Funeral services for Steve FOWLER, 48, of Lavaca, Ark., were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Lavaca First Baptist Church, with Revs. Phillip Pevehouse and Richard Merritt officiating. Burial was in McKendree Cemetery in Subiaco, Ark., under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Inc. of Charleston, Ark. Mr. FOWLER was born Jan. 27, 1953 in Dexter, Mo. he died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, in his home. Survivors include his wife, Janet Fowler of the home; one daughter, Lora; one son, Jared; his mother, June; three brothers, Dennis, Mark FOWLER, Danny. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence FOWLER.

Graveside services for Ed GRASS, 78, of Vian, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Redbird Smith Cemetery north of Vian, with Rev. Frankie Studie officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. GRASS was born May 3, 1923, in Delaware County, to Levi GRASS and Lucy Nooyah (BACKWATER) GRASS. He died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lillie (SANDS) GRASS of the home; three daughters, Mary and Geneva and Betty; one son, Tommy; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Polly and Genora and several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Leola Claudine ACREE, 79, of Sapulpa, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John Nelson officiating. Burial was in Sallisaw City Cemetery  under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Sapulpa. Mrs. ACREE was born February 8, 1922, to Gertrude and Ben GARVIN.   Mrs. ACREE married Raymond E. ACREE on December 26, 1942, in Charleston, Mo. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Wiley; two grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice and Mandnelle; and two brothers, Herbert and Don. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael ACREE.  

Funeral services for Jimmie Marie (CAUTHRON) BULL, 86, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Victory Temple Church in Fort Smith, burial was in Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edward's Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mrs. BULL died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, in a Fort Smith Nursing Home. Survivors include one daughter, Ora Jean; one son, Paul Winford; two sisters, Marjorie and Mayrene; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Rufus W.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Charles BULL; one son, Thomas Leo BULL; her parents, Oscar Leo CAUTHRON and Ora (GLIDEWELL) CAUTHRON; one sister, Jessie WALKER LACY of Dayton, Tenn.; and one brother, Charles CAUTHRON of Crescent City, Calif.

Funeral services for Lawrence L. "Larry" CROWDER, 60, of Fordyce, Ark., were held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Roger Copeland officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce, Ark., under the  direction of Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. Mr. CROWDER was born May 23, 1941, in Texarkana, Tex. to  A.E. CROWDER, Jr. and Virginia Doig BUSHONG. He died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, in Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, Ark. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Shanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Chrissy and Jimbo; one grandson; three half-brothers, David, Dr. Gerry and Chris.

Rosary services for Joanne Marie ETZKORN, 61, of Roland, were held at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2001, at the Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. and Mass services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Blessed Kateri Catholic Church in Roland, with burial in Roland City Cemetery, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith. Mrs. ETZKORN died Thursday, August 30, 2001, in her home. Survivors include her husband, Charles ETZKORN of the home; two daughters, Belinda Sue and Kelly Jo; one son, Charles Shannon; three grandchildren; and four brothers, Edward, William, Howard and Walter Wayne.

Funeral services for Cecil GEHEB, 86, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, Ark., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mrs. GEHEB died Sunday, September 2, 2001, in Fort Smith. Survivors include four sisters, Elizabeth, Imogene, Verneal and Aline; and two brothers, Eual and Bill; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin GEHEB.

Funeral services for Sammie HENRY, 68,  of Vian, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Vian Baptist Church, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery in Vian, under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls. Mr. HENRY was born May 3, 1933, in Vian to Boyd HENRY and Lucy BALLARD HENRY LACY. He died on Wednesday, August 29, 2001, in the Muskogee Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Mildred and Louise ; and his parents. Survivors include one daughter, Aquanette Marie; three sons, Donald Ray, Reginald Dwayne and Sammie Dwayne; five grandsons; three granddaughters; one sister-in-law, Shirley Mae, one brother-in-law, Monteria, Sr.; one brother, Charles Boyd; one sister, Mary Edith; two daughters-in-law, Terry Ann and Janetta Evette; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

Graveside services for Mildred F. IRWIN, 71, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, in Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville, Ark., under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mrs. IRWIN died September 1, 2001, in a local hospital. Mrs. IRWIN was preceded in death by her only son, Charles Leroy BARTON. Survivors include one grandchild; two sisters, Audra and Helen ; two brothers, Jackie and Leroy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Lorena MANUEL, 82, of Fort Smith, Ark. were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith. Mrs. MANUEL died on Sunday, September 2, 2001. Mrs. MANUEL was preceded in death by her husband, Carl MANUEL. Survivors include two daughters, Carla and Cindy; one son, John; five grandchildren; and the mother of two of the grandchildren, Pat; one sister, Roberta; one brother, Chester.

