John M. Boyles was born in Texas in 1855. His parents moved to the Territory soon after the Civil War. They moved to a place near Oklahoma City and farmed on Hog Creek but their farming was in a small way at first as they only had one pony and a yoke of oxen, so there was not much raised the first year or two but game was plentiful and they could have plenty of food for the family from wild game.

Each year the farming conditions grew better and more stock was acquired since Mr. Boyles' sons were large enough to help with the farming, the hardships of the family were not so great. After farming a few years on Hog Creek, near Oklahoma City, the Boyles family moved to the Sac and Fox country near what is now Prague but then the town or post office was named Lamdon.

They farmed a number of years three miles north of Lamdon and John M. Boyles was post master at Lamdon for two years. Mr. Boyles father, who was known in the Sac and Fox country as "Uncle Charlie", carried mail to and from Lamdon for several years, but continued his farming up to the age of about ninety years.

Submitter's Comments: A Chas. Boyles is listed in Lincoln County Oklahoma as one of the original land owners. South Creek Township, Township 12 North, Range 6 East. South Creek Township is the township that Prague is in. The town Lamdon would be Lambdin, located 2 mi east of present Prague. It was started in 1892 and had a general store-saloon-and post office. Population of 40 at its height. Information taken from history of Lincoln County, Oklahoma.
