EDDIE, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Mans of Friona, Texas, former residents of Anadarko. He is the brother of Alfred Mans of Anadarko. He attended school at Stecker and entered the service in November of 1940. He is married to the former Geraldine Richey, who is with him and is employed as a nurse in a hospital there. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, SGT. CECIL H., 26, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Martin of Lookeba. He volunteered into the air corps December of 1941. His first training was received at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. He is now stationed with the 436th School Squadron, Greenville, Miss. His wife is the daughter of Charley Klingman of Binger and is now with a brother in Pittsburgh, Pa. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, PVT. DELBERT C., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hitt of Anadarko. He attended high school here and entered the army Nov. 18, 1942. He has been stationed with the medical department at Goodfellow Field in Texas. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, PFC. JAMES A., 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Martin of Binger. He entered the service Aug. 18, 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Barkeley, Texas . He has been stationed in England. His sister, Miss Effie Lena Martin, also lives in Binger. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, J.W. 'Jake', Seaman Second Class in the U.S. Navy, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Martin of Gracemont. He is 19, a former Anadarko resident and has attended schools in Texas. He enlisted July 23, 1942 and was sent to a naval training station in San Diego, Calif. He is now stationed in Alaska. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, CPL. LEONARD A., is the son of Mrs. Jessie Mathis of Binger. He has been stationed at Camp Haan, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, ROY of Fort Cobb enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Dec. 9, 1941. He is now yoeman third class and stationed at Charleston, S.C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. I.W. Martin. He was born on a farm south of Fort Cobb and graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1935. ---------------------------------------------- MARTIN, LT. WALTER W., of Anadarko has been training at the Eagle Pass, Texas flying school. His wife has been making her home in Eagle Pass. He is a former Anadarko business man. ---------------------------------------------- MARTINEZ, CPL. DALE, 19, is now stationed at Maxwell Field, Al. He is the grandson of Mrs. Nellie Wyatt of Anadarko. He enlisted in the air corps July 1941. ---------------------------------------------- MARTINEZ, SGT. JIMMIE F. has been in the service for 19 months and for the past 10 months he has been stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He was born and reared in the county and prior to entering the service he farmed in the Binger community. He is married and his wife now makes her home at Cogar. ---------------------------------------------- MARTINEZ, CPL. MANUEL, 23, and PVT. PAUL P. MARTINEZ, 25, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Martinez of Anadarko. Manuel is stationed in New York. He graduated from Anadarko High School in 1939 and entered the service in September of 1940. Paul graduated from Anadarko High School in 1936. He is single and entered the service in March 1942. He is stationed in Camp Bowie, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- MASON, PVT. JACK W., is the son of Mrs. Jewel Mason of Binger and entered the service Jan. 11, 1943. He received his training at Camp Haan, Calif. Mason attended school at Binger, Centerville and Mountain View. He is now in Luxembourg. ---------------------------------------------- MASSEY, PFC. PORTER L., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Massey of Gracemont. He is now stationed at Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif., in the hospital division. He received his education in schools in Arkansas and Oklahoma and also served 1 1/2 years in the CCC in both states. He received his first six month's training from Camp Grant, Ill. ---------------------------------------------- MATTHEWS, PVT. DONALD, 18, is the son of Mrs. John Fink of the Foster community. He was inducted into the army Sep. 17, 1943. He has been stationed at Camp Roberts, Calif. and attended school at Fort Cobb. ---------------------------------------------- MAULDIN, SGT. LUELL W. and CPL. ELDEN A . MAULDIN, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Mauldin of Gracemont. Sgt. Mauldin is a graduate of Fort Cobb High School and was employed in Lancaster, Ca., prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army in July of 1942. He received his basic training at Camp Barkley, Texas, and has been stationed in the medical corps at Fort Benning, Ga. He was an outstanding athlete in