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Vaut
was an old resident of Pauls Valley and had countless friends here who admired
her many qualities of sterling character. She was a faithful member of the
Methodist church here. She is survived by a husband, four sons, two daughters,
and several grand children. The sons are Bert Vaut, Alf Vaut, Mart Vaut
and Clarence Vaut. The daughters are Mrs. Ross Wilson, and Mrs. Rawleigh
Hart. The Democrat joins with the many friends of the bereaved in extending
condolence in the dark hour."

1917. Bert Jr. was supposedly born in Whitebead in 1916, so there must be an
earlier lease. Bert Jr. believes the first lease was from ____ PARIS.
