CYRIL, of Gracemont, is the son of of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Rackley of Alfalfa. He enlisted in the army air corps Jan. 1, 1941. He received his training at Kelly Field, Texas and Mitchell Field, Long Island, N.Y. i January of 1942. He was sent to Australia and he had been stationed in New Guinea. He is married, and his wife, the former Marjorie Patton, has been a member of the Gracemont School faculty the past two years. ---------------------------------------------- RADER, LEO LOVE, Cook Third Class, is 20 years old. He joined the forces Sep. 12, 1942. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Rader of Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- RADER, PVT. OTIS LOVE, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Rader of Anadarko. He attended school in Washita. He is 22 years old and has been stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. ---------------------------------------------- RATLIFF, PVT. FRED L., of Fort Cobb, is stationed with the medical section, CASC Unit 1928 at Camp Roberts, Calif. He joined the U.S. Army in January of 1942 and spent 10 weeks at Camp Grant, Ill. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. U.S. Ratliff of Fort Cobb and was formerly employed in Anadarko. He attended Oklahoma A&M College. ---------------------------------------------- RATLIFF, SGT. LEONARD, gunner in the army air corps, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. U.E. Ratliff of Fort Cobb. He enlisted in the service in June of 1942 and received his basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas. He went to Sioux Falls, S.D. for advanced training in the gunnery school and has served with the 8th air force in England since June of 1943. He has received the air medal for service. He is a graduate of the Fort Cobb High School and his wife, the former Lucy Meek of Fort Cobb, is employed at the Washita Valley Bank at Fort Cobb. ---------------------------------------------- REAVIS, LT. DICK, is the son of E.P. Reavis of Cyril. He was awarded his silver navigator's wings at the Army Air Forces largest navigation school at Hondo, Texas on March 21. He is now a second lieutenant and has been made an instructor at San Marcus, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- RECTOR, PVT. RAY R. of Anadarko graduated from a technical training course at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. He is the son of Mrs. Frank Thompson of San Diego Calif. and the nephew of Ray Rector and Mrs. C.A. O'Banion, both of Anadarko. He attended Anadarko schools and spent most of his life in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- REDIN, PVT. JAMES ROBERT, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Redin of Gracemont, was killed in action on the North African front, March 31. Redin was 23 years old and a graduate of Gracemont High School and was engaged in farming with his father prior to his army service. He volunteered into the army in January of 1942 and was first stationed at Camp Wolters, Texas. Later he was sent to Fort Bragg, N.C. and was sent overseas as an infantryman. Mr. and Mrs. John Redin of Anadarko are his aunt and uncle. ---------------------------------------------- REED, LT. WILLARD W., 29, is the son of Arthur F. Reed of Athens, W.Va. and husband of the former Edith Maxson of Anadarko. He enlisted in the army in 1934 and after four years of foreign duty, he returned to teach R.O.T.C. in Oakland, Calif. He attended Fort Benning, Ga., where he remained as executive officer of the parachute school until his appointment to adjutant general's school. Reed left for overseas duty from Camp Pickett, Va. in 1944. ---------------------------------------------- REEDER, PVT. ALVIN, USM-RC, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reeder of Anadarko, enlisted in the service June 6, 1944, and received his boot training at San Diego, and Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Calif. He went overseas in November and was killed March 12, 1945 on Iwo Jima. Reeder attended schools in Anadarko. He was born at Gracemont and lived in Caddo County all his life. His wife, the former La Vina Anquoe and son, Alvin C., reside in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- REESE, CAPT. LEOLA M., is the sister of Mrs. W.W. Padgett of Cogar and received her discharge from the army in January. She entered the WAC's at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, on Aug. 3, 1942 and received her commission as 2nd Lt. in September of the same year. In April of 1943 she was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and took one of the companies first assignments when she was stationed at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Ark. She received her commission as captain on Oct. 25, 1943. Capt. Reese received her B.F.A. degree from Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater and was music instructor in the Binger schools for three years. She was a