LOYD CADELL, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Cadell of Fort Cobb. Floyd Cadell was inducted in the army Jan. 18, 1943 and is now stationed at Tuscon, Ariz. Both boys attended schools at Fort Cobb. CALDER, PVT. WAYNE E., 31, is the son of Mrs. Mary Calder of Carnegie. He was inducted into the service Aug. 7, 1942 and from Fort Sill was sent to St. Petersburg, Fla., for his basic training. He was transferred from there to Gulfport Field, Miss., where he received training as an aviation mechanic. He has been stationed at Morrison Field, West Palm Beach, Fla. He received all of his schooling at Carnegie and was employed at the Wilson Produce Company at Carnegie at the time he entered the service. CALLAHAN, BILLY GENE, MM3c, USN, is the son of Mrs. Oma Moorehead. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Lubbock Texas, July 1943 and received his basic training at Camp Peary, Williamsburg, Va. He attended school here and at Camp Creek. CALLAHAN, JR., S/SGT. F.J. is the son of Mayor and Mrs. F.J. Callahan Sr. and was born in Anadarko and received his early schooling here. He finished high school at St. Mary's School in Kansas. He enlisted in the air coprs in November 1940 and has been in a bombing squadron stationed in India since March 1942. CALLISON, TOMMY L. and BILLIE RAY CALLISON are the sons of former Anadarko residents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Callison of Sand Springs. Both are stationed in the west coast area with the U.S Marines. The youths have been in the service since April 1941. They are the grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Whitley of Gracemont. CANNON, DICK, Y 2c, USN, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Cannon of Oklahoma City and the brother of Mrs. E.D. Lair of Anadarko, where he made his home for over five years. He enlisted in the service Nov. 1, 1943 and has been stationed at Camp Shoemaker, Calif. He attended school at Tonkawa and was employed at OG&E in Oklahoma City at the time of entering the service. He is married and his wife and daughter make their home at Sentinel with her parents. CAREY, GERALD D., S2-c, USN, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Del Carey of Binger. He entered the service March 9, 1943 and took his boot training at San Diego, Calif. He has been serving on an aircraft carrier in the Cenral and South Pacific for the past seven months and has been torpedoed on the carrier in the Gilbert islands. He graduated from Binger High School and attended Oklahoma A&M college at Stillwater one semester before entering the service. CARSON, STAFF SGT. LAWRENCE E. is the son of Van Carson of Fort Cobb, formerly a resident of Crescent. He attended school at Crescent and farmed with his father near Fort Cobb prior to his moving to Dallas, Tex., where he was the owner of a tinnery shop up to the time of his entrance into the armed services on April 5, 1942. He was married in Dallas in Dec.1941. Sergeant Carson has been stationed with the Waycross army air base at Waycross, Ga. CARTER, PVT. EDMOND, 30, is the son of Mrs. Ruth E. Carter and the late W.T. Carter of Cement. He was inducted into the army July 1, 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Carson, Colo. He has been stationed at Camp Roberts, Calif. He attended school at Gracemont and was employed at the rock crusher in Cement before entering the service. CASTILLO, PFC. RALPH J. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Castillo of Anadarko. He attended Stecker School. He volunteered for service in September 1941. He is now stationed in Hawaii. He was in Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. CASTO, PFC. R.L. is now stationed with Regt. Headquarters Battery, 65th C.A. (Anti-Aircraft division) in Inglewood, Calif. He is the son of Mrs. F.A. Cossey of Fort Cobb. CASTRO, RAYMOND ROUDOF, USN, volunteered for the service Jan 15, 1943. He is 17 and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cuco E. Castro of Apache. He attended Anadarko, Washita and Broxton schools and has been stationed at Camp Farragut, Calif. CHALLIS, PFC. LEONA L., of the WAC's is the daughter of R.W. Challis of Apache. She is stationed atTinker Field in Oklahoma City, taking hospital training. Private Challis went into the service June 1, 1944 and took her basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. She is a graduate of Alden High School. CHANDLER, S1c J.O., 19, is the son of W.F. Chandler of Binger and S2c KENNETH DIETRICH, 18, is the son of Charles M. Dietrich of Alden. Chandler entered the navy in March 1944 and attended school at Broxton prior to that time. He wears the campaign ribbons of Okinawa and Iwo Jima and is now stationed at New York City, N.Y. Dietrich graduated from Alden High School and entered the navy May 18, 1945. He received his boot training at San Diego, Calif., and is now stationed at Seattle, Wash. CHEADLE, PVT. J.C., 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Cheadle of Anadarko. He attended school at Lincoln School and was engaged in farming before entering the armed forces July 20,1943. He is now stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. CHEATHAM, SGT. NATHAN of Fort Cobb is with the 645th Tank Destroyers Battalion Co. A, A.P.O. 45 C-O Postmaster in New York, N.Y. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John N. Cheatham of Anadarko and the brother of Mrs. H.E. Waer of Clinton. He graduated from Fort Cobb High School and entered a CCC camp and enlisted in the army in February 1941. CHERRY, JR., PVT. J.V., 20, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Cherry of Hodgens and is stationed in England with the U.S. Air Corps. He was born at Hinton and graduated from El Reno High School. He is the grandson of Mrs. L. Miller of Anadarko and Mrs. Julia Cherry of the Spring Creek community. CHOAT, ELMER 'Bud', 22, is the son of former Gracemont residents Mr. and Mrs. Dan Choat of Bakersfield, Calif. He entered the service Aug. 19, 1941. His brother, Arthur Choat, lives in Anadarko. CHRISMON, CPL VIRGIL, 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Chrismon, of Marlow, entered the service Nov. 1942; receiving his basic training at Newport News, Va. He attended school at Whitebread and was engaged in farming prior to going into the service. His two nephews, S1c FLOYD McCATHERN, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. McCathern of Cogar and PVT. JUNIOR CHRISMON, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.R. Chrismon of Gracemont entered the service Jan. 1944 and Dec. 1944, respectively. McCathern received his boot training at San Diego, Calif., and is stationed somewhere in the South Pacific. He is the grandson of Mrs. Silas Chrismon and attended school at Cliffdale. He was employed at a war plant in Fort Worth, Texas prior to entering the service. J.R. Chrismon received his basic training at Camp Fanin, Texas with the infantry. He attended school at Binger and farmed with his father previous to entering the service. CHRISTIAN, S2c RAYMOND, 18, and S1c HAROLD LEE CHRISTIAN, 22, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Christian of Apache. Raymond Christian has been in the navy since May 19, 1945 and received his basic training at San Diego and is now stationed in the South Pacific. He attended school in Apache and Stecker and was employed in a Cleveland, Ohio war plant before going into the service. Harold Lee Christian as been in the navy since June, 1945 and received his boot training at San Diego, Calif., and is now stationed in the South Pacific. He attended school in Apache and Stecker and was in the forestry service in California previous to his military service. CHRONISTER, BEATY of Anadarko has been stationed at Fort Devens, Mass. He volunteered for three years' service in the National Guard Sept. 1, 1940 and was formerly stationed with the 45th division at Camp Barkeley, Texas. CLABORN, PVT. ALEX, 24, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Claborn of Apache. He was inducted into the army Dec. 26, 1942 and has been stationed at Camp Campbell, Ky. with a tank division. He attended school at Cement and Broxton and was engaged in farming and working at Fort Sill at the time of induction. CLARK, CPL. JAMES K., 21, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Clark of the Hog Creek community. He enlisted in the army in April, 1942 with the coast artillery anti-aircraft and has been stationed in Vallejo, Calif. John E. Clark, a brother, is now somewhere in the Pacific war theatre. CLARK, SGT. JIMMIE, 518th MP, Fort Jay, N.Y., 21, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark of Anadarko. His father is an ex-service man. He was born at Mangum and attended school in Anadarko and Stecker. He enlisted Oct. 18, 1938 at Fort Warren, Wyo. He is the brother of Mrs. Christine Good of Apache. CLARK, JOHN E. of Anadarko is a Canadian born youth now serving in the Canadian Signal Corps in Calgary, Alberta. He is the son of Mrs. J.W. Clark of Hog Creek. He was raised in the Hog Creek Community. CLAYPOOL, CPL. VIRGIL C., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Claypool of Carnegie. He is serving overseas with the 45th division. He is a graduate of Alden High School, going into the service Sept. 1941 and was engaged in farming at the time of his induction. He is a brother to Mrs. Earl Gillaspy of Fort Cobb. CLEMMONS, CPL. CARL, 26, is in Camp Chaffie, Ark. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Clemmons of Anadarko. He is the brother of Mrs. Henry Clark and attended Verden School. He enlisted Sept. 24, 1941 and has two sons living with their mother in Oklahoma City. CLEMMONS, PVT. HERSCHEL P. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Clemmons of Englewood, Calif. He entered the army air corps in January 1943 and after training at Atlantic City, N.J. has been stationed at Camp Kohler in Sacramento, Calif. He has one brother, CARL J. CLEMMONS, who has been stationed at Fort Sill. They both attended Verden Schools. They are the brothers of Mrs. Henry Clark and Mrs. H.E. Patterson of Anadarko, Mrs. E.H. Sturm and Mrs. Joe Stroud, both of California. CLIFT, CARL, Rdm 3c, USN, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Clift of Anadarko. He enlisted in the navy Jan. 26, 1943 and received his boot training at San Diego, Calif., and Virginia Beach, Va. He sailed from Philadelphia, Pa., July, 1943 for duty in the Atlantic and has been transferred to the Pacific. He has two brothers in the service. CLIFT, PVT. HOMER and DELBERT CLIFT, USN, 2c, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Clift of Anadarko. Homer attended Stecker School and the business college in Anadarko. He entered the service in May 1942 and graduated from radio mechanical school at Scott Field, Ill., and is now stationed at Goodfellow Field, Texas. He is married and his wife is a teacher in the Stecker Schools. Delbert volunteered for service in August 1942 and is now stationed at San Diego, Calif. He graduated from Stecker High School and attended Cameron College, Tonkawa Radio School and electrician's school. CLIFT, PVT. RAYMOND M., 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Clift of Anadarko. He was inducted into the service Oct. 28, 1943 at Fort Sill in Lawton and received his training at Fort Benning, Ga. He has been stationed at Camp Livingston, La. with the 342nd infantry, Black Hawk division. He graduated from Anadarko High School with the class of 1943. COGGINS, LEON, 21, is the son of former Gracemont residents Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Coggins of Oklahoma City. He entered the U.S. naval air station Sept. 8, 1942 and has been stationed at the U.S. Naval air station at Norman. His sister, Mrs. Don Belyew, is a resident of the Roach community. COIL, LT. CARL L., is now at Fort Knox, Ky., unassigned after receiving his second lieutenant's commission there Sept. 4. He was a member of the 50th graduating class of the armored officer candidate school. Four weeks following graduation, most successful candidates will be assigned to armored divisions or serparate tank battalions as tank platoon commanders. Coil, 22, is the son of Mrs. O.S. Coil and brother of Mrs. Rae Hazel, both of Anadarko. He graduated from Lindsay High School and was a senior engineering student at Oklahoma A&M college in Stillwater when he entered the service April 6, 1943. COLBERT, PVT. ELVIN D., 19, is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Harris and the nephew of Mrs. Corene Gatlin, all formerly of Anadarko. He attended grade school in Cement and high school in Anadarko. He was a member of the National Guard a year before they mobilized and has been a member of the regular army since the National Guard mobilized in the fall of 1940. He is now in the Canal Zone. COLEMAN, PFC. LLOYD is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Coleman of Anadarko. He is 23 and is stationed with an artillery unit in Philadelphia, Pa. He is rated as a pastry cook. He attended Anadarko Schools and enlisted into the service just after Declaration of War at Venture, Calif. COMPTON, AIR CADET AVERY P., 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Compton of Verden. He entered the service June 8, 1943 and took his training at Sheppard Field, Texas; Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Santa Anna, Calif., and Glendale, Ariz. He has been stationed at Lancaster, Calif., taking basic training. He finished high school at Verden and was attending Oklahoma A&M college when he enlisted in the army-air corps. COMPTON, CALVIN is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Compton of Anadarko. He left the Anadarko High School in his senior year and enlisted in the navy Oct. 22, 1942. He received his boot training at Davisville, R.I., and is now stationed somewhere in the South Pacific. He is 17. COMPTON, PVT. EARL D. is attached to the 6th medical training group at Camp Roberts, Calif. He is the son of J.R. Compton of Oney and attended Oney High School. He was manager of the Washita Valley Gin when inducted into the service January 1942. His wife is now employed with the Albert National Farm Loan Association in Anadarko. COMPTON, EMORY WESLEY, 31, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Compton of Fort Cobb. He attended the Fort Cobb school and before entrance into the Navy in September 1942 he was employed by the REA at Binger. He is married and his wife and daughter are making their home in Albert. He has been stationed somewhere in the West Indies. COMPTON, PVT. TOMMY A., 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Compton of Binger. He enlisted in the army Feb. 1943 and is attached to a medical corps. He attended school in Binger and is now stationed at Camp Howze in Gainesville, Texas. CONNER, PFC. LAVERNE, 17, stationed with the marines in California is the brother of Wilber Conner of Anadarko, Mrs. Florence Halfmoon and Mrs. LaVeta Allenbough of Anadarko and Mrs. Mary Guy of Oklahoma City. He enlisted in January of this year. COOPER, PVT. EARL, 20, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cooper of Marysville, Calif., and a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. U.G. Hill of Apache. He entered the army in January 1943 and is in the ordnance department at the army air base at Portland, Ore. He attended school at Broxton. COOPER, JR., W.H., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Cooper of Anadarko. He graduated from Anadarko High School with the class of 1937 and graduated from Keen Business College and attended Cameron Junior College in Lawton. He is 22 and went with the 45th division when it was mobilized in the fall of 1940. He is now stationed at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, as an aviation cadet. CORREIA, EDWARD W., S2c USN, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Correia of Chickasha, former residents of Anadarko. He entered the navy Jan. 20, 1944 and took his basic training at San Diego, Calif. He attended a radar school there. COSPER, JAMES RICHARD, PVT, US Army. Enter the service Jul 14, 1944, Basic Traing at Ft MacArthur, CA.. Served in the European Theater in Italy & Germany. He is the son of James Lloyd Cosper & Mary Helen Dunn in Colony, OK. COTTON, S-SGT. NELSON T., 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Cotton of Anadarko. He entered the service in August 1939. He has been stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton. Since he has been in the armed forces he has received a diploma from a military mechanical school in Baltimore, Md., and one from a civilian school at St. Louis, Mo. He is married and his wife has been making her home in Lawton. COWL, JOHN HENRY of Carnegie enlisted in the Coast Guard Dec. 9, 1941 and has been stationed at Fort Pierce, Fla. He is the son of Mrs. S.H. Cowl of Carnegie. COX, PVT. ALTON J. 18, grandson of Mrs. J.L. Stampler of Washita entered the marines in 1945. He received his boot training at Parris Island, S.C. and is now stationed at Camp LeJune, N.C. He attended Washita school. COX, GEORGE W., MM 1c, is the son of Mrs. J.W. Cox of Grand Junction, Colo. He attended school in Grand Junction and for the past four years has made his home in Anadarko where he was shop foreman at the Green-Phillips Chevrolet Company. He entered the seabees in April 1942 and has been in the Canal Zone since September. He is the brother of Mrs. Dean Phillips. He is married to the former Loraine Tonkinson, who makes her home here and is employed as bookkeeper at the Green-Phillips Chevrolet Company. COX, IRWIN C., 20, RDM3c of the USN, enlisted in the navy Nov. 1942. He took his basic training at San Diego, Calif. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Cox of Anadarko. Cox attended a radio school at Tonkawa, Okla., and San Antonio, Texas, before enlisting in the navy. He is a 1941 Anadarko High School graduate and has been stationed in the southwest Pacific since early 1943. CRAIG, WELDON L., 22, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Craig of Alfalfa, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and will undergo the final phases of the rugged officers' training course at Quantico, Va., before taking to the field to lead Leathernecks in battle. He is a graduate of the Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. CRANDALL, RICHARD 'DICK' A., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Crandall of Anadarko. He received his education when he attended the Oklahoma City Schools. He entered the navy Nov. 1, 1940 and received his training in San Diego, Calif. He is ranked as a second class fireman and is now in the eastern zone. CRAVENS, AEM3c IRA L., 20, is the son of Mrs. Ethel Cravens of Gracemont. He entered the service in 1943 and received his boot training at Corpus Christi. He is now stationed in Santa Rosa, Calif. CRICK, ODELL, S2-c, USN, 19, entered service Jan. 23, 1943 and finished boot training at the Great Lakes naval base. He has been in training at Bremerton, Wash. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crick of Broxton and is married to Cordell McCullough. CROW, PFC. IRA J., 29, is the son of F.D. Crow of Oklahoma City and entered the service Jan. 26, 1944, receiving his basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas. He was with the 3rd army in Germany. Crow attended school in Cache and Apache. His wife and baby boy reside at Apache. He was a truck driver at Richards Spur previous to entering the service. Crow has been wounded in action and has been awarded the Purple Heart. CROWELL, PVT. GUY C. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Crowell of Fort Cobb. He is now stationed with the U.S. Army Hq. Btry, third FA Bn. in Camp Funston, Kan. He is a graduate of Oney High school and was recently stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton. CROWELL, PVT. JAMES C. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Crowell of Fort Cobb. He has been stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., entering the service June 3, 1942. He is a graduate of the Oney High School near Albert. CRUMPLER, PVT. MONTEY, 19, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crumpler of Fort Cobb. He enlisted in the army Jan. 18, 1943 and has been stationed at Camp Haan, Calif. He is the brother of Mrs. Jewel Lumpkin of Apache. CUNNINGHAM, DWANE M-M3c, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Cunningham, formerly of Gracemont. He entered the Seabees in 1942, taking his boot training at Camp Bradford in Norfolk, Va. and Camp Peary, Williamsburg, Va. He served 20 months in the Southwest Pacific. He is now stationed at Port Hueneme, Calif. He is a graduate of Gracemont High School. CURLEE, SGT. CARL enlisted in the service Jan. 10, 1940 and was first stationed at Fort Sill. August 17th of this year he entered the air corps. He is married and his wife now lives in Apache. Mrs. Lottie Buchanan of Gracemont is his sister. He attended schools in Anadarko.
