Resident Died Yesterday.
Patrick Shanahan, aged 73 years, the father of Mayor Edward
Shanahan, died at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon on his family farm west of the
city after an illness of more than sixteen, months, following a stroke of
paralysals. His family were with him when the end came. He is survived by a
widow and nine children. The funeral services will be hold tomorrow morning from
the Church of the Sacred Heart in this city, of which the deceased had for many
years bean a devout member.
Mr. Shanahan came to Vinita about thirty years ago, previous to which he had
lived in serval of the western states after coming to America from his
birthplace in Ireland. In all those years he has been considered a model citizen
by all who knew him, “quick and impulsive in all his acts, never heisting to
speak his mind, but warm-hearted and generous to a layh. He was a man if marked
individuality and of countless.
