He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Dailey of Anadarko and was inducted into service April 3, 1941. He attended Stecker School. DARBRO, W.H., 32, is now with the section base commissary in Treasure Island, San Francisco, Calif. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Darbro of Anadarko. He enlisted in the navy January 5, 1942 and attended school at Warner and Woodward before coming to Anadarko. DARNOLD, LT. VYRLE WAYNE, 20, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Darnold and the grandson of W.C. Darnold. He was reported missing in action in the Italian theatre March 10, 1944 and is now being held prisoner by the Germans. He enlisted in the U.S. Air corps at Chickasha and received his commission after graduating as a pilot July 28, 1943 from Williams Field, Chandler, Ariz. He was born in Anadarko and attended school near Los Angeles, Calif. He has been stationed with a fighter squadron of the American Air Forces in the Mediterranean. DAUGHERTY, PVT. JACK, 30, is the son of Charley Daugherty of Cement. He has been stationed with an infantry unit on the west coast. He has been in the service since June 2, 1941 and enlisted in California. He attended Anadarko Schools. DAVIDSON, LOIS F. is the son of James Davidson of Gracemont. He graduated from the U.S. Navy Aviation Radio School in Corpus Christi, Texas on Jan. 8, 1942. He was stationed in Hawaii. He graduated from Gracemont High School. DAVIS, PVT. COYLE A. and PVT. PAUL DAVIS are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Davis of Anadarko. Coyle recently completed training with a parachute battalion and received his diploma from Fort Benning, Ga. Paul attended Washita High School and has lived near Anadarko since he was 10. Coyle graduated from Lone Grove High School. DAVIS, LT. DURANT and JOHN HAMILTON DAVIS are two of four sons of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Davis of Anadarko. Lt. Davis is 30 and married. His wife makes her home with him. He entered the service in Sept. 1942. He attended school at Ardmore and is now a machine operator in the navy. Other brothers in the service are PAUL and COYLE A. DAVIS. DAVIS, GLEN A., 20, and VERNON A DAVIS, 18, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Boone A. Davis of Anadarko. Glen, who enlisted in the United States Marines Oct. 7, 1941, is now in mechanics school for marines at Chicago, Ill. Vernon, also in the marines, enlisted Dec. 12, 1941 and is now stationed at Camp Elliott, San Diego Calif. Both of the marines attended Cyril Schools. DAVIS, SGT. GORE O., DEMPSEY O. DAVIS and ROMIE ALVIN DAVIS are the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Davis of Apache. Sgt. Davis is 22 years old. He enlisted in the army June 14, 1938 and three years in the 38th infantry. He is now in the air corps, stationed at Kelley Field, San Antonio, Texas. Dempsey, 20, just finished three years in the army and then enlisted in May in the navy. He is now stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training School in Illinois. Romi, 17, enlisted in the navy and is also stationed at the Great Lakes school. DAVIS, CPL. JAMES R. is the son of Mrs. Allie Davis of Anadarko. He is 23 and a graduate of Lincoln High School, enlisting in the army April 9, 1941. He has been stationed at Camp Lockart, Calif. DAVILLA, PFC. RAYMOND H., 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Davilla of Anadarko. He enlisted in the air corps Feb. 11, 1943 and has been stationed at Camp Sibert, Ala., where he finished a course in technical training in the army air force. At the time of enlistment he was working in Seattle, Wash. and had attended school at Anadarko. DEAN, PFC. ALVIN, 27, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Dean of Cement. He was inducted into the service Sept. 1942 and took his basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark. He was assigned to the medical corps at Modesto, Calif., and has been stationed in New Guinea with the 47th General Hospital. His wife, the former Miss Fern Weaver, makes her home here. DEAN, PVT. LOYD of the 12th FA Osn. Bn. Hq. Btry at Fort Sill in Lawton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dean of Cement. He attended both grade school and high school at Cement and Carnegie Junior College in 1940 and 1941. He enlisted in the army January 1942. DEATON, PVT. WILLIE J., son of Mrs. E.J. Deaton of Ardmore is a former resident of Eakly. He is a member of the 6th artillery division that landed at Lingayen Gulf, Jan. 9. The division was in position for 107 consecutive days breaking the Pacific record. They are now in a rest camp. DECK, PVT. COY L., 24, S1c, USN, ROBERT S. DECK, 27, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Deck of Gracemont