Caddo Co. Oklahoma - Civil War ================================================= Cackler, Marion - Co. G, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army F.M. CACKLER, UNION VETERAN, DIED MONDAY The rapidly thinning line of veterans of the civil war was further depleted by the death of F.M. Cackler, a well known citizen of Hinton, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Main, Monday afternoon, after an illness of several months. Frances Marion Cackler, oldest son of David and Jane Dennis Cackler, was born at Ashley, Ohio, February 17th, 1844. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eva Main, February 1st, 1926, aged 81 years, 11 months and 16 days. March 12th, 1864 he was united in marriage with Anna M. Moses who preceded him in death on October 16, 1923. To this union four children were born Mrs. Emma Cleveland of Lookeba, Okla.; Mrs. Eva Main of Hinton, Okla.; Mrs. Edna Dinsmore, deceased September 8, 1917; and E.M. Cackler of Oklahoma City, Okla. He was married again August 7, 1924 to Mrs. Zylphia M. Cochran at Hinton, Okla. He served during the Civil War as a private in Company G, 1st Batallion, 18th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army. He was converted to the Christian faith and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1903. He lived as a conscientious Christian and the last sentence he uttered was "Jesus says its all right." He leaves his widow, three children, twenty grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Irene Roosevelt and Mrs. Alice Barton and two brothers, David and James Cackler, all of Ohio. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Rev. O.W. York officiating. Interment was made in the Hinton Cemetery Tuesday afternoon. (The Hinton Record 04-Feb-1926)
