There are only 2 stones which are in English in Sam Cemetery. The other 50-60 graves are Cherokee sandstone boxes and many have Cherokee writing and designs on them. Creek Sam's stone is in English. He was a Tribal Council Member of the Cherokee Nation. He also served in General Stand Watie's Cherokee Mounted Volunteers, Confederate Army.