music supervisor in the education department of Missouri. She is now employed by the government in Washington, D.C. ---------------------------------------------- REEVES, REX, Technician 5th Grade, 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reeves of Apache. He entered the service Dec. 26, 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Howze, Texas and Camp Claiborne, La. He attended school at Stecker and Las Cruces, N.M. ---------------------------------------------- REMY, PVT. JUSTIN, 28, is the son of Mrs. Myrtle Remy of Cement. He attended school in Cement and entered the service on April 2, 1942. He is married and his wife is with him at Camp Barkely, Texas, where he has been stationed. ---------------------------------------------- RENFROW, PVT. ERNEST was inducted and left on Feb. 22, 1943 and has been stationed at Camp Wolters, Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Renfrow of Stecker. He attended school at Binger. He is married and his wife is now making her home in Lawton, Ok. ---------------------------------------------- REYNOLDS, VIRGIL is the brother of Mrs. Boone Davis of Anadarko and the son of Mrs. P.F. Reynolds of Duncan, Ok. He graduated from Anadarko High School and volunteered into the service in May of 1942. He is in the Coast Guard and has been stationed in Algiers, La. ---------------------------------------------- RICH, CPL. ALBERT is the son of Mrs. Vidia Rich of Holdenville, Ok. and he is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rich of Anadarko. He has been in the army for the past two years with the last year being spent at Fort Sill in Lawton, Ok. He was employed by the Anadarko Cotton Oil Mill. ---------------------------------------------- RICH, BERL, a former Anadarko resident is now with the U.S. Coast Guard at Portsmouth, Va. He is the nephew of Henry Rich of Anadarko and is 18. He received his education at Holdenville, Ok. ---------------------------------------------- RICHTER, PVT. LAWRENCE W., 19, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Richter, formerly of Anadarko, and the grandson of Mrs. J.A. Rogers of Anadarko. He entered the army air corps n 1945 and graduated at Keisler Field, Miss. He is stationed at Boeing Field, Seattle, Wash., in specialist school. He graduated from Robert Lee High School in Goose Creek, Tex. ---------------------------------------------- RIDGE, LT. LARRY D., 26, bombardier pilot, son of Clarence Ridge and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. T.V. Maxon of Anadarko, died of wounds received January 10 over Germany. He was buried in the American cemetery at Cambridge, England. His wife of Los Angeles, Calif. has been presented the Purple Heart, Air Medal and Presidential Citation posthumously. ---------------------------------------------- RIDLE, PVT. HAROLD E., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ridle of Gracemont. He has been stationed at Channut Field, Ill. He completed his first course as ground mechanic in the U.S. Air Corps and remained at Chanute Field for a course in instructor's training. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Dec. 8, 1941. ---------------------------------------------- RIDLEY, PFC. RAYMOND, is the son of Mattie Ridley of Anadarko. He entered the army in 1945 and received his training at Camp Wolters, Texas. He attended Anadarko High School and is now serving with the army in the Pacific. ---------------------------------------------- RILEY, PVT. WILLIAM M. attended Binger schools and was inducted into the army Feb. 8, 1943. He is the son of Mrs. Leona Smith of Binger. He is in the 341st Infantry and has been stationed at Camp Howze, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- ROACH, PVT. MARION O. DELL, 21, is the son of Mrs. Fannie Roach of Gracemont. He entered the service Sep. 17, 1942 and has been stationed at McChord Field in Washington. He attended school at Pleasant Hill. ---------------------------------------------- ROACHE, PVT. FRED, 23, is the son of Mrs. Tulie Shaffer. He attended Anadarko schools and business college and entered the service Oct. 16, 1942. He was sent to Shepard Field. Later he was stationed at the Los Angeles Aircraft School and then sent to base headquarters at Spokane, Wash. ---------------------------------------------- ROAN, O.J., 26, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Roan of Binger. He attended school at Oney, Cameron University at Lawton, Ok., Oklahoma A&M college in Stillwater and Southwestern Tech in Weatherford where he received his degree. He entered the service on June 27, 1942 and has been stationed at San Diego, Calif. He is married to the former Juanita Henry, who makes her home in Oney where she is a teacher in the school system. ---------------------------------------------- ROBERDS, PFC. JESS L., United States Navy, is the son of John Roberds, formerly of Bridgeport, now living in Chickasha, Ok. Fireman Roberds has been stationed in the Aleutian Islands for 17 