Services Held For Drowning Victim in Vinita
 

    VINITA, July 31—Services for Billy James Brown, 23-year-old drowning victim, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Luginbuel Brothers funeral chapel with burial in McLaughlin cemetery.
    Brown, who was just recently discharged from the navy, was swimming in a pond southeast of Vinita late Friday when the tragedy occurred. He and two companions were at the pond, but he was alone in the water when he shouted for help. One companion tried to swim to his rescue, but developed cramps and had to return. Brown’s body was recovered in 12 feet of water, 30 feet from the bank.
    The naval veteran is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer E. Brown, route 3, Vinita; one brother, Harold Brown, of the home; one sister, Mrs. Raymond Hoodenpyle, Claremore; and grandparents W.P. Hopkins and Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Brown, all of route 3, Vinita.
