Caddo Co. Oklahoma - Civil War ================================================= Steele, Comrade - 57th Illinois The Anadarko Tribune 02-Nov-1922 DEATH OF COMRADE STEELE W.H. Steele, accompanied by his son Frankie, was in town last Saturday, and left our subscription-money till three dollars nearer full than when they entered. The Steeles, as so many of our readers know, live a few miles northeast of Gracemont. We learned through W.H Steele, of the death of his father, Comrade Steele, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Slvanis McCulley at Waukomis, Okla., about the middle of last month. He had lived there the most of the time since in April 1922, varying locations occasionally by visiting other relatives. He reached the age of about 88 years. His remains were buried at Waukomis, a short distance south of Enid, by the side of the body of his wife, who had died twenty years ago in August last. Comrade Steele was a member of the Fifty-Seventh Illinois. His figure was a familiar one at the annual reunion of the Blue & Gray at Bridgeport within the last few years.
