ELDA and PVT. ELVA, 18, the twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Pack of Fort Cobb, entered the service in 1944 and received their basic training at Camp Fannin, Texas. They attended school at Oak Dale and Fort Cobb. They are now somewhere in Europe. ---------------------------------------------- PAHCODDY, PFC. LEE, whose family resides in Anadarko, entered the service in 1943 and received his basic training at Camp Barkeley, Texas. He has been on active duty since January of 1944 and has been awarded the driver's badge and good conduct medal. ---------------------------------------------- PAHDOCO, JESS, 29, is the son of Mrs. Lora Brown of Lawton. His wife and three children make their home at 302 East Virginia in Anadarko. He is stationed with the 9th army in Germany with the army combat engineer corps. He has been with the British 2nd army. He entered the service in April of 1944 and received his training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He attened school in Anadarko and was a plaster contractor in Lawton previous to his army service. He wears two major battle stars and the Good Conduct Medal. ---------------------------------------------- PALMER, SGT. DIXON, SGT. EARL PALMER, PFC. WILSON PALMER, CPL. LINN PALMER and CPL. GEORGE PALMER, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Palmer of Anadarko, are in the armed services and two other sons and two daughters are now the men behind their brothers with the guns. ---------------------------------------------- PALMORE, W.O. WILLIAM JARVIS, 27, is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Palmore of Verden, Ok. and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Jarvis, pioneer residents of Caddo County. He enlisted in the army in November of 1939 and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas; Camp Shelby, Miss.; Camp Coxcomb, Calif.; and Fort Dix, N.J., before going overseas. He received his commission as warrant officer in December of 1942. His wife and two daughters are making their home in San Antonio, Texas. He is a nephew of F.V. Riede of Gracemont and a brother of Fern Palmore. He attended elementary school in Anadarko and graduated from Chickasha High school in 1934. ---------------------------------------------- PARRISH, SGT. JOHNNY, 20, and PVT. ALFRED PARRISH, 18, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Tully Parrish. Sgt. Parrish enlisted in the army air corps at Corpus Cristi, Texas in February of 1942 and took his basic training in St. Petersburg, Fl., Chanute Field, Ill., and Atlantic City, N.J. He has been stationed in Italy since December of 1943 and was recently assigned to a flying fortress as a turret gunner. Pvt. Parrish enlisted in the air corps in November of 1943 and received his basic training at Sheppard Field Texas, where he graduated from glider school. He was transferred from there to Duncan Field in Duncan, Ok. and received advanced training at Lourninburg Maxton Army Air Base in North Carolina. He has been stationed at Austin, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- PARSONS, JOHN CLARENCE of Anadarko has been in the service of the navy for 16 years and made his last re-enlistment in August of 1941. He was sent to Hawaii last January and has been stationed in Pearl Harbor ever since. He is the son of Mrs. S.A. Parsons of Anadarko. He is married and has one son. He attended Buena Vista School prior to moving to eastern Oklahoma. ---------------------------------------------- PARTON, SGT. CLAUDE,25, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Parton of Anadarko. He attended schools in Anadarko and also the Chilocco Indian School for two years. He entered the service in 1940 in the Coast Artillery and was first stationed at Fort Crockett, Galveston, Texas. He is now stationed at San Diego, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- PARTON, NELSON, 29, entered the service Nov. 9, 1942. He has been stationed in Dutch Harbor, Alaska with the navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Parton of Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- PATTERSON, PVT. ALBERT, 20, has been stationed at Camp Howze, Texas. He is the son of M. Patterson of Anadarko. He entered the service Dec. 11 1942. He attended school in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- PAUL, SGT. ORAL S., 27, son of Mrs. Sarah C. Steele of Anadarko entered the service Sep. 10, 1940, receiving his training at Abilene, Texas with the 45th Division. He went on maneuvers in Louisiana and was then sent to Gail, Mass. In June of 1942 he was shipped overseas, seeing combat service in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Belgium before going into Germany. He was wounded in Germany. Paul attended schools at Pleasant Hill and in Anadarko. He was employed at the Guy Harris garage as a mechanic before going into the service. ---------------------------------------------- PAYAHSAPE, A.S. RUDY, 17, the son of Mrs. Emma Two Hatchet of Anadarko, enlisted in the navy in 1944. He is a former student of Riverside Indian school. Payahsape was the Oklahoma State Golden Gloves Champion in 1944. He is a full-blood Indian and a member of the original Kiowa tribe. ---------------------------------------------- PAYNE, SGT. A.W., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Payne of Gracemont. He is now stationed at Fort McDowell, Calif. He entered the service in 1936 and spent three years in the Philippines and returned to the United States a month before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He is 24 years old and attended school at Gracemont. His wife is now making her home in Batesville, Ark. ---------------------------------------------- PECK, S2C GLENN D., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herl C. Peck, former Anadarko residents. He entered the navy in 1945 and received his basic training at San Diego, Calif. Peck is now stationed in the South Pacific. ---------------------------------------------- PENDARVIS, S2C LEON, 20, and PVT. LEFTY PENDARVIS, 