MILTON, 22, was inducted into the army Jan. 25, 1943 and received his basic training at Tampa, Fl. He has been stationed in the South Pacific and was known at one time to be in New Guinea. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Valla, and the brother of Mrs. Elisha Kubala and Mrs. W.B. Pendley, all of Anadarko. He attended school at Stecker. ---------------------------------------------- VALLIER, ARTHUR T., was the first to be sent to Sheppard Field, Texas with the air corps and then to Scott Field, Ill, in the radio division training for duty as a member of a fighting bomber crew. He is now in North Carolina. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Vallier of Anadarko. He graduated from Anadarko High School and attended the Oklahoma Military Academy for two years. Following this he was empoyed by the Breka Oil Company in Corpus Christi, Texas until his enlistment. He is married to the former Pauline Reilly and she is now making her home n Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- VANTINE, CPL. BILL, 22, enlisted in the armed service in November of 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Gordon, Ga. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Vantine of Anadarko. He is married to the former Allene Burnett, who now makes her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Burnett of Gracemont. ---------------------------------------------- VARVA, jr., PFC. JOE F., 21, and F2C GORDON R. VARVA, 18, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Varva of Anadarko. Joe is the the army air corps, entering the service in May of 1943 and received his basic training in San Antonio. He is now stationed in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended schools in Anadarko and at the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, Ok. Gordon entered the navy in July of 1944 and received his boot training at San Diego, Calif. He is now stationed in the South Pacific. He attended Anadarko schools and was employed at the Safeway store in Anadarko previous to his entering the service. ---------------------------------------------- VESTAL, 2nd LT. ALEX H. of Cyril and 2nd LT. GLEN R. SAWYER of Fort Cobb, were awarded their silver bombardier wings by the commanding officers of the schools, Col. Sam Ellis of Big Springs to Lt. Vestal; and Col. George M. Palmer of San Angelo to Lt. Sawyer. Vestal is an alumnus of Cyril High School and the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He formerly worked in the laboratory at the Anderson-Prichard Refining Corporation in Cyril. Sawyer attended Camerson College in Lawton in 1938. ---------------------------------------------- VICE, S-SGT. LEWIS O., 25, volunteered for service in the air corps before the war was declared in 1941. He took his basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas where he received his wings. He has been stationed in the Mediterranean theatre of war for over a year. He has two brothers in the service, SGT. HOLLIS VICE and PVT. JOHN LESLIE VICE. They are the sons of O.H. Vice of Fort Cobb and nephews of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Vice of Anadarko. Lewis is married to the former Faye Miller of Broxton, who makes her home in Maple Hill, Kans., where she teaches school. ---------------------------------------------- VOYLES, J.R. is now with a U.S. Patrol Force stationed on Trinidad Island in South America. He is the brother of Mrs. Ray Larison of Fort Cobb. ----------------------------------------------
