MIDWEST CITY — Choctaw High School assistant coach James "Jamie" Cook died late Wednesday in a motorcycle accident, police said.

Cook, 36, of Midwest City was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle home from a concert in Oklahoma City when he bumped a curb and lost control of the bike, Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.

Cook was an assistant baseball and football coach and a former Oklahoma State University baseball player.

The accident occurred about 11:15 p.m. in the 7100 block of NE 23. Cook died at the scene, Clabes said.

A witness said Cook was thrown from the motorcycle and his head struck a traffic sign, Clabes said.