months and also somewhere in the South Pacific. ---------------------------------------------- ROBERTSON, ALVIN BRADDELL and LT. E. GAYLE ROBERTSON, are the son and daughter of Mrs. Margaret C. Robertson of Anadarko. Alvin was inducted into the army in August of 1943 and took his basic training at Camp Custer, Mich. He is serving with the 167th Military Police in Italy after being with the 802nd Military Police battalion in the Middle East until January of 1945. Lt. Robertson enlisted in the nurses army air corps in July of 1943. She received her basic training at Hondo and San Antonio, Texas. She has served with the 14th Field Hospital in France from September of 1944 until February of 1945, when she was returned to the United States for medical treatment and is now in the Mitchell Field Army Hospital in New York City. ---------------------------------------------- ROBERTSON, PVT. FRANK, 28, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Robertson of Anadarko. He attended Broxton and Washita schools. For several months, following his entance into the army, he was stationed at Camp Barkeley, Texas. He is now stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. ---------------------------------------------- ROBERTSON, CPL. OREN S., 29, is the son of Mrs. Nora E. Robertson of Anadarko. He attended school in Anadarko before entering the army in October of 1941 and was employed at Rochelle, Ill., in a creamery. He has been stationed in England. He is married and his wife and son make their home in Newport News, Va. ---------------------------------------------- ROBINSON, JERRY WILLARD, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Robinson of Chickasha. He graduated from Verden High School in 1940 and attended an Oklahoma City business college for two years. He was employed with the agricultural department in Oklahoma City prior to his induction into the navy on June 9, 1943. He recently finished three months basic training at San Diego, Calif, and is in training at the quartermaster schools as a seaman, second class. ---------------------------------------------- ROBRECHT, SGT. EMMET, 25, and CPL. ROBERT ROBRECHT, 23, were raised in Anadarko and attended school here. Robert also attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. They are the brothers of Mrs. Ruby Emmons, Mrs. Margaret Austin, Mrs. Lee Thurmond, Mrs. C.W. (Agnes) O'Donnely and Mrs. Enda Warf and Fred Robrecht, all of Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- RODDY, 2nd. LT. THOMAS J., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Roddy of Fort Cobb. He attended Fort Cobb schools and the University of Oklahoma at Norman. Following that he was employed in the FSA regional office in Dallas, Texas for five years. He volunteered from there a year and a half ago into the Army Air Corps and is now stationed at Seattle, Wash. ---------------------------------------------- RODGERS, SGT. WILLARD, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Rodgers of Gracemont. He volunteered into the U.S. Air Corps in Oklahoma City in February of 1941. He received his first training at Kelly Field, Texas. He has been stationed at Minter Field near Bakersfield, Calif. He was recently married to Pensil Jones, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jones, and the couple are now making their home in California. ---------------------------------------------- ROEVER, jr. S-SGT. GEORGE W., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Roever sr., formerly of Apache. He was a former resident of Anadarko, moving to Texas where he attended NTSTC for three years before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in April of 1942. He has been in North Africa since May of 1943 and took part in the invasion of Sicily. He has been awarded the Evans Air Medal and two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters for gallantry in action. ---------------------------------------------- ROGERS, SGT. HARVEY, PVT. ABE E. ROGERS, PVT. VIRGIL ROGERS and PVT. HERSCHEL ROGERS, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Rogers of Gracemont. All were born and raised in Caddo County near Gracemont and attended the Washita School. Pvt. Abe has been in the service since February of 1942 and is now stationed somewhere in the Eastern war zone. He farmed prior to his entry into the service. Pvt. Virgil has been in the service since January of 1942 and was employed in California prior to entry. Pvt. Herschel entered the service in April of 1942 and is now at Fort Jackson, S.C. He farmed prior to his entry. Sgt. Harvey has been in the service since November of 1941 and is now stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Ok. Before entering the service he was a trader in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- ROGERS, PVT. HENRY DAVID, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Rodgers of Cement. He attended school at Cement and Anadarko and went into the army on Oct. 19, 1942. He has been