William Fred Burns

In Loving Memory William Fred Burns passed from this life on August 12, 2001. He was born to Effie Mae (Harber) Burns and Robert Burns (former Lt. Gov. of OK) on May 15, 1911 in Duncan OK. Fred lived most of his life in OK where he worked in state government in his youth and later in golf course management, where his greatest satisfaction was maintaining perfect greens. He retired at 62 because he didn't expect to make it to 65 ( He served as a Lt. in WWII in Burma, with the Army Corp of Engineers.

Fred passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock, AR after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Hoar) Burns, his parents, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

He is survived by 1 sister, June (Burns) Harper of Aurora CO; 5 daughters, Lou Ann Wood, FL; Billie Gore, OK; Mary Hamblett and June Redick, CA; and Jerrie Sue O'Neal, AR; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The world was a better place for the life he lived. We miss him and honor him.