Funeral services for James Edward SWIMMER, Sr., 56, of Gore, are being held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Gore High School Gymnasium, with Revs. Garner Garrison and Elder Peter Penrose Hubler officiating. Sallisaw. Burial will be in Swimmer Family Cemetery in Gum Springs, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gore. Mr. SWIMMER was born January 18, 1945, in Konawa to Edward "Ned" SWIMMER. He died Sunday, September 2, 2001, in Sallisaw. Mr. SWIMMER married Sharon Jeanette LANE on July 9, 1965 in Stilwell. Survivors include his wife Sharon SWIMMER of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law,  Kathy and Chuck, Karen and Lyle  and Jennifer  and Josh; one son and daughter-in-law, James Edward Jr. and Debra; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Vergial and Danny; his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Margaret; and one uncle and aunt, Floyd and Mickey. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Denise Renee SWIMMER and Christian Rebecca SWIMMER.

Graveside services for Sherman Don TAYLOR, 38, of Muldrow, will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, at Sallisaw City Cemetery, with Bros. Steve Harris and Vanoy Fitch officiating, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He was born May 24, 1963, in Oceanside, Calif. to Dillard Dewayne TAYLOR and Tamara Lou HAIR TAYLOR JONES. He died on Sunday, September 2, 2001, in Muldrow. Mr. TAYLOR married Teresa Jean ADAMS on July 23, 1982, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife Teresa TAYLOR of the home; one daughter, Janoa Dawn; his mother and step-father, Tamara and Lowell; his father and step-mother, Dillard and Betty; one sister, Angela; two brothers, Butch and David; and his maternal grandmother, Gracie. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Trisha Kay TAYLOR on March 16, 1993.

Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.  Mr. DAILY was born April 17, 1913 in Vian, to Maldie Floyd DAILY and Ruth MILLS DAILY. She died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, in Sallisaw. Mr. DAILY married Edna Pauline SWON on March 16, 1937, in Sallisaw. Survivors include his wife, Edna DAILY of the home; two daughters, Patsy Ruth and Betty Sue; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Neville and Grace Marie MOSS.

Rosary services for Mary Ann ASHOUR FLUSCHE, 77, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held 10 a.m. Friday, in Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial in St. Benedict Cemetery in Subiaco, Ark. under  the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mrs. FLUSCHE died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, in  Fort Smith. Survivors include three daughters, Dot and Ellen and Sarah; four sons, Jerome, Tim, John and Father Vincent; three sisters, Agnes, Sister Rosa and Barbara; two brothers, Martin and Paul; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent M. FLUSCHE.

Funeral services for Myrtle HAWKINS, 93 , of Moffett, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Ark. with burial in Hawkins Cemetery in Parks, Ark. under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Waldron. Mrs. HAWKINS was born December 7, 1907 in Mena, Ark., to Walter H. and Leona (FOSTER) REAVIS. She died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. HAWKINS was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. G.E. HAWKINS; three sisters, Ester REAVIS, Erma  MANUS and Ruby HELLER; and three brothers, L.Z., Sherman and Frelin REAVIS.  Survivors include three sisters, Rada and Freida and Almeda; one brother, Elmer; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Martha Doris (NEISLAR) KNAPP, 81, of Rogers, Ark., were held at 1:30 p.m.  Thursday, at the Roselawn Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., with Father Richard Davis officiating, under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. Mrs. KNAPP was born August 18, 1920, in Fort Smith, to Rainey and Pearl (TROTTERBIRD) NEISLAR. She died Sunday, September 2, 2001, in her home. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, William and his wife, Betty , Ernest and Dennis his wife Barbara; one daughter, Nancy; several grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. KNAPP was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; one sister; and two  sons.

Funeral services for Lucile JACKSON, 93, of Poteau, are being held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Poteau, with Revs. Dell Glenn and Rick Snyder officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. Mrs. JACKSON  was born February 1, 1908 in Egan, Texas to J.P. and Bessie (YOUNG) NEWTON. She died Thursday, September 6, 2001, in Poteau. She married Ernest C. JACKSON on October 1, 1944. Mrs. JACKSON was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. JACKSON and her parents, J.P. and Bessie NEWTON. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chuck; two grandsons; one great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Lucille and Chrystal and George.

She died Sunday, September 9, 2001, in  Tulsa. Survivors include four daughters, Helen (Cookie)  and husband Leroy, and Virgial Jean, Rosetta, Neomi and husband Emmitt; one son, Grover Jr.; three sisters, Ernestine and Edith, Alena; six brothers, Roy Gene, Leo, Lee Edgar, and Elder Carl, Rev. Matthew, O.J.; thirty grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her  husband, Grover Sr.; two sons, George Edward DREW, Sr. and Anthony Maurice DREW, Sr.

She died Saturday, September 8, 2001, in a local hospital. Mr. HUTCHINSON was born January 27, 1949, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Robert Lee HUTCHINSON and Wilda Faye HOLLAND HUTCHINSON. He died Friday, September 7, 2001, in Norman. Survivors include one daughter, Rosie; his father, Robert Lee HUTCHINSON; three sisters, Sheila, Tonya and Rose Marie and three brothers, Ron and Herbert and Mike.

