Bennington School
About two miles west of Shady Point
LeFlore County, Oklahoma

Martha Laswell Wilson was one of the first teachers. She was Cora Pearl Stogner's mother. Cora Pearl said that she remembers when she was a little girl the doctor in Shady Point, Dr. Lindsey, would come and pick her and her mother up in a surrey and take them from Shady Point to Bennington every morning so that she could teach. He then returned for them in the evening. Dr. Lindsey was a great man of power and influence whose medical career extended for miles around the country.
