BURLEY M. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Sage of Verden, Ok. He was born and grew up in Caddo County and attended school at Fairview, which is located north of Verden. Before entering the army Jan. 20, 1942, he was engaged in farming. He has been stationed with a rifle company at Fort Knox, Ky. ---------------------------------------------- SAILES, PVT. OTIS, U.S. Army, 20, enlisted Aug. 14, 1942 and is now stationed in Canada. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Sailes of Fort Cobb. He attended school at Albert and was engaged in farming before entering the service. ---------------------------------------------- SALYER, PVT. CLINTON E., 32, is the son of Mrs. Debbie Salyer of Gracemont. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1940, moving from Fort Sill in Lawton to Camp Berkeley and receiving an honorable discharge following Louisiana maneuvers. He returned to the service at Fort Knox, Ky. on May 4, 1942. He is now stationed with the 45th Armored Signal Co., 8th Armored Division. He attended school at Oney. ---------------------------------------------- SAUNDERS, JAMES, 17, U.S. Navy, is the son of Trooper and Mrs. Jake Saunders of Anadarko. He entered the service in March of 1943 and is now serving in the Pacific area. He attended school in Anadarko and Durant, Ok. ---------------------------------------------- SAWYER, S2C GENE H., United States Navy, enlisted in September of 1942 and was stationed at San Diego, Calif., until March of 1942 and was transferred to Norfolk, Va. He is 21 years old and attended Fort Cobb school and received a degree in animal husbandry at Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.O. Sawyer and is now at sea. ---------------------------------------------- SAWYER, CADET GLEN is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Sawyer of Fort Cobb. He has been in the armed forces for the past two years and is now in officers training in Coleman, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- SCHULTZ jr., PVT. EDDIE, 20, is the son of Mrs. Bulah Schultz of Anadarko. He entered the service Jan.25, 1943 and has been stationed at Camp Fannin, Texas. He attended school at Cement. ---------------------------------------------- SCOTT, GEORGE W., 19, is the son of Mrs. Grace Scott of Washita and the late Lester Scott. He attended the Washita School and gaduated in 1940. He entered the U.S. Navy in April of 1941 and has been stationed in Seattle, Wash., as a second class seaman with the patrol squadron. ---------------------------------------------- SCOTT, WARRANT OFFICER LEWIS is assigned to an ordinance section of the 45th Division. He was a member of the National Guard when it was mobilized in 1940. He now rates a four year service stripe. He was born in Anadarko to Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Scott and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1940. ---------------------------------------------- SEE, SGT. ROBERT A., 28, of Cyril volunteered for service in October of 1939 and was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He has been stationed at Fort Shafter on the Hawaiian Islands. He is the son of Mrs. R.A. See of Chickasha and brother of Mrs. George E. Young of Anadarko. He attended school in Fort Cobb and Cyril. ---------------------------------------------- SELLERS, JIMMY, 20, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Sellers, jr. of Binger. He entered the U.S. Naval training station at Corpus Christi, Texas with an ensign rating. He just recently completed his preliminary three month training period at Dallas, Texas. He is a graduate of Binger High School, Cameron Junior College in Lawton and was a student at the University of Olahoma in Norman. ---------------------------------------------- SETTLE, PVT. HASKELL R., 22, is stationed with a cavalry unit at Fort Riley, Kans. He has been in the service since April 25, 1945 anf has received an expert rifleman medal. His wife and two children make their home in Gracemont with her parents. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Settle live in Anadarko. He attended school at Pleasant Hill and was engaged in farming near Gracemont. ---------------------------------------------- SEXTON, PFC. JOHN E., 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Sexton of Apache. He was inducted into the army June 26, 1942. He took his basic training at Camp Barkeley, Texas, and was later transferred to Fort Bragg, N.C. He is now with a medical detachment in the North African sector. ------------- Apache, Dec. 30 - JOHN EDWIN SEXTON, with the American Medical Corps in Italy, has been missing in action since Dec. 2, according to a message received Wednesday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Sexton. He was a mechanic with Henry Reiss at Apache before enlisting. Sexton is 22 years old and was inducted into the army June 26, 1942. He took his basic training at Camp Barkeley, Texas and was later transferred to Fort Bragg, N.C. The Sextons have two daughters and four other sons. ---------------------------------------------- SEYMOUR, EDWARD DEAN, United States Navy, 20, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Seymour of Apache and the brother of Mrs. Leon Jacobs of Anadarko. He enlisted in the navy in January of 1943. He was employed in a defense plant before entering the navy and received his basic training at San Francisco, Calif., later going to a diesel engineering school at Los Angeles, Calif., for two months. He is statoned in the South Pacific. ---------------------------------------------- SHAFFER, SGT. VINCENT 'Buck' is with the 45th Division and has been in the service since the mobilization of the National Guard in 1940. He is the son of Mrs. Tulie Shaffer. He was born in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School. ---------------------------------------------- SHAW, HAROLD, of Eakly, was the first of the three sons of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Shaw to enter the armed services and is now stationed with the American troops in Ireland. He was stationed previously at Fort Knox, Ky. His brother, CARL SHAW, was reported missing in action on Bataan. RAYMOND SHAW, his older brother, is now with the U.S. Marines at San Diego, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- SHAW, SGT. RAYMOND H., U. S. Marines, was an instructor in medium tank maintenance at San Diego, Calif., and has been on active duty on Roi Island in the Marshalls in the Pacific. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Shaw of Hydro and a brother of Mrs. C.C. Reece of Anadarko. A brother, CPL. HAROLD H. SHAW, is with an armored tank division in Italy, and another brother, PFC. CARL E. SHAW, is a prisoner of the Japanese in the Phillipines since the fall of Bataan and Corregidor. ---------------------------------------------- SHELTON, CHARLIE J., U.S. Navy, 20, is the son of Mrs. Nora Harris of Colony, Ok. and the grandson of Mrs. Etta Wengenroth of Anadarko, with whom he made his home before entering the service. He enlisted in the Seabees in July of 1943 and took his training in Williamsburg, Va. at Camp Peary. From there he was sent to Port Hueneme, Calif. From that port of embarkation he was sent to the South Pacific theatre of war in February of 1944. He is now stationed in New Guinea. He is married to the former Rosetta Austin of Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- SHEMAYME, SGT. DAN, U.S. Army, is now serving with a paratoop unit. He won his wings and boots after completing four weeks training in a parachute school at Fort Benning, Ga. He is the son of Jimmy P. Shemayme of Lookeba. ---------------------------------------------- SHERRILL, 2nd LT. BENJAMIN LEROY, 21, of Anadarko, received a commission as a second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve on September 26 after an intensive 10 week officer's training course at Quantico, Va. He will now attend an additional 10 week course in the duties of a platoon commander before being assigned to duty with combat troops. The leather neck officer is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma at Norman and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester L. Sherrill of Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- SHIPMAN, S-SGT. ROBERT, 20, is being held a prisoner in a German military camp followng his capture in July of 1943, as he advanced with the 45th Division in the victorious Sicilian campaign. Son of Mrs. Della Shipman and Knox Shipman, Anadarko city police chief, he attended school in Anadarko and entered the 45th Division with the mobilization of the National Guards. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Ok.; Camp Barkeley, Texas; fort Devens, Mass; and Pine Camp, N.Y., before going overseas. ---------------------------------------------- SHIRLEY, SGT. ELLIS and SGT. CLAUDE SHIRLEY, 24, are the sons of Harry Shirley of Anadarko. Both have been with the National Guards since their mobilization in the fall of 1940. Both received their education in the Anadarko schools. Ellis is married and his wife and two daughters live on their farm west of Anadarko. He has beem a member of the National Guards for17 years. ---------------------------------------------- SHOOK, PVT. HARLEY B. has been in the army since April 16, 1945 and is receiving his basic training at Camp Livingson, La. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Shook of Hydro. He attended Eakly High School and was engaged in farming before entering the service. ---------------------------------------------- SHOOP, CAPT. GLENN P., 23, entered the Army Air Corps Sep. 14, 1942 after having three and one half years of training in the ROTC at the University of Oklahoma. He was promoted from leiutenant to captain Jan. 24, 1944 and has been stationed at Love Field in Dallas, Texas where he is a flying officer with one of the ferrying squadrons at the ferry division's Texas air bases. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Shoop of Hydro, former longtime residents of Gracemont. He graduated from Gracemont High School in 1938 and attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman. ---------------------------------------------- SHOOP, CPL. ROBERT LEE, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Shoop of Gracemont. He was raised in the Gracemont community and attended school at Spring Creek. He married Helen M. Donald on Oct. 12, 1941 and she is now living in Dallas, Texas. He is now stationed at Camp Shelby, Miss., having entered the service in August of 1936. ---------------------------------------------- SHOPTAW, PFC. LEONARD EDISON of Gracemont is now stationed with the AEF in northern Ireland. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Shoptaw of Gracemont and has four brothers and five sisters, most of whom live in Caddo County. He is 22 years of age. ---------------------------------------------- SILL HA1C ALVA RALPH, U.S. Navy, entered the service in 1944. He received his boot training in San Diego, Calif. and entered the navy hospital corps school in Oakland, Calif. He is now sationed with the navy medical department at Camp Parks, Calif. He is the son of Mrs. Bertha Sill and attended Hinton High School. ---------------------------------------------- SIMS, 2nd LT. WILLIAM A., (27 apr 1918 / 27 may 1942) of Cement, is the son of Mrs. Tom Sims. He has been assigned to MacDill Field at Tampa, Fl. He graduated in the first 'war time class' at Brooks Field, Texas. A graduate of Cement High School, he attended Texas University and the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He was a member of the ATO social fraternity at OU. He also attended Tulsa Spartan School of Aeronautics. ------------ Lakeland , Florida, May 28 - Six men were killed, two others injured when a B-24 bomber, stationed at Drane Field here, crashed into a posphate pit before midnight last night. An army board of inquiry has been formed in an attempt to learn the cause of the crash. The accident occurred on a routine training flight. Among the dead was 2nd Lt. WILLIAM A. SIMS, the pilot, from Cement, Ok. (He was buried in the Cement I.O.O.F. cemetery. ) ---------------------------------------------- SINK, PVT. EVERETTE is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Sink of Apache. He volunteered into the army in September of 1940 and is now somewhere in the Pacific War Zone. He attended schools at Oak Dale and Broxton. ---------------------------------------------- SISK, PVT. CLIFFORD L. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Sisk of Carnegie. He entered the service June 17 and his address is now Troop A, 2nd Squadron, CRKC, Fort Riley, Kans. ---------------------------------------------- SISSOM, PVT. RAYMOND, 18, and SGT. TOMMIE SISSOM, 21, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. B.W. Wells of Gracemont. Both boys attended school at Gracemont. Pvt. Sissom entered the service Sep. 29, 1941 and has been with the U.S. Marines on Guadalcanal. Sgt. Sissom entered the service on Oct. 20, 1942 and is an instructor in a glider school at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- SKELTON, PVT. GUY, 31, is the son of Mrs. Etta Skelton of Binger. He was inducted into the U.S. Army May 1 and was first sent to Fort Sill in Lawton. From there he was transferred to Co. C. 71st Training Bn. at Camp Robinson in Little Rock, Ark. Before entering the army he was employed in California. He has one brother, Raymond Skelton of California, and two sisters, Mrs. Jewel Mason and Mrs. Homer Meeks, both of Binger. ---------------------------------------------- SKIPWORTH, PVT. PERCY L., 19, entered the U.S. Marines in 1945 and received his boot training at Parris Island, S.C. He is now stationed at Camp LeJeune, N.C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Skipworth of Anadarko and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Edwards of Washita, Ok. He attended schools in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- SLATEN, S-SGT. WILLIAM L. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Slaten and graduated from Lincoln High School in Anadarko. He received his trades certificate from Langston University in Langston. He was inducted into the army in January of 1941 from California and has been stationed at Camp Young, Indio, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- SLEMP, S1C HENRY CLINTON, U.S. Navy, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Slemp of Gracemont. He enlisted in the seabees in August of 1942 and reported for active duty Oct. 6, 1942 Camp Peary in Williamsburg, Va., for his basic training. He was sent from Camp Peary to Davisville, R.I., for further training and in February of 1944 he sailed from Port Hueneme, Calif., for service in the South Pacific. His wife is making her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Carter of Gracemont. He attended school at Spring Creek and was engaged in farming in the Spring Creek community before entering the service. ---------------------------------------------- SLEMP, CPL. LEROY 'Wimpy', 22, was inducted into the air corps Jan. 18, 1943 and was sent overseas in September of 1944. He served in Saipan in the Southwest Pacific as a mechanic. Cpl. Slemp and other ground specialist of a B-29 group, who took up the untamiliar task of air base construction in addition to the regular duties from which they received a commendation from Brig. Gen. H.S. Hansell, jr., commanding general of the 21st bomber command. Cpl. Slemp, whose regular job is being a mechanic, and other men moved in on the area of battle wreckage andin less than 20 weeks were bombing Tokyo from the completed base on Saipan. ---------------------------------------------- SLOVER, CPL. LLOYD was accidentally killed in the line of duty on April 6, 1943. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Slover. He was 22 years of age and married. He was statoned at Camp Davis, N.C. He attended school in Konowa, Ok. His wife is making her home with his parents. ---------------------------------------------- SMALL, PFC. SAM F. of Apache is now stationed in Hawaii. He is the brother of Mrs. C.R. Maier of Apache. He attended high school at Broxton and enlisted into the armed services in October of 1939. ---------------------------------------------- SMALLWOOD, PFC. HARLOUS E. and FURMAN R. SMALLWOOD, are the sons of J.B. Smallwood of Fort Cobb. Both boys entered the service in California Furman R. entered the navy in January of 1942 and has been stationed in Oakland, Calif. Harlous E. entered the army in May of 1942 and has been stationed at Midland, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- SMITH, S1C R. GLEN, U. S. Navy, 22, entered the navy July 13, 1943, receiving his boot training at San Diego, Calif. He left for overseas duty on Dec. 13, 1944. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Smith of Ardmore, Ok. and the brother of Mrs. Luther Hileman of Lookeba. He was employed at the J.T. Stewart Lumber Company in Clinton, Ok. ---------------------------------------------- SMITH, PVT. JAMES L., 20, entered the service in 1944 and received his training at Camp Robinson, Ark., and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He was with the 3rd army in Germany. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Smith, former residents of Eakly, and the brother of Mrs. Luther Hileman of Lookeba. ---------------------------------------------- SMITH, SGT. JESSIE E. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Smith of the Sickles community. He is in the medical corp and has been stationed at Lake Field, Ariz. He entered the service on July 10, 1940 and was first sent to Camp Grant, Ill. ---------------------------------------------- SMITH, S-SGT MURPHY R., 24, SGT. EDWARD SMITH, 22, and EUGENE SMITH, 21, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Smith of Binger. Murphy has been in the service a year and is in the air crops at Waco, Texas. He is married and his wife is now making her home in Waco. Edward has been in the service for more than three years and is in the medical detachment at Camp Barkeley. He is married and his wife makes her home in Abilene, Texas. Eugene entered the service in February and is in the medical detachment and stationed at Camp Wallace at Galveston, Texas. All the boys attended school in Binger. ---------------------------------------------- SMITH, PARKER WILBURN, 21, U.S. Navy, volunteered for service April 1, 1942 in the Navy Air Corps. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Smith of Anadarko. He attended school in Caddo County and at Tulsa, Ok. ---------------------------------------------- SMITH, CPL. ROBERT, 20, is the son of Walter Smith of Anadarko and Mrs. Maybelle Smith of Duncan, Ok. He was inducted into the army May 2, 1943 and was sent to Camp Callan, San Diego, Calif., for his basic training. He was transferred to Fort Bliss, Texas to attend anti-aircraft school. He attended school at Duncan and was employed at Rounds and Porter Lumber Company. ---------------------------------------------- SNEAD, J. CECIL, 17, and JACK B. SNEAD, 20, U.S. Navy, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Snead and both entered the service on Oct. 3, 1942. They attended school at Camp Creek. ---------------------------------------------- SNELSON, LEROY, 23, is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Miller Snelson of Anadarko. He spent five days during November of 1942 at his home here after seeing service in the Solomon Islands. ---------------------------------------------- SNIDER, PVT. JOE S., entered the service Sep. 6, 1944 and received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Little Rock, Ark. and is now in the Pacific. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Snider of Anadarko. Snider attended Anadarko High School and graduated from Kemper Military Academy in Booneville, Mo. ---------------------------------------------- SPEAR, S2C DONALD KEITH and SGT. WAYNE S. SPEAR, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Spear of Lookeba. Donald is a Seaman, second class, and is stationed on a destroyer. He is a graduate of Sickles school and is 21. He entered the service Oct 4, 1942 and received his boot trainng at Great Lakes, Ill. Sgt. Wayne is married and his wife now makes her home with his parents. He has been stationed at the army air base in Lake Charles, La. ---------------------------------------------- SPRAY, PVT. CLAYTON I. of Lookeba is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Spray. He has been in the service since March 5, 1942 at Fort Riley, Kans. ---------------------------------------------- STEARNS, PVT. VERNON, 19, entered the service in February of 1943. He is the son of Dennie Stearns of Fort Cobb and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Stearns of Fort Cobb. He attended school at Broxton and Foster. He has been stationed at Camp McCalin, Miss. ---------------------------------------------- STEPHENS, FIRE CONTROMAN 2C, CHARLES A., U.S. Navy, 27, reenlisted in the navy in April of 1943, after completing four years of service. He is the son of Mrs. Anna Stephens of Long Beach, Calif., former resident of Anadarko. He graduated from Anadarko High School in 1937 and at the time of entering the service was employed at an aircraft plant in Long Beach, Calif. His wife, the former Eleanor McAnally, makes her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. McAnally, near Binger. ---------------------------------------------- STEPHENSON, PVT. RAYMOND, 21, is now stationed at Midland Army Flying School, 97th Material Squadron in Midland, Texas. He is the son of Roland Stephenson of Gracemont. He entered schooling at Sheppard Field, Texas in April of 1940 and was a junor in Gracemont High School at the time of his enlistment. He is a Wichita Indian. ---------------------------------------------- STEVENS, PVT. SHELBY, U.S. Army, 20, was inducted into the army Jan. 18, 1943 and has been stationed at Camp Campbell, Ky. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Stewart of Sickles. He attended school at Sickles and Binger. His wife, the former Nellie McCullough, and daughter, make their home with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart. ---------------------------------------------- STEVERSON, LT. ALVIN and LT. JOSEPH W. FLEMING were included in the group of aerial navigator who were awarded Silver Wings last week at Hondo Army Air Field, Hondo, Texas. Fleming is from Binger, Ok. Steverson is the son of former Anadarko residents, Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Steverson of Oklahoma City. He is the brother of Vivian Steverson, a teacher in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- STEWART, S2C DONALD, U.S. Navy, entered the service in January of 1943. His older brother, HARRY STEWART, is in the army. They are the sons of former Anadarko residents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stewart of Lawton, Ok. They are the grandsons of Mrs. Cora Stewart of Anadarko. Donald attended school in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- STEWART, S2C JACKSON SIBLEY, U. S. Navy, 21, enlisted in the navy Nov. 13, 1942 and received his boot training at Farragut, Idaho and finished hia training at Norfolk, Va. He is serving on a cruiser somewhere in the Atlantic. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.O. Stewart of Anadarko. He attended Anadarko schools ans qas working for the ContinentaL Oil Company in San Francisco, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- STEWART, CADET NURSE JUNE and S2C JAMES B. STEWART, U.S. Navy, are the daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Sewart. Miss Stewart graduated from Anadarko High School with the class of 1943. She entered nurses training at St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Oklahoma City June 19, 1943 as a cadet nurse. Seaman Stewart enlisted in the navy at the age of 17 in August of 1944. He took his basic trainng at San Diego, Calif., and has been attending a radio school there. He attended Anadarko High School. ---------------------------------------------- STEWART, LT. ROBERT H. is the son of R.M. Stewart of Albert and a brother to Mrs. A.C. Tackett of Albert. He was born in Anadarko and attended school at Albert. He graduated from business college in Norman, Ok. He is married and his wife is now living in California. He has been stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. ---------------------------------------------- STIDHAM, PVT. ALFRED, is the son of Mrs. Mary Stidham and the brother of Mrs. Jess Garrett. He entered the service in September of 1942. He attended school at Roach and Fairview. He is married to the former Margaret Krupka, who is making her home in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- STILES, SGT. HERMAN RALPH, volunteered for the service in March of 1942. He was stationed at Dodd Field, Fort Sam Houston and then transferred to Camp Barkeley, Texas where he is now. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Stiles of Anadarko. He received his educaton from the Anadarko schools, except for his last year, which was spent at the Wentworth Military Academy at Lexington, Mo. where he graduated. He was employed by the Houson Post Office. ---------------------------------------------- STOCKING, PFC. HARRY VERN enlisted in September of 1941 and has been stationed at Scott Field, Ill. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Stocking of Carnegie. He is a graduate of Carnegie High School and of an Oklahoma City business college. ---------------------------------------------- STOCKTON, FLOYD C. of Fort Cobb and GAYLE W. KIZER of Apache, are two of Caddo Counties newest boys to become pilots with the rank of second Lieutenants in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Both were awarded their commission Dec. 5 and given new assignments for training of advanced flying students. Both are due for graduation into active war service early in January. Kizer graduated from Ellington Field in Houston, Texas and Stockton graduated from Brooks Field, in San Antonio, Texas ---------------------------------------------- STONE, KENNETH, U.S. Navy, is the son of former Anadarko resident Mrs. Ruth Stone. He entered the navy in September of 1943 and has been stationed at Farragut, Idaho. He attended school in Kansas. ---------------------------------------------- STRANGE, J.E., 17, United States Navy, Fireman Third Class, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Strange of Fort Cobb. He entered the navy on July 11,1942 and has been stationed at the navy pier in Chicago, Ill. in airplane mechanics and gunnery training. ---------------------------------------------- STRATTON, S-SGT. KENNETH is the son of Mrs. R.L. Fielden of Fort Cobb. He enlisted in the army Feb. 11, 1941 and is a mechanic in the air corps. He was stationed at Kelly Field, Texas until January. He is now at Altus, Ok. He graduated from Fort Cobb High School. ---------------------------------------------- STROUD, PVT. HERMON LYN, 18, entered the service Aug. 22, 1945 and received his basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas. He is now stationed at the airplane mechanics school at Keesler Field, Miss. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Stroud of Cogar. He attended school at Mount Olive and was engaged in farming prior to his military service. ---------------------------------------------- STROUD, PVT. SIDNEY V., 19, entered the U.S. Army Sep. 6, 1944 and received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark. and is stationed with the infantry in the Philippine Islands. He has been overseas since May 8, 1945. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stroud of Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- STUMBLINGBEAR, PVT. REUBEN is the son of Andrew Stumblinbear of Apache. He is married and his wife also makes her home in Apache. He attended schools at Alden, Boone, Fort Sill Indian School, Phoenix, Ariz., Santa Fe Indian School, Washita and Chilocco Indian School. He entered the service on April 2, 1942 and was stationed at Sheppard Field, Texas. He is now somewhere in England. ---------------------------------------------- STURM, PFC. MERLE E. entered the service in 1943, receiving his basic training at Miami Beach, Fl. and Camp Barkeley, Texas. He is now stationed with the 99th Supply Squadron at Assam, India.
