Jan 29, 1985 A life long Lindsay resident, Lena A. (Toni) Ward Looper, 80, passed away in an Oklahoma City Hospital, Jan 27, 1985 after a short illness. Toni was born February 9, 1904 in Lindsay, Indian Territory to Lindsay pioneers C.D. (Dick) Ward who came to this area in 1893. She and Guy Looper were married May 20, 1939 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Ada and Pauls Valley prior to moving Lindsay where Mr. Looper was a well known realtor and Mrs. Looper taught school in the Lindsay Public School System for 31 years until her retirement in may 1969. Mrs. Loopers affiliations included Delta Kappa Gamma; Past Matron of the Eastern Star; Lindsay Literary Club; Retired teachers Association; Women's Sunday School class of the First Christian Church; and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay. Her mild manner and charm spread over a life which was a blessing and benefaction to those within it’s sphere of influence. An irreparable loss to the community, her friends and family has been left by her departure. She will be missed by many. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 29 in the First Baptist Church with Reverand Alvin McConnell Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be: Everett Jones, Phil Phillips, Dale Looper, Guy Robberson, Jess Garrett and Ray Lackey. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of B.G.Boydston Funeral Home, Lindsay. Survivors include: One sister Calle Ward Denson, Lindsay; one niece Marcene Beazley, Dalles TX; seven nephews, Dale Looper, Long Beach CA, Douglas Denson, Sublimity OR, Nugent Cox, Newsome Cox, Ben Cox and John Cox, all of Dallas TX, and Richard Cox, Fort Worth TX; one daughter, Rose Teis, Tulsa OK and one cousin, Velma Lou Barnhill, Lindsay. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
