Stephen T. Shackelford
May 3, 1843 - Mar 15, 1918
Often spoken of as the "Dean of Methodist
Protestant Ministers in Eastern Oklahoma"
His first work was the organization of a church at
PawPaw, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma in 1887.
He founded other churches that spanned three counties:
Sequoyah, Haskell, and Pittsburg.

 


Sons of Stephen T. Shackelford and his second wife, Pernecia Clayborne:
Fate, Harris, John, and Bert.

 

Stephen T. Shackelford and third wife, Mattie Jane Jones.

 

These are the daughters of Oscar Dunree Pettit and Emily Faulkner;
all four girls were born in Indian Territory.   The second from the left,
Maud Ellen Pettit married John Washington Shackelford (see John 3rd from left above). 
Both were from PawPaw Bottoms, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma.