22, are the sons of Mrs. Rose Pendarvis and the late Tim Pendarvis. Both boys attended school here and for three years Leon was a member of the Lincoln High School football team. He entered the service of the navy on July 20,1942. He has been stationed at Port Chicago on the west coast. Lefty entered the service on Sep. 11, 1942 and has been stationed with the signal corps at Pine Dale, Calif. He is married and his wife makes her home here. ---------------------------------------------- PENTURF, PVT. WARD, 22 and PVT. TOM PENTURF, 20, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Penturf of Anadarko. They are paratroopers in the U.S. Army. The former was inducted into the service in November of 1942 and the latter in May of 1943. Both received basic training at Camp Mackall, N.C. and took advanced training at Fort Benning, Ga. They are graduates of Anadarko High School with the class of 1941 and also attended Jack school. Ward was engaged in farming at the time of induction and Tom worked for a steel construction company with offices in Oklahoma City. Ward is married to the former Margaret Glass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Glass, and she with their son, Alan Ward, make their home with her parents. He has been stationed in England. ---------------------------------------------- PEPPARD, SGT. GEORGE M. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Peppard of Anadarko. He entered the service in August of 1941 and won his wings as an armorer gunner and is completing his training for combat duty as a crew member of a B-24 Liberator bomber, stationed at Davis-Montran Field, Tucson, Ariz. He is a graduate of district #13 (Anadarko) High School. He is married and his wife makes her home in Tucson, Ariz. ---------------------------------------------- PERKINS, S2C VERNON, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perkins of Stratford, Calif., former Stecker residents. He went into the service in June of 1944 and took his training at San Diego, Calif. He attended school at Anadarko and Stecker. ---------------------------------------------- PETREE, PVT. WILLIAM L., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Petree of Anadarko and entered the service in 1944, receiving his basic training at Camp Robinson in Little Rock, Ark. He is now stationed in the Phillippines. Petree attended Anadarko schools and Oklahoma University at Norman. ---------------------------------------------- PEWO, S2C CALVIN, United States Navy, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Pewo of Apache. He volunteered for service in the armed forces Aug. 28, 1943 and went to San Diego, Calif. for his basic training. He has been stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. He attended school at Fort Sill Indian School at Anadarko where he was active in basketball and Boy Scout work. ---------------------------------------------- PHARISS, ENSIGN JOEL TOM is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Phariss of Anadarko. He entered the service Sep. 4, 1942 and is now stationed on the East coast. He graduated from Stecker High School in 1937 and is a graduate of the Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. While there, he received a diploma in welding and also one in combustion engines mechanics and operations. In June of 1942 he received his B.S. degree in engineering in trade and industrial education. ---------------------------------------------- PHILLIPS, PENELTON is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Phillips of Anadarko. He enlisted n the navy Dec. 20, 1941 and is now stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a second class seaman and a yoeman in the administration building. He attended High School at Anadarko and graduated from Ward's Business College. ---------------------------------------------- PHILLIPS, THOMAS GERALD entered the service in September of 1942. He is 17 and has been stationed at Los Angeles, Calif. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Phillips of Anadarko. He attended Anadarko School. ---------------------------------------------- PIERATT, JR., JAMES W., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Pieratt of Anadarko. He enlisted in the army air corps in December of 1941. He graduated from the radio school at Scott Field, Ill., in June of 1942. He was stationed at several camps in the United States and was sent to Australia in August of 1942. He is now somewhere in the Solomons. ---------------------------------------------- PIERCE, PVT. L.D., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Pierce of Anadarko. He was inducted Aug. 8, 1944 at Fort Sill, Ok. and received his basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas. He is stationed with the infantry on the Philippine Islands at the present time. He has been awarded the sharpshooter medal at Camp Wolters. He attended Stecker High School and was engaged in farming with his father at the time he was inducted. ---------------------------------------------- PITTMAN jr., SGT. JOHN M., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Pittman sr., of Anadarko. He was inducted into the army air corps July 6, 1942. He received his basic traning at Sheppard Field, Texas and was assigned permanent party there in the personnel department. He graduated in March of 1943 in the radio operator course of the AAF technical school at Sioux Falls, S.D., and in May of 1943, from an advanced AAF technical school at Tomah, Wis. He has been stationed at McChord Field, Wash., as a radio instructor. He graduated from Anadarko High School in 1939 and went two years to Oklahoma Baptist University and one year at Oklahoma University at Norman, prior to entering the service. ---------------------------------------------- POND, LT. FLOYD F., 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pond of Anadarko. He is a graduate navigator of Kelly Field, Texas, where he received his leiutenant's commission. He is now stationed at Esler Field, Camp Beauregard, Alexandria, La. He graduated from Fort Cobb High School and Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. ---------------------------------------------- POOLAW, PFC. FLINT F. 