Company I, 115th Infantry was violently counter-attacked by a 
strong enemy force, Private Childers, a member of an artillery 
forward observation party, alone and unassisted, remained at his 
post to provide covering fire for the withdrawal of his party"; 
born 11-Feb-1908; died 01-Oct-1944 in action at Birgden, Germany;