high school. He is married and his wife and baby live near Fort Benning. Cpl. Mauldin graduated from Gracemont High School in June 1942, just before enlisting for service in the U.S. Army. He received his basic training at Camp Hulen, Texas and has been stationed in the anti-air-craft division at Nashville, Tn. ---------------------------------------------- MAYFIELD, SGT. LEE E., 20, has been in the service for three years. He has been stationed recently at Camp Maxey, Texas. He is married to Miss Imogene Thyre, who is now living in Paris, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- MELENCAMP, S2C JOHN E., United States Navy, 17, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Melencamp of Fort Cobb. He entered the service Oct. 11, 1943 and took his boot training at San Diego, Calif. He has been stationed at Port Hueneme, Calif. He attended school inn Anadarko and Washita. ---------------------------------------------- MENASCO, SGT. BURNICE L., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Menasco of Gracemont. He is serving with the quartermaster section of the army air corps, now stationed in Hawaii. Menasco served with the National Guard unit from 1940-41, and was recalled in 1942 and received his training at Camp Barkeley, Texas and San Francisco, Calif. He was awarded the bronze star medal for aiding the invasion of the Marshall Islands and served there for one year before being stationed in Hawaii. Menasco graduated from Gracemont High School and is married to the former Miss Vera Schoonover. ---------------------------------------------- METZ, ERNEST LEROY, 22, is the son of former Gracemont residents Mr. and Mrs. George Metz of Devine, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Emma Metz of Anadarko. He graduated from the high school in Devine, Texas in 1939 and volunteered into service in July of 1942. He is a radio mechanic in the signal corps and has been stationed in Lexington, Ky. He is married and his wife is with him. ---------------------------------------------- METZ, FLOYD, 26, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Metz of Gracemont. He is with the U.S. Marine Corps and is serving as a diesel engineer. He was born in Gracemont and attended school at Spring Creek and Gracemont. He served about three years in the army at Fort Warren, Wy., during peace time. At the time of his enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps on May 27, 1943, he was employed at the Henry Ford Rouge plant in Michigan where he operated a Bullard machine. He is married and his wife lives in Dearborn, Mi., and works at the Ford plant. He took his basic training at Brooklyn, N.Y. and has been stationed in the South Pacific. ---------------------------------------------- METZGER, R.E., MM 1C, United States Navy and G.L. HAYS jr., CM3, United States Navy, are both somewhere in the South Pacific, serving with the seabees. Hays is the brother of Mrs. R.E. Metzger and enlisted for service August 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Bradford, Norfolk, Va. ---------------------------------------------- MEYERS, S-SGT. HILLARY A., is a graduate of Washita High School and has been stationed at Abilene, Texas, and the general hospital at Fort Bliss, Texas. He is married and his wife, the former Miss Ruth Mary Shaw, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Shaw of the Oak Dale community. ---------------------------------------------- MILAM, PVT. CLAUDE, 26, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mllam of Anadarko. He entered the service Sep. 17, 1942 and has been stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., with the ordnance evacuation company. He attended school at Roach. He is married and his wife makes her home near where he is stationed. He was engaged in farming before entering the service. ---------------------------------------------- MILLER, S1C ADREN AMOS 'Mutt', 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jesse James Miller, entered the navy June 12, 1944, and received his boot training at Farragut, Idaho. He is statoned aboard the destroyer USS Shields and participated in the battle of Okinawa. He has been in the South Pacific since Feb. 3, 1945. He was formerly employed by the Ray Stephens Oil Company in Anadarko and his wife, Mildred, and two children, Betty and Vonda, make their home here. He attended school in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- MILLER, SGT. CARL S., is the son of Mrs. Lillie Miller of Washita. He entered the services of the U.S. Army Feb. 4, 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Bowie, Texas. Living in the county are his three brothers, Paul of Gracemont, Robert of Washita and Wallace of Anadarko. Mrs. Ruth Cochran of Anadarko is his sister. ---------------------------------------------- MILLER, CPL. JAKE D., 25, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Miller of Carnegie. He entered the army in January of 1943 and is stationed in North