'Jackie', 19, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Poolaw. He volunteered for the service with the marine corps in July of 1943 and received his basic training at San Diego, Calif. At the present time he is in the South Pacific where he has partcipated in the battles of Saipan and Okinawa. He has two brothers who are in the service. ---------------------------------------------- POGUE, PVT. BOBBY, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ancle Pogue of Anadarko. Pogue entered the service May 30, 1945 and is stationed in the infantry at Camp Fanning, Texas. He attended school at Anadarko and previous to his military service he was employed by the Rock Island Railway Company. ---------------------------------------------- PRATT, CPL. THOMAS N. is the son of Mrs. Helen Arispi of Anadarko. He entered the armed service Oct. 9, 1943. He attended school here and was living in Berkeley, Calif., where he was engaged in sheet metal work when inducted. He is married and his wife makes her home in Berkeley. He has been stationed somewhere in England. ---------------------------------------------- PRICE, S-SGT. GEORGE H. volunteered into the service in September of 1940 and was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton until Feb. 1, 1943 when he was transferred to Fort Clark, Texas. His original home was in Muskogee. He graduated from Taft High School and following graduation was in the CCC service for three years in Arkansas and at Fort Sill. Price is married and his wife and two children make their home in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- PRICE, CPL. GRONER WILLIAM, 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey H. Price of Binger. He volunteered into the army February 12, 1941 and is now stationed with the 45th Division. ---------------------------------------------- PRICE, PVT. J.D., 23, is the son of Mrs. Ella Price of Anadarko and is the brother of WILLIAM PRICE, now stationed with the marines at San Diego, Calif. He attended the Tonkawa Schools. He entered the service Jan. 20, 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Polk, La. ---------------------------------------------- PRICE, PFC. ORRIS is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Foy Price of Anadarko. He attended the Anadarko Schools and entered the service April 2, 1942 and has been stationed in the service unit at Camp Swift, Texas and Camp Butner in North Carolina. He is married and his wife makes her home in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- PRICE, T-SGT. R.J., 22, is the son of Mrs. Ella Price of Anadarko. He entered the service Nov. 25, 1942 and has been stationed with Cpl. Russell at Camp Gordon, Ga. He attended school at Tonkawa and has two brothers in the service, PFC. WILLIAM PRICE of the USMC, who is stationed somewhere in the South Pacific and PFC. J.D. PRICE of the U.S. Army, who has been stationed somewhere in England. ---------------------------------------------- PRICE, PVT. WILLIAM is now stationed in Camp Elliott, San Diego, Calif. in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is the son of Mrs. Ella Price of Anadarko. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps Dec. 16, 1941. He attended school at Steedman and has a brother, John D. Price, serving as a private at Camp Polk, La. with the army. ---------------------------------------------- PRIGMORE, JOE is the son of Mrs. Maude Prigmore of Gracemont. He has been stationed at Camp Carson, Colo. ---------------------------------------------- PRINCE, ROY W., 25, is the son of Mrs. Etta Wengenroth of Anadarko. He attended schools at Lookeba and is now stationed somewhere in the Pacfic war zone. ---------------------------------------------- PRUITT, S-SGT. CLIFFORD W., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Pruitt of Gracemont. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in March of 1941 and is now stationed at Camp Forest, Tn. He was formerly stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton. ---------------------------------------------- PULIS, JOHN J. was born in Caddo County and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. P.F. Puiis of Verden. He is 25 years of age and received his schooling in Chickasha and Friona, Texas. He was employed in Anadarko at J.E. West Hardware. He enlisted in the navy Jan. 8, 1942. ---------------------------------------------- PULIS, PFC. NEALEY R., 25 and CPL. WILLIAM R. PULIS, 21, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Pulis of Anadarko. Private Pulis entered the army in the medical corps April 8, 1944, and took his basic training at Camp Barkeley, Texas. He attended a medical technician school at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas and has returned to Camp Barkeley. His wife, the former Geneva Reddick, and their son, Derrell Ray, make their home with the Pulis' and with her parents. Corporal Pulis entered the marine corps June 11, 1941, and received his boot training at San Diego, Calif. He served two and one half years in the South Pacific theatre of war and has been sationed at Fort Lauderdale, Fl. He wears the Purple Heart, has two Presidential Citations and a ribbon with three Silver Stars. ---------------------------------------------- PULIS jr., PFC. WILLIAM RILEY, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Pulis of Anadarko. He enlisted in he U.S. Marines June 11, 1941 and is now on foreign duty. He attended and graduated from Anadarko Schools. He is 18. ---------------------------------------------- PURVIS, JOHN M., 20, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Purvis of Anadarko. He attended school in Anadarko where he took an active part in athletics, especially baseball. He entered the service in October of 1942 and has been stationed at Hondo, Texas, where he is a mechanic in the air corps. ----------------------------------------------
