CLEMONS' WIDOW IS APPROVED AS NEW UNDERSHERIFF
Bartlesville Examiner (about October 1946)
Submitted by: Steve Clemons

The appointment of Mrs. Grace Clemons of Bartlesville as undersheriff by Sheriff Tom Sears was approved this morning by the board of county commissioners. She is the widow of the late W.W. Clemons, who had held the position, and is believed to be the first woman ever to have held the position of undersheriff in Washington county.

The appointment of Ray L. Perrier of Ochelata, as a deputy in County Treasurer Marvin Dillingham's office, was also approved by the board.

Other business transacted by the board included the approval of the monthly reports of Sheriff Tom Sears, County Clerk Clyde V. Reasor and Dr. William LeBlanc, assistant county physician and the quarterly reports of Justices of the Peace E.L. O'Neil and J.L. Barnes and Constable Eli Spayd.