Africa. ---------------------------------------------- MILLER, CPL. JAMES E., 21, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Miller of West Alexander, Pa. He entered the service Aug. 30, 1943, and received his basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas and gunnery school at Laredo, Texas. He is assigned to a B-17 as a tail gunner and is now stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. His wife, the former Dorothy Jean Epton, and daughter, make their home with her parents in Gracemont. ---------------------------------------------- MILLER, PVT. PAUL M., is the son of Rev. and Mrs. W.S. Miller of Anadarko. He has been stationed at Camp Lee, Va., with the quartermaster corps. Prior to entering the service he was employed as a foreman with the Northrup airplane corporation in Hawthorne, Calif. He is a graduate of Anadarko High School and attended Central State Teachers College at Edmond three years. He is married and his wife and baby daughter make their home here with his parents and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Watkins of Lawton. ---------------------------------------------- MILLER, PVT. ROBERT L. has been stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., in an engineer replacement training center. He attended baking school there. He was born at Washita and is the son of Mrs. Leslie Miller of Anadarko. He was inducted into the service Jan. 18, 1943. ---------------------------------------------- MILLICAN, SGT. WALTER E., 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Millican of Gracemont. He is a 1940 graduate of Gracemont High School and entered the service Oct. 6, 1942. He received his basic training Sheppard Field, Texas and in April of 1942 he graduated in a course in aviation mechanics at the North American Aviation Factory School at Inglewood,Calif. He received the silver wings, June 24, 1943 at the Army Air Force flexible gunnery school at Tyndall Field, Fl. He received advanced training at Salt Lake City, Utah, Pyote and Dalhart, Texas. He has been stationed somewhere in England since Nov. 20, 1943. ---------------------------------------------- MINGUS, LOUIS S., is the son of Mrs. Kathryn Mingus and John Mingus, of Anadarko. He attended Anadarko Schools and entered the service of the navy in January of this year. He is taking classes as a seaman second class on the West Coast. ---------------------------------------------- MITCHELL, PFC. WALTER, 23, is the son of Mrs. Florence Hicks of Binger. He attended school in Binger. He entered the service of the army May 4, 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Wood, Texas. ---------------------------------------------- MOBLEY, SGT. ALLIE C. and PFC. RAY MOBLEY, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Mobley of Fort Cobb. Both attended school at Washita. Sgt. Mobley, 24, was employed in Oklahoma City prior to entering the service April 8, 1941. He is now stationed at Camp Young, Ca. Pvt. Mobley, 21, entered the service January 20, 1942 and is now stationed at Camp Roberts, Ca. ---------------------------------------------- MOBLEY, JOE FREDERICK, 24, and LESLIE MONOE MOBLEY, 21, are the sons of Mr.and Mrs. J.W. Mobley of Fort Cobb. Joe was a student at Cameron College in Lawton at the time of his enlistment. He is now stationed with the U.S. Fleet training base, marine detachment in San Clementia Island, post mast, San Diego, Ca. Leslie enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1940, moving from Fort Sill to Camp Barkeley. He received an honorable discharge following Louisiana maneuvers and then returned to service at Camp Barkeley Jan. 25, 1942. He is now stationed with the 158th F.A. at Camp Devens, Mass. ---------------------------------------------- MOGG, CPL. WLLIAM FRED, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Mogg of Lookeba. He entered the service in 1940 and has been stationed somewhere in Alaska. He is the brother of Mrs. H.H. Reddick of Gracemont. He attended school in Lookeba. ---------------------------------------------- MOHAR, JOSEPH R., is the son-in-law of Mrs. Wengenroth. He has been with the navy for 26 years and is now in active duty somewhere in foreign service. His wife makes her home in California. ---------------------------------------------- MONTGOMERY, JACK L. is now attending the United States naval sheet metal training school in Chicago, Ill. He is the son of Mrs. E.G. Ports and the brother of Mrs. Amos Hines, both of Anadarko. He received his basic training at San Diego, Calif., following his enlistment last February. He attended schools in Carnegie and Anadarko and graduated from Yukon High School. ---------------------------------------------- MOORE, PVT. JESSE CARL, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Moore of Anadarko. He enlisted April 2, 1942 and was sent to Fort Sill at Lawton where he remained for four days. He was then transferred to Brooks Field 53rd Air Base in San Antonio, Texas where he is now