and S-SGT ROBERT E. SWISHER, 26, is the husband of the former Rowena Deck. Pvt. Deck is a graduate of the Tonganoxie High School in Leavenworth County, Kan., and enlisted in the U.S. Army for foreign service in July of 1943. He is now in England and his wife, the former Pauline Ellis of Duncan, along with their son, Coy Lee Jr., is living with his parents. Robert Deck also graduated from the Tonganoxie High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in December of 1942. He received his basic training at Norfolk, Va. and is now stationed somewhere in the Pacific. Sgt. Robert E. Swisher is with the U.S. Army Air Corps and following his enlistment in May of 1941 he received training at Will Rogers Air Field in Oklahoma City. He is now stationed at Tullahoma, Tenn., as an instructor in teletype and maintenance. He married Miss Deck in December of 1941 and she and their small son, Robert Elden, live in Newark, Ohio. DEPUE, PFC. LESTER L., 26, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Depue, former residents of Gracemont. He entered the services by induction in 1942 ad received his training at Camp Wolters, Texas. He has been stationed with the infantry in Alaska the past two years. He attended school at Atoka and was engaged in farming. DEVAUGHN, QUINTON - Quinton Beryl DeVaughan, the son of Zed F. DeVaughan and Ilma (McCarty) DeVaughan of Binger, enlisted in the Navy 14 April 1945. He was discharged 16 July 1946. He was on the (USS Fuller), leaving San Diego, Ca. on his way to Leyte Island in the Philippines. There he transferred to the (USS Regal) a repair ship for duration of his tour, returning to Oakland, Ca., and then to his home in Binger,Ok. submitted by Bobby DeVaughan DEWEESE, ELLIS is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Deweese of Fort Cobb. He is an aviation machinist mate, third class and is stationed at the air base in Corpus Christi, Texas. He volunteered May 8, 1940. He has three sisters, Mrs. John Bellamy and Mrs. Dale Orrell, both of Fort Cobb and Mrs. Harry Cornelson of Oklahoma City. DICKENS, LOUIS D., USN, S2c, is the son of Mrs. Marie Dickens of Anadarko. He attended school here and entered the navy on Nov. 23, 1942. He received his first training at the Great Lakes, Ill., training station. DITMORE, H.A. 2c, BOBBY, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Odie Ditmore of Anadarko. He entered the navy in Dec. 1944 and received his boot training at Great Lakes. Before enlisting Ditmore attended Oklahoma University. He is now stationed at the San Diego marine base. DIXON, SGT. ALVIN, 29, is the husband of the former Miss Earline Walker of Anadarko. He has been in the army since 1936 and was stationed at Fort Sill until 1939. He has spent 39 months in the South Pacific and is now stationed in the Dover army air field in Dover, Del. Dixon attended school in Pawhuska and is the son of Mrs. H.E. Pogue of Pawhuska. DORSEY, CPL. ORVAL R., 23, of Camp Paraiso in the Canal Zone is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Dorsey of Binger. He is single and attended high school at Albert. He is now in the machine gun crew. He volunteered in January 1941. His grandparents are Mrs. J.W. Dorsey of Fort Cobb and Mrs. A.W. Kerns of Anadarko. DOUGLASS, PVT. CALVIN and PVT. CHARLES M. DOUGLASS, are the soldier sons of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Douglass of Anadarko. Both men attended schools in Anadarko. Calvin volunteered in the service April 4, 1941 and has been stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska with a medical division. Charles volunteered into the service Aug 22, 1940 and has been stationed at Dutch Harbor, Alaska. DOWNING, PVT. EDEN, is the son of Mrs. Margaret Downing of Oklahoma City. He was inducted into the army Aug 1942 and received his basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas. He also trained several months on the desert in California. He has been stationed in England with an anti-aircraft unit. He attended school at Verden. Prior to the time of entering the service he was employed at the Broadway Barber Shop in Anadarko. DOZIER, PFC. GLENN E. is the grandson of Mrs. Ella Auxior of Hydro. He attended school near Hydro and enlisted in the army in 1942. He has been stationed in the Eastern War Zone in Ireland. Other relatives living in Caddo County are Sam Auxior and Mary Belle Auxior, both of Hydro. DRAKE, CPL. RAYMOND RAY is the son of Mrs. Henretta Drake of Apache. He has been in the service since Nov. 22, 1940. He is married and his wife and their son, Raymond Ray Drake, Jr., make their home at Fort Sill in Lawton, where he is stationed. DRIGGERS, PFC. EARL E., 26, is the son of Mrs. T.H. Johnson of Plant City, Fla., and entered the service on July 16, 