Joe Fowler officiating, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. He was born February 23, 1939, in Cameron, to Robert and Eva (COLLEY) JAMES. Survivors include five daughters, Sharon, Glenda, Brenda, Diane, and Nancy; four brothers, Robert and Paul, David and Willard; three sisters, Dorothy, Bessie and Mollie; twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a host of beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ernest JAMES.

Mrs. LaBASS was born November 17,1 907, in Blackjack community, to Franklin Lincoln LaBASS and Dovie Angeline (McKINNEY) LaBASS. She died on Sunday, September 9, 2001, in Fort Smith, Ark. Survivors include two sisters, Goldie and Ruth; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He died Sunday, September 9, 2001, in Sallisaw. Mr. LOCKHART married Patsy Raye COLEMAN LOCKHART on November 7, 1953, in Red Oak. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery near Liberty community, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. She was born October 28,1 925, in Long community, to Elmer ROGERS and Zula Mae (REED) ROGERS. She died Saturday, September 8, 2001, in Fort Smith, Ark. Mrs. O'NEAL married Austin Percy O'NEAL on June 13, 1942, in Long. He preceded her in death on August 21, 186. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Junior and Carol and Kenneth and Sandra; four grandchildren; one sister, Edna Lee; five brothers, Harvey, Arlin, John, Harold and Danny; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Burial is in Box Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. PRATT was born August 11, 1925, in Cookson, to Lee CATO and Tilitha RISLEY CATO. She died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, in Muskogee. Survivors include her husband, Alton PRATT of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and wife Pamela  and Sam and  wife Sheila; three sisters, Jodie, Alphia and Eulean; and four brothers, Frank, Porter, Andy and Raymond; four grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen CUNNINGHAM and Dorothy BURTON; and one daughter, Patricia Ann  PRATT.

Graveside services for Carldean Jo PRICKETT, 81, of Roland, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001 at Roland City Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Polasek officiating, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Ark. Ms. PRICKETT was born May 2, 1920, in Faye, to Jess BRANNUM and Esther BRANNUM. She died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.  Survivors include one daughter,Gwendolynn; two grandchildren; four cousins, N.W., Jeannine, Veroqua, and Mary; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Bertha Mae GRIZZLE WEAVER, 95, of Fayetteville, Ark., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith, Ark. Burial was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery in Fort Smith. She was a member of the Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville and the Eastern Star. Survivors include her two sons, Kivel L. and his wife Dixie and Wendell; one brother Carl, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Gilroy WELLS, Sr., 78, of Fort Smith, Ark., were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Quinn Chapel AME Church in Fort Smith, with the Rev. Linda Profit, officiating. Burial is in Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith. Survivors include his wife, Loretta WELLS of Fort Smith; seven daughters, Lagina, Stephanie, Malvern, Julie, Martha, Gwendolyn and Beverly; five sons, Gerald D., William T., Roy L., Gilroy Jr. and Frances E.; six sisters, Charlene, Katherine, Christine, Patricia, Faye, and Bervulee; twenty-two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Mr. McHENRY was born July 21, 1933, in Sallisaw, to Henry and Myrtle (SPENCER) McHENRY. He died  Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, in Cashmere, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom and Lonnie McHENRY; three sisters, Willie and Helen McHENRY and Jean HONEYCUTT. Survivors include two daughters Penny and Eva; five sons, Tony, Paul, Joe and Barry, and Kevin; three sisters, Opal, Doris and Ruth; six grandchildren; his special friend Lois; and several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Funeral services for Roy Earl SWEETEN, 71,  of Cameron were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Manor Chapel in Poteau with Revs. Kevin Fitzgerald and Jackie Edwards officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. Mr. SWEETEN was born August 14, 1930, in Rock Island, to Jess SWEETEN and Mary (PARNELL) SWEETEN. He died Wednesday, August 12, 2001, in Cameron. He was married to Billie Lea JONES on December 5, 1958. Mr. SWEETEN was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Odie SWEETEN, Frank SWEETEN, Scott SWEETEN, Fred  SWEETEN and Coy SWEETEN; three sisters, Minnie HARGROVE, Mattie JARED and Pauline SWEETEN. Survivors include his wife, Billie SWEETEN of forty-two years; two sons, Randy and Shawn; two daughters, Glenda and Sherry; six grandchildren; one brother, Lee; one sister, Faye and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Tony Ray STUBBLEFIELD, 37, of Muldrow, were held at 1  p.m. Friday at Agent Chapel in Muldrow with Rev. John Wainright officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery near Stigler, under the direction of  Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. STUBBLEFIELD was born November 4, 1963, in Porterville, Calif., to Jimmy STUBBLEFIELD and Barbara (KINMAN) STUBBLEFIELD. He died Tuesday, September 11, 2001, in Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. STUBBLEFIELD was survived by his parents, Jimmy and Barbara STUBBLEFIELD of Muldrow; his maternal grandmother, Margaret; one brother and sister-in-law, Derrick and Terry; two nieces, Tarran and Nicole and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. BLEAKLEY was born April 23, 1921, in Long community, to Elburn WOODY and Bessie (HOWELL) WOODY.  Mrs. BLEAKLEY was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar BLEAKLEY.
