Wise on 11May2009
Hi. I was wondering why my uncle, PFC Claude Richard
Wise (38465569), is not listed on your Wagoner County Casualty page. He
lived between Coweta and Broken Arrow----always in Wagoner County --and was
killed in action near Cherbourg, France on July 14th, 1944. He was born April 4,
1923 at Coweta, Okla. He was buried in France a couple of years until the war
was over, then shipped back here and buried. There is a marble monument outside
the Wagoner County courthouse and his name is on it, but everything on the
internet does not have him listed under Wagoner County. How can I get this
corrected? I am trying to find his records--where he was at what time in the
war--but the Veteran's Records said the 1973 fire destroyed h-w, so I haven't
had any luck. Any suggestions? His brothers and sisters are all dead now., so I
am the last living relative, and I am curious about it, as I inherited all his
letters, his flag and his purple heart. But, I would like to know what regiment
he was in, and where he was stationed-and how long--during the war.
