Elm Grove Cemetery

Elm Grove Cemetery was established just after the Civil War. The oldest person buried here is Sanford Scott, 1818-1899. He was an "Old Settler" and came to Indian Territory prior to 1851.
The Hildebrands were German imigrants who migrated from Virginia to Georgia, and then to Indian Territoy. Two of Joseph Martin Hildebrand's seven wives are buried here, Martha and Elizabeth. His father was Michael Hildebrand, son of John Hildebrand. Joseph's maternal grandfather was Brigadier General Joseph Martin who fought in the Revolutionary War and later became an Indian Agent for the U. S. Government.
