TURNER, who has been suffering for the past few years with tuberculosis passed quietly away at his home on east Main street shortly after seven o'clock last evening. The end did not come unexpected for friends and relatives had been notified that he would not live through the night and were with him during his last moments. The Masonic Lodge took charge of the remains over which the Masonic services were held after which they took the body to the depot for shipment to the old home at Clyde, Kansas. The bereaved family was accompanied as far as the train by a large concourse of sympathizing friends whom the Democrat joins in expressions of sympathy to those left behind. ================================================= August 11, 1904 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- YOUNG LANGDON KILLED Was Thrown From Horse Skull Fractured - Operation of no Avail While driving some stock into town yesterday Mr. LANGTON(sic), the 16 year old step son of W.H. FERGUSON, was accidentally thrown from his horse and in falling sustained a serious fracture of the skull from the effects of which he died at 6:00 this a.m. Mr. Ferguson lives about four miles southwest of the city and they were driving some cattle into the city and when near the Methodist church the cattle scattered and in chasing a refractory cow his horse collides with the cow throwing the young man. He fell on his head and fractured the skull. He was taken to the Caddo Feed Yard (where) medical aid (was) summoned. After examining his injuries DR. BOYD called DOCTORS MITCHELL and KERLEY into consultation and an operation was performed, a section of bone being removed from pressing on the brain and also quite a bit of clotted blood. By examination after his death this morning it was learned that the base of his brain had been injured and that the operation performed was of little aid in prolonging life. The remains will be interred today in the city cemetery. Everyone sympathizes with the bereaved relatives. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obituary of David Turner DAVID TURNER who died here Aug. 1, 1904. He was born May 4, 1849 at Pleasance Parish of Spott, Haddingtonshire, Scotland. He emigrated to America with his parents while quite young and came to Clyde in 1866; on arriving at manhood he became very conspicuous as a citizen and had much to do in civil matters; twice he was elected mayor of Clyde; he belonged to the following orders: A.F. & A.M., R.A.M., R. & S.M., K.T., A.A.O.N.M.S., M.W.A., A.O.U.W., K of P, and Tripple Tie. All of which indicate his high standing in society. He was married to MISS BYANCY BAGLEY of Concordia July 1, 1873 and to this union were born five children, four of whom are still living: WILLIAM D. TURNER, CORA TURNER, MRS. GEORGE FORD, and MRS. JACK WARD, all of Anadarko. The remains were taken to Clyde (Kansas) Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held at the residence of his mother, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. REV. T.C. MOFFATT preaching the sermon from Job xiii:12. The Masonic Lodge of Clyde then took charge of the remains. He leaves a wife, one son, three daughters, an aged mother, one sister and three brothers to mourn his loss. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones by everyone who know them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. D. Turner, Miss Cora and Will returned last evening from Clyde, Kansas where the remains of the husband and father were laid to rest Wednesday of last week. =======================================================================