stationed in Australia and the Southwest Pacific since February of 1943. ---------------------------------------------- ROGERS, PVT. LEO O. is in the air corps and has been stationed at Sheppard Field, Texas. He was born in Oklahoma City, Ok. and is the grandson of S.O. Wester of Anadarko and Mrs. Flora A. Wester of Archer City, Texas. He is the son of Mrs. Pearl Rogers of Oklahoma City. ---------------------------------------------- ROGERS, PFC. MELVIN E., 22 and PFC. BERT L. ROGERS, 20, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Rogers of Anadarko. Both attended the Washita grade school and farmed with their father previous to entering the service. Melvin entered the service Jan. 6, 1944 and is now in France. His wife is living in Anadarko. Bert entered the service April 22, 1943. He was married in 1942 and his wife and son are living in Berkeley, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- ROGERS, PVT. ROBERT VANCE, 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rogers of Gracemont. He is a 1942 graduate of Gracemont High School and was inducted into the U.S. Army Dec. 26, 1942. He has been stationed at the University of Kentucky in the A.S.T.P., Lexington, Ky. ---------------------------------------------- ROLAND, PFC. J.D., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Roland of Alfalfa. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps Jan. 18, 1943. He took his basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas and took advanced training in Illinois and Pennsylvania. He is now somewhere overseas. ---------------------------------------------- ROLLINS, RAYMOND E. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Rollins of Cement. He is 21 years old. He entered the service in July of 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Carson, Colo. ---------------------------------------------- ROONEY, PFC. JOHN W., 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Rooney of Anadarko. He entered the service Dec. 26, 1943. He is married and his wife is with him. He is stationed at Fort Pierce, Fl., and Camp Buttner, N.C. He was employed at the Anadarko Lumber Firm. ---------------------------------------------- ROSE, BERT is the brother of Mrs. B.M. Liticker and Miss Ranzo Rose and J.W. Rose, all of Anadarko. He attended Gracemont schools and volunteered into the navy in December of 1941. He has been stationed on Indian Island. He was married June 16 and his wife is now making her home at Chimacum, Wash. ---------------------------------------------- ROWLETTE, OLEN M. 'Tinker', United States Marine Corps, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rowlette of Fort Cobb. He enlisted in the marine corps in 1942 and received his basic training at Parris, Island, S.C., and Camp Lejeune, N.C. He has been overseas since 1944 and is now stationed in Okinawa. He graduated from Fort Cobb High School and attended Oklahoma A&M College at Stillwater. ---------------------------------------------- RUSSELL, S1C JUNIOR A., 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Russell of Richmond, Calif., former residents of Anadarko. Russell is stationed at Treasure Island, Calif., after having been returned to the United States after serving overseas with the navy for 20 months. Seaman Russell is the brother of S-SGT. VIRGIL R. RUSSELL, who was killed in action somewhere in Germany, Nov. 30, 1944 and SGT. W.D. RUSSELL who is stationed with the army in Germany. ---------------------------------------------- RUSSELL, CPL. VIRGIL R., 32, has been stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Russell of Anadarko. He attended school at Spaulding and Devol. He volunteered into the Fort Sill infantry nearly four years ago. He farmed south of Anadarko and Stecker before entering the service. He has also been stationed at Camp Wolters, Texas where he was a supply sergeant and last October was transferred to Camp Jackson. ---------------------------------------------- RUSSELL, CPL. W.D., 21, is the son of former Anadarko residents Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Russell of Richmond, Calif. He entered the service Nov. 25, 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Gordon, Ga. He attended school at Devol and Stecker. He has two brothers in the service, SGT. VIRGIL RUSSELL who is serving overseas and JUNIOR RUSSELL, with the United States Navy, also somewhere overseas ---------------------------------------------- RUTLEDGE, SGT. VERA of Fort Des Moines, Iowa, was one of the first WAC's from Caddo County. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Rutledge of Apache and lived with Mr. and Mrs. G.C. McVey for about six years when a small child. ---------------------------------------------- RYERSON, PVT. MARVIN, 27, and PVT. WAYNE C. RYERSON, 22, are the sons of H.R. Ryerson of Anadarko. They entered the service April 8, 1944, receiving their basic training at Camp Hood, Texas. They were with the 88th Division, stationed somewhere in Italy.
