Sally Ann (Berryhill) Bingman passed away at St. John Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born at Morningside Hospital in Tulsa on March 13, 1926, she was the daughter of a prominent Creek Indian pioneer family of the early Glenpool/Sapulpa area. She was known to her friends at the Euchee Mission School as Little Miss Northwind because of her full and rosy cheeks.
Sally graduated from Montnicello Preparatory School in Alton, Ill. and received her BA degree from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She remained a life-long supporter of her sorority.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theo and Rilla Berryhill of Sapulpa and J.W. and Maggie Bishop of Claremore; her parents, Earle and Selma Berryhill; and a grandson, Blake Justiss Bingman.

Sally is survived by her devoted husband, John; and her three sons and their wives, Brooks and Jana, Bradd and Lyn and Brian and Paula, all of Sapulpa. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Sara and Jay Phoenix of Edmond, Stacy Bingman of Norman, Annie and Steve Bilby of Sapulpa, Rachel Bingman of New York City, Brice Bingman of Boston, Mass. and Rebecca Bingman of Sapulpa. She also leaves behind a brother, Bobby Berryhill, and his wife, Barbara, of Del City.

Sally will be greatly missed by a host of close, life-long friends, relatives and neighbors and their children and grandchildren.

Sally and John began their marriage in Okmulgee and moved to Sapulpa in 1949. Following a short stay in Fort Sill, they returned to make their home in Sapulpa. They had the joy of loving each other in marriage for 12 days short of 54 years. During that time, Sally served as a Boy Scout Den Mother for all three of her sons.

She was a member of the Sapulpa Library Board at the time of its first expansion and remodeling, and served as past chairman of the Sapulpa Charity Ball, formerly the Show Charity Ball. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the church's Women's Guild and was an avid bridge player.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of other remembrances, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden Fund.
