The Lure of the Indian Country and a romance of its great resort by Oleta Littleheart

The Postcard transcript:  "Dear Colporteur Committee,
Your literature is certainly very good. I am going to distribute some of the books at the various springs. I am going to leave some of the books at the various springs. All the people are asking for it. I will write to you later about it. The message of the book is strong. The people read with interest. I am impressed with the character of the work. I am going to send another order soon. I will send beyond what I do not need. I want a 25 cent book for each of our Indian converts. I want more of the smaller books for general distribution.
Yours in the work,
Sister Jennie Waltham."

AUTHOR OF
"THE LURE OF THE INDIAN COUNTRY"
AN
INDIAN-PALEFACE ROMANCE
STORY OF THE
Passing of the Five Tribes
Sulphur, Oklahoma, 1910
DEAR PALEFACE COUSIN: Three years ago when I filed on my allotment I wrote to the Cousins' page of a big farm paper about my Jer. and the manner of allotting land in the CHICKASAW Nation, telling how much each INDIAN and squawman gets. When my letter was published with my picture, my PALEFACE mother and fullblood father were very proud of me. When it was first read to my INDIAN grandfather, who was once a great warrior and preserves to this day many scalps of PALEFACE people taken in wars waged against the white man, he took me upon his knee and said: "Oleta, seem like you write it what they call it some heap good, like INDIAN know it. Not like white mans all time storyin' it. Mabeso you goin' to be what they call it author. Tell it like INDIAN know it. Not like white mans what they call it historian all time writin' it, tellin' it heap big lie, an' makin' it out INDIAN all time heap bad mans an' PALEFACE all time heap good mans."
"'Mabeso will," I replied, and grandfather, hugging me closer to him and stroking my glossy black hair—Indian hair—sat silent and thoughtful a long time. While sitting thus in the lap of my proud and haughty INDIAN ancestor, I resolved to follow his suggestion and write a series of Indian-paleface romances, from the view point of the Indian, for his pleasure and the pleasure of my people, and for the information of the paleface.
The first book of my series, "The Lure of the Indian Country," beautifully illustrated, is now ready for distribution to all who may wish to read it, and I can supply you at the following prices: Bound in leather, stamped in gold (souvenir edition) $1 per single copy. By the half dozen or more, 75c per book.
Paper cover, 25c per single copy. By the half dozen or more, 15c per book. Cash with all orders. Postage or express prepaid.
Inviting you to read my books, one by one as they are published, and learn of the charm and romance of our last great Indian country, the truth about my proud and haughty race, and the fact that the PALEFACE who has INDIAN blood in his veins, no matter how small the
quantum, boasts of that little as if it came from a line of kings,
I am, Your Chickasaw cousin,
Oleta Littleheart