stationed. ---------------------------------------------- MOOREHEAD, NOLEN, is a Seaman Second class in the U.S. Navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. V.W. Moorehead of Gracemont. He entered the U.S. Navy on Dec. 16, 1942 and has been stationed at a destroyer base in San Diego, Calif. ---------------------------------------------- MOOREHEAD, CPL WELTON W., is the son of Mrs. Emma Moorehead of Gracemont. He is a graduate of Gracemont High School and was employed at the Anadarko Cotton Oil Mill two years before entering the service in December. He has been stationed at Elser Field, La., in the personnel department. ---------------------------------------------- MORAN, F-O MARION W., 24, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moran of Apache. He enlisted in the air corps Nov. 5, 1942 and went from Fort Sill in Lawton to Camp Claiborne, La. for his basic training. He went from there to San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 19, 1943 for air cadet training and received advanced training at Coleman, Texas and received his wings at Moore Field, Texas Feb. 8, 1944 where he had been stationed since November of 1943. ---------------------------------------------- MORGAN, PFC. TROY L., is the son of Mrs. Alma Morgan of Gracemont. He graduated from Gracemont High School and entered the U.S. Army in March 1942. He has been stationed with the Coast artillery on the west coast. He is married and his wife now makes her home on the coast, where she is employed. ---------------------------------------------- MORRIS, GEORGE JACK, S2C, United States Navy, 17, is the son of Mrs. H.O. Melson of Anadarko. He entered the service July 20, 1942 and has been attending radio school in Port Townsend, Wash. Weber Hollister, CA ------------------------------------------------------ MORRISON, CPL. EUNICE, is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Morrison of Gracemont. He volunteered into the U.S. Army in 1941 and has been an instructor in the U.S. Air Force technical school in Lincoln, Neb. He is a graduate of Fort Cobb High School. ---------------------------------------------- MORRISON, PVT. ROY H, 30, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Morrison of Fort Cobb. He joined the marines in 1944, receiving his boot training at San Diego, Calif. He was shipped overseas in 1945 and is now with the 4th air wing division somewhere in the South Pacific. He is a graduate of Oney High School. ---------------------------------------------- MOSHER, CURTIS, of Anadarko, was a technician fifth grade in the 106th Cavalry Reconnaissance group in the European theatre of operations. He was awarded the bronze star, good conduct medal, European theatre of operations ribbon with two battle stars, the Croix de Guerre with palm and the Purple Heart. Mosher was discharged from the service after 22 months of service,16 of which were spent overseas and 157 consecutive days in combat. He and his wife, the former Jeanne Goodfellow, and their small daughter, live in Anadarko. ---------------------------------------------- MOULDEN, CPL. MARVIN L., is the son of Mary Ellen Moulden of Anadarko. He attended school here and has been stationed in Station Hospital, New Orleans, La. He entered the service April 2, 1942. He is married and his wife is teaching school here. Before entering the service he was employed at Hollar Cleaners. ---------------------------------------------- MOWDY, PVT. VERNON L., 26, son of Mrs. Marguerete Newell, Oakland, Calif., formerly of Gracemont. He entered the service Oct. 17, 1944, and received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark. He is now stationed somewhere in the Philippines. Prior to going into the service he was employed at Moore Drydock Shipyard in Oakland, Calif. His wife and two sons, Vernon Jr. and Mickey, make their home at Gracemont. ---------------------------------------------- MUGG, PVT JOHN W., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mugg of Anadarko. He enlisted Nov. 4, 1941 and was assigned to Fort Sill for three weeks. He was transferred to Camp Wolters and in March to Camp Barkeley, Texas. His present station is in Fort Devens, Mass. He attended Anadarko schools. ---------------------------------------------- MYERS, S2C EARL H., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Myers of Anadarko. After joining the navy March 15, 1945, he received his boot training in San Diego, Calif., and advanced training in Shoemaker, Calif. He is now stationed on Okinawa. Myers is a graduate of the Fort Cobb schools and was engaged in farming prior to his naval service. His brother, O.W. Myers, has received his discharge from the marine corps. ---------------------------------------------- MYERS, PFC. O.W., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Myers of Anadarko. He joined the marines in 1943, receiving his boot camp training at San Diego, Calif. He has been overseas for six months and has been stationed in Scotland, England and Ireland.