1940, receiving his training at Fort Sill and in Florida. He is now stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. His wife, the former Miss Elsie Ridley, and his son, Earl Paul, live here in Anadarko. Driggers attended schools in Plant City, Fla. DUBOIS, BILLY BUSTER, 16, is the son of the late Cecil DuBois. His mother, Mrs. Peggy Riddle, now lives in Houston, Texas. He was aboard ship at Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941 and was wounded by shrapnel. Hospitalized for 18 days after being returned to San Diego, the youth was given a furlough to return to Caddo County until his 17th birthday on July 20. He was born in Gracemont in 1925 and attended schools there. The Tallent-Gassaway VFW post lays claim to the youngest veteran of foreign wars in the United States with him on their rolls. (same as above) DUBOIS, BILLY BUSTER, 17, a Caddo county boy who slipped into the navy before he was 17 years old has received his third wound of World War II. Because of the third action casualty, Dubois, now a paratrooper in a Yank infantry company will be sent back from Italy to a hospital in the United States. Dubois was born in Gracemont, July 20, 1925 and attended Gracemont schools. He is the youngest veteran of the Tallent- Gassaway VFW post here. His mother, Mrs. Peggy Riddle, has been making her home in Houston, Texas. DUBOIS, CPL. ROY L., 22, and DON DEAN DUBOIS, USNR, S1c, 20, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. DuBois of Gracemont. Corporal DuBois entered the army Feb. 18, 1943 and received his training at Camp Haan, Calif. He went overseas in April 1944 and has been stationed in Dutch New Guinea, South Pacific with a searchlight battalion. Seaman DuBois entered the navy May 14, 1943 and took his basic training at San Diego, Calif. He has been serving as a gunner on a merchant vessel in the Southwest Pacific going to the islands of New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Admiralty Islands, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and to the South American continent. DUDLEY, KENNETH RAY, 21, has been stationed at Garden City, Kans. in the air corps. His wife is with him. He enlisted September 1942. He is the son of Mrs. Nora Dudley of Anadarko. DUDLEY, T/SGT. WILLARD, 27, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Dudley of Apache. He entered the service Jan. 4, 1942 and went to Sheppard Field, Shreveport, La., and has been stationed overseas as a crew chief in the air corps. He attended school at Broxton and Apache. He was employed as a supervisor here at the AAA office. His wife, the former Martha Frick, is making her home for the duration with her mother in Anadarko. DUFF, THOMAS D. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Duff of Lookeba. He is a seaman second class radio man in a bomber squadron. He enlisted in the navy in September 1941. He graduated from Lookeba High School in 1934 and attended radio school in Los Angeles, Calif. He is 25 and has been stationed somewhere in Alaska. DUNCAN, HERBERT LEE, ST3c, USN, 18, is the grandson of Mrs. Bessie Anderson and Mrs. Sylvia Duncan of Anadarko. He enlisted in the navy Nov. 26, 1942 and received his basic training at Norfolk, Va. He has been stationed at Newport News, Va. He graduated from Lincoln separate school May, 1942 where he was active in basketball and football. DUNCAN, PVT. LLOYD L., 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Duncan of Hydro. He went into the service July 22, 1943 and took his basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. He went from Fort Sill to Fort Meade, Md., and has been stationed in England. He attended school at Fort Cobb and Albert. He is married to the former Miss Juanita Avery, daughter of Jim Avery of Fort Cobb, and makes her home in Oklahoma City. DUNCAN, VELMER and JOSEPH DUNCAN are the sons of Mrs. E.V. Duncan of Anadarko. Velmer has been on duty in a Pearl Harbor hospital and has been in the U.S. Navy for 14 years. He is married and his wife and daughter are living at Tacoma, Wash. He attended school at Anadarko and was in Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. Jospeh has been stationed at Camp Devens, Mass, with a field artillery unit. He is single and entered the service when the National Guard was mobilized here. He attended schools here and the Anadarko Business School. DUNN, DAVID, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Dunn of Anadarko. He graduated from Stecker and from Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. He entered the service Sept. 26, 1942 and has been stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. He is married and his wife has been making her home near the Kentucky camp. Mrs. S.J. Hanger of Anadarko is his grandmother.
