ROYCE DEVAUGHAN, 73, 
   Of Douglass, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 
2003, at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas.Born on 
March 3, 1930, in Faxon, Oklahoma, he was one of 9 children born 
to Zed and Ilma (McCarty) DeVaughan. He was reared and educated 
in Binger, Oklahoma. His first employment was with REA/Electric 
Co-op in the Binger area.
   In 1946, he joined the United States Air Force where he served 
as a chemical warfare officer until 1948. On November 22, 1947, 
he was united in marriage to Jessie Dolores Fletcher in Anadarko, 
Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Binger. In 1956, 
the couple moved to Wichita, Kansas and he began working at 
Boeing Aircraft on the flight line and on Aircraft fuel cells.  
He received several awards for suggestions he made and that were 
approved and implemented to the B47 Aircraft fuel systems. In 
1971, the couple moved to Atlanta, Kansas, where he owned and 
operated a welding and backhoe business.
   Royce retired in 1995.  Mrs. DeVaughan preceded him in death 
on July 7, 1995. He had resided in Douglass, Kansas since 1997 
with his companion, Connie Stevenson. He attended the Atlanta 
Christian Church, and he was formerly affiliated with the Wichita 
Shriners. He was also a member of the Douglass Masonic, Lodge # 
151 for 42 years. His hobbies included, fishing, camping and 
rodeos.

   Zed DeVaughan, Jr., of Stillwater, OK; 
   Bobby DeVaughan and wife Elsa of Cape Cod Massachusetts; and
   Darwin DeVaughan And wife Linda of Binger, OK;
His sisters: 
   Darlene Wilson of Sickles, OK: and 
   Naomi Fissell of Wooster, OH;
His sisters-in-laws: 
   LaVonna DeVaughan of Binger, OK; and 
   Mona Johnson of Amett, OK
His 8 grandchildren: 
   Jessica Hush, Brandy and Christa DeVaughan; 
   Shane & Robbie Green; and 
   Fletcher, Jed and Kayle DeVaughan.
His great-grandchildren: 
   Amber, Brooke, Brody, Jaylyn and Garrett, and 
   a host of nieces and nephews.
