The north-south line through Frederick is the St. Louis and San Francisco.  It was still operational in 1972.

The east-west line is the W. F. & N. W.  Later taken over by the M. K. T., it was still in operation in 1972. 

The Atlas shows no roads in Kiowa County.  The thin lines are rivers and creeks.
