His tour of duty began 31 may 1967. His length of service was 22 years. He was married and from Apache. He served in World War II and in Korea, coming out of retirement to serve in Vietnam. He earned 42 awards and decorations, including 22 for combat service. Among these was the DSC, three Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars, and three purple hearts. He had earned battlefield commission as a Lieutenant during the Korean War. He is buried at the Garden of Stone Cemetery at Fort Sill, Ok. He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